applies wit nvidia cad.
coz ati card, the shader run @ same speed wit core anyway......
*
Yes, I know. I do own Nvidia GPU.
But, OCing Shader Clock is not much effective than Memory and Core Clock.
You can try raise your Memory Clock by 100Mhz vs Shader Clock by 100MHz and test it out.
Personally, I tried that.
Memory Clock have better result compared to Shader Clock.

even oc gpu ram producing better result than the core...
but consume more power and easier to damage it..
pay extra careful when playing with it..

Yes, however, it's just on par(or slightly better or weaker) with Core. Not better than it.
It pawns Shader.

Depends on condition, artifact might be caused by overheating (your previous issue) or bad RAM (unrepairable), you can try FurMark to see if it fail you again.
*
Thx for furmark but the card failed again =(

QUOTE(xen0 @ Nov 24 2010, 03:32 PM)

Silent and fugly, much like Vinnie Jones in "Gone in 60 seconds" smile.gif

LMAO, the heatsink definitely not appeal to some, but for those who want near silent case for HTPC, etc.
Doubt many Malaysian will take this unless they have a darn good case or a darn good air-cond room shakehead.gif

Probably can mount a fan there or in close proximity brows.gif with a big heatsink like that adding a quiet fan should be sufficient tongue.gif

Not sure, but if the casing have good airflow and the cooler is designed properly why not. Passive coolers with good airflow can be cooler than active coolers with puny little heatsinks. Only problem is how much a premium is it.

An example compared to a reference card.

Yea. All for the quest of silentness or you can even zip tie a fan on the heat sink I guess =)

blackops have cpu lag issue, your hd5970 not throlled? sweat.gif Beside black ops are too easy for hd5970, maybe if you put max setting. gpu usage wont be higher than 40%,hence less current used biggrin.gif

because malaysia are hot country, i bet powercolor wont release this model, scared of massive rma, beside passive-cooler are dependent to environment temperature tongue.gif

+1, it is not strange to have passive cooler for 6850 card, try passive cooler on 6970 or 5870 brows.gif I bet without fan, it still can produce good cooling temperature. As long your casing got enough room letting air to flow. nod.gif

its possible (for other country, not hot country like malaysia), see how many temperature when running on place without a/c when the stock cooler reaches 80c

That's one helluva big passive cooler there hmm.gif.

But I don't see why can't it be used in our country. As long as the chassis has a good ventilation, then we're set hmm.gif. Otherwise, the heatsink looks large enough to accommodate a 90MM or 120MM fan brows.gif.
