What is GunPla?

Plastic Gundam model kits (GunPla) are manufactured by Bandai in Japan which has an exclusive license in manufacturing and marketing them around the world, the first of them being sold in 1980 in Japan. The models are typical of Plastic model; frames of injection-molded Polystyrene (PS) parts which must be cut out of the frame before assembly. The majority of post-1990 models have snap-fit parts, with models prior to that requiring an adhesive such as plastic cement. Plastic Gundam models kits are typically supplied with stickers and sometimes decals to apply extra colors and markings as seen in popular media such as TV shows, movies, manga or video games. Smaller or lower-grade kits often require paint to give the model a finished appearance, due to color discrepancies.

The kits range in different scales with the most popular scales being: 1:550 , 1:220, 1:144, 1:100 and 1:60, and more recently the 1:35 (UC HardGraph) line. Generally in real world terms, kits range from 4~5 inches for small-scale models, 6 to 8 inches for mid-scale models, and 12 inches for big-scale models, although these sizes vary from model to model. With a few exceptions, all currently produced kits bear grade ratings that give a good idea about their final quality.

Please note that other categories, such as EX Model, do exist. Additionally, Bandai often produces limited-run kits for special events such as BAKUC or C3 conventions. These have different packaging, and usually only differ from their common counterparts in that they are metal-plated or made of translucent plastic.

My final decision is not buying MG but instead of that I buy the HG OO movie series~! I bought a Harute.....Next pro~ly is Raphael~! ^^
*

Actually, the amount you spend to collect all HG 1/144s would be more than the amount to collect all MGs.

In a month, they only release one MG and about 3-4 HGs. On average, 1 MG is like 4500yen whilst 1 HG is about 1900 to 2000yen. You do the maths laugh.gif

Kshatriya has a overall height of 22.3m in 1/144 scale that's around 15.48cm.
On the other hand, Queen Mansa has a overall height of 42.1m in 1/400 scale that's around 10.53cm.
So, technically Kshatriya is taller
*

I don't know why you're comparing it between two different scales.

Specs from MAHQ shows the following height (up to the head) irregardless of the model kit's actual height:
Queen Mansa 39.2m
Kshatriya 22.3m
Sinanju 22.6m

Heh, I was comparing the model kits. Since kshatriya only available in 1/144 and Queen Mansa in 1/400.
If compare the full scale kinda straight forward which is bigger right? biggrin.gif
*

Then we should compare 1/144 Kshatriya with SD Queen Mansa for greater effect! laugh.gif

QUOTE(Hellscream @ Oct 23 2010, 11:32 PM)
Of course is single barrel gatling gun !!! It make it more special and more  like Okawara and ver. ka feel. tongue.gif
*

Well, i really like the concept of storing the dagger behind the arms and the beam saber compartment inside the lower arms of the Ver KA.

I prefer the orange color scheme as well, but i don't think it can beat the clown mask and the twin double barrel gatling guns of the H-A Custom. That is just pure ownage. drool.gif

Lol bro, the concept follows the TV version.. Heavyarms got no beam saber, in the anime Heero used the Heavyarms to fight Zechs so they removed the fore arm and attached the beam saber there..
*

Yup, i know. But i really prefer the looks of the version KA over the TV version.

I thought Katoki had removed all the TV version's concept for his version. So, if the version KA has all the same concepts as the TV version, then i would be picking up the former rather than the latter, although i still like the latter's gatling gun better.

Let's wait for Bandai's announcement! laugh.gif

Honestly, I don't think we shouldn't be complaining/griping much about the new MGs which already have very good HG equivalents(eg. GN-X and 00Q) which are also relatively new cause nowadays the HGs already have very good articulation, detail and proportions.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
*

I agree with you to a certain extent, but when we're talking about similarities, either in proportions, looks, or articulations, there should only be similarities between the HG 1/144s and the NG 1/100s. MGs should be a level (or several levels) higher than both of those grades.

After all, we ARE paying more. sweat.gif

If they could improve on the quality of HG 1/144s like you've mentioned, why isn't the MG line improving as much? It has already come to a point where the HG 1/144s have a quality almost equal to the MG. So where does this put the NG 1/100 line? Somewhere worse off than the HG 1/144s? Why don't they improve on that line as well?

I'm sure some people will agree with me that gimmicks and interior details aren't really that important since we leave them fully assembled (and maybe fully painted) and are left in a fixed pose for God knows how long.

The recent releases of HG 1/144s are good (i'm looking at God, ZZ, Unicorn and Sinanju). It's because they have the MG version first, and worked backwards for a 1/144 release. This has resulted in the HG 1/144 Sinanju having a better shield attachment than the MG's flimsy one.

user posted image

The HG 1/144 Unicorn has better knee and shoulder articulations than the MG. Although it has lost the transforming capability, honestly speaking, a transforming one wouldn't be feasible (or likeable) at all in 1/144 scale.

Then we have those models that have HG 1/144s first before the MG. Taking your example of MG 00Q, since they already have a good HG 1/144 to use, i'm sure they could come up with a better one (in terms of looks/articulations/proportions) rather than just slapping an inner frame in it, increase the scale, and call it Master Grade.

A similar, and more impressive, example is the MG Strike Noir. Both MG 00Q and SN had no NG 1/100s released. Both the HG 1/144 versions had good proportions and gimmicks. But if you compare MG 00Q and MG SN to their HG 1/144 counterparts, you could see why they had done a better job on MG SN and why i'm disappointed in MG 00Q.

It's just my viewpoint, and maybe i'm just creating excuses to buy Gundams less. But hey, saving money isn't really a bad thing now, is it? laugh.gif

No pictures yet because Bandai made him apply those decals himself. That's why it's taking so long. laugh.gif
