mine looks firm n steady, dont have such issue

i bought my sgs month ago, still reading and understanding for rooting & updating my sgs firmwares. currently eclair.dxjg4 still. mine is still a virgin sgs originally from maxis data plan.

still in a scary situation flashing it on my own.. gathering more info b4 doin it. but i MUST do it. haha...

got some silly question here.
1. can i flash my sgs without my sim card? reason is i dont wants unwanted disturbance eg. ppl calls/sms in.

2. can anyone provides me more details steps from 0 on whats my needs and importants things i needs to know b4 i flash my sgs? as i said.. i read this in month time and i still could not understand it very well. dumb me >.<

1. so it can flash without sim. ya! if this case it will settle my main problem
2. though i m dumb and hard to understand it now, i may need to read more n more.. but i wants to flash it is a must!! i found that a lot of things and apps i can used if i dont root it.

is the matter of patient n time, i like the way u say "wash me nicely" hahhaaah, very true on what u said though.. well i just opened a txt file and gather all the info and creates my own step by steps and verify it carefully b4 i root it

ahhh.. now i got more info on this. is almost like this example

flashing is like installing windows, i need to boot the installation files on the clean boot which means that the windows is NOT on operation. i got it i got it! thats y we need to reboot the phone. thank for the clear explaination. i noted it.

very true indeed as i said, u oredi tells us almost all the things on ur page1. and is all free info provided from u what else can we say or demand on it. but once i view on it, i do not know whats the difrent/risk between them. the only thing i found interesting is "odin" is very difren from the others. is like when u use this ur actually looks like "reformating" ur hard drives. everything is empty and u need to load/configure all the things from the begin on a empty phone. the others sounds like "upgrading" and running it from ur windows. this is just like how i feels it and not truly understand it at the moment

but i personally think this thread is very informative and good enough... we canot demand so much coz is free and somemore thread starter + all the members in here is 100% helpful as i gone thruso many ep. and pages if i really manage to compile the dummy set i will put in PDF and let u all download from this thread maybe? or just put the link inside my signature

5. Shutdown your phone, wait for it to power off completely (vibrates on Froyo, check buttons keypad light on Eclair), then boot the phone into Recovery Mode (press Volume UP, keep it pressed, then press HOME button, keep it pressed, then press Power button, keep it pressed until you see the Galaxy S screen. Release all three buttons when you see it).

urm, i just follow the instruction here to fix the 3 buttons recovery mode works. but somehow now.... my phone can't detect my sim card and no service. anyone can help? LOL...

Preparations: Make sure you have the drivers installed (i.e Kies is recognizing the phone), adb available and "USB Debugging" turned on in "Settings -> Applications -> Development" menu. Type *#0228# in the dialer and check Voltage value (without USB plugged in) is atleast 3800(mV).

1. Unplug the phone from the computer (if connected)
2. Kill all Kies related software (tray agent, etc)
3. Start Odin3 v1.3 Downloader
4. Plug in the phone to the computer
5. Start a new command prompt and navigate to the folder / drive where adb is located.
If you haven´t downloaded adb yet, get it here.
6. Type "adb reboot download" to the command prompt and press enter.
7. Move to Odin3 v1.3 downloader and select the "Aries_P-SBL.tar.md5" as PDA file. Make sure "Phone Bootloader Update" is ticked and re-partition is unticked. Do not select any other files but "Aries_P-SBL.tar.md5".
8. Press "Start" button to launch the update process. It will take around three seconds to complete. After the update phone will reboot automatically.

caution on the odin, i also faint and dont know what to do when my phone can't detect my sims. coz i put the md5 files into "phone" section. actual is "pda" << VERY important as i dont wan u to goes into my same error @@!!

anyone using darkyy rom here got the battery sucking solution? LOL~ i m in trouble again.... i just let in a battery vampire in my SGS T.T

ya right... $ solve everything
then hired a maid to carry a bagpack battery pack for me

any recommended roms? or anything we can do eg. turn off some background wares that we dont needs it.

i unplug my phone at 10am this morning, now left 65% =.=||
i turn off most of the things like "auto sycn" i even uninstall most of the internet softwares which i scare got hidden process on the background too much...
