Best way to know for sure is to try both firmwares. Anyway, as for me, I am sticking to JPM for now, especially since I'm comfortable with the super-optimized JP6-JP8 kernel (currently on 3.3, itching to try the the speedier/newer 3.5 release). Will consider 'upgrading' if that kernel supports the newly released firmwares..

yes, JPA can root, very easy one button software. truly one button software, no need to reboot to recovery.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682

after using that install busybox. cause it doesnt come with it

after flashing, go to batch, and select restore apps.
*
Sorry, abit noob here. I always flash without backup my apps. So, wanna ask.. why there is no batch in Titanium backup apps?

i give it 8, if you are using eclair or earlier froyo you notice that most of the time when you open an app, then play around, then go to homescreen and tap apps drawer, Tw will have to load them for about 10 sec, i have not seen it yet on the new froyo.

oh yeah i forgot to say i have 8 full apps drawer.
stuttering hmm, stuttering "kinda" there more like 1 milisec stutter, like i said, maybe cause of animation make me feel it not that smooth,
i try to find the activities and tell ya
camera test, all stock setting, no scene,no anti shaking, in low light condition, iso auto,i read somewhere samsung froyo supposed to have new camera driver, NOT RESIZE, 5mp

GPS test: no simcard in phone, wifi off, use wireless network setting in gps is uncheck, sensor aiding uncheck

i go to middle of street stand there, open sky totally

open gps test apps, from there i activate the gps
GPS test apps: 8 sec - 8 satellite - 30 feet accuracy

i turn off gps. exit gps test app

open papago. i activate gps from the papago
8.30 sec, it lock me down

how accurate the gps and strongly it got the satellite lockdown is unknown yet.

Yeah same here. I read that the super-optimised kernel is a general froyo kernel and it should support any new froyo fw.

Maybe that 10% is what SGS need to get an 'A' from users. Still There is no mention of how is the battery life performing on this FW.

@silentser
Any comments yet on the battery consumption rate for this FW?

great to hear that.. will stay tune for ur feedbacks tmr.. rclxms.gif

and in my opinion.. for ppl who might think that if samsung can delay so much for froyo update on sgs... it might do the same in the incoming updates like gingerbread..
but wat i think is.. if they can fix the major issues that is most probably the main issue delaying this update of froyo.. they could have apply wat they already solved onto the gingerbread with not much trouble.. so my assumption is correct and they manage to fix it now.. the future updates shud come in handy... rolleyes.gif

i got silly question here, i can't get into recovery mode

5. Shutdown your phone, wait for it to power off completely (vibrates on Froyo, check buttons keypad light on Eclair), then boot the phone into Recovery Mode (press Volume UP, keep it pressed, then press HOME button, keep it pressed, then press Power button, keep it pressed until you see the Galaxy S screen. Release all three buttons when you see it).

anything wrong? what did i missed? lol

It's harder to implement google's new firmware over manufacturer's custom UI. Google Nexus gets froyo immediately but HTC Desire only gets their froyo around last month. Even HTC with good follow up record also delay quite long. Why so angry with samsung? You have XDA devs come up with fixes everyday.

I think it's all a matter of perspective. The SGS is my first ever Samsung phone, smart or otherwise. No major disappointments as far as I am concerned. Easy to root, easy to update firmware, lots of active development work by the great people @ xda-developers forum, active group discussions @ lyn.net forum.

Phone itself is fine although I would like to be able to get a power pack addon to give a boost to the battery or a larger capacity battery to fit into the phone without changing the back cover. The SGS may yet be the phone I keep for longer than 1 year. I've had PalmOS phones, S60v3 and v5 phones, WM5 and WM6 phones, Blackberries, just have never had to urge to own an iOS phone.. Hmm, maybe I'll get an iPad soon..
