sorry, i also have not check how long to charge the battery, but i m suspecting that it ll be loooong since i only have 65W charger (the smaller power brick), and my 6-cell battery is 64Whr. moreover, charging time also depending on how much power u are using, and i always tends to play game, which uses a lot of power. biggrin.gif for me, it doesn't concern me much cool2.gif but if it is for u, share with us how long it takes to charge this beast.

OK, i've finally decided to update to BIOS 1.19 and the new Acer Graphic driver. i am a little disappointed that Acer still using only Catalyst 10.6. but i updated it anyway... there are some result:

3dmark06 before: 7531
3dmark06 after: 7566 and i rerun (out of boredom) 7618!

JustCause2 before: 36
JustCause2 after: 37

I am suspecting that the temperature of GPU increased a little, but i have no proof of that. at normal browsing, it is still around 48 Celsius like previously.

when i got time, i ll play Darksiders for 4 hours and check the max temperature again... however, i ve been busy lately... so, this will have to wait...

Conclusion:

There is NO NEED to update the BIOS and new driver!

As posted in the first post:

Heat management:
This is what I like most about this notebook. Normal wifi browsing (flash, whatever) after an hour, CPU is around 40-48 Celsius. GPU is 45 Celsius. Gaming and under heavy load for a few hours, CPU max @87, GPU max @82. I can see temperature rapidly going down once game stop. The 2 fans working really really well.

The max temp was recorded by letting CPUID Hardware Monitor run in background while play game.

I updated the Bios and ATI driver yesterday, CPU still the same as observed previously. But apparently GPU become 48 Celsius during idle... i m thinking of refreshing it back to stock BIOS... but i can't be sure if it's the driver or BIOS... it also could be that the thermal paste wearing off.... cry.gif

my 3dmark06 score did improved after the update...

how is the temp compare to others notebook?

i've set my lappy to max power saver and the result is, my battery shows that 9hrs and 55mins remaining LOL...just use intel graphic, and shut all others apps that i won't really use.... biggrin.gif

@k-bkeat - so far no negatives from mine...temperature can increase high, as mine just 68ºC but it can reduce fast under 1min and return to normal temp about 47ºC...

hi, feel like temp read error for me, my acer 4730zg, with older or lastest bios, the cpu temp would stuck forever 29c at hwmonitor from cold boot, but just 1 restart the laptop temp would back to real temp around 45c+-

Guys, I wonder how did u all add more RAM since I noticed the back of the laptop is sealed with ACER warranty seal and in order to add more RAM u need to open that compartment. Unless theres some skill involves to open it without breaking the seal. Or perhaps the RAM slot located under the keyboard?

well as for me , i had call acer product support. they say that seal is for 7 days 1 to 1 change warranty ( if got problem with your unit can change 1 to 1 within 1 week). If you decided to add ram, and open the back cover. the 1 week 1 to 1 change warranty will void, and can only do normal warranty. which mean must wait for part when claiming.

healthy partition (recovery) for recovery.

system reserved (for win 7) . I dunno what for but , when installing win 7, it will prompt that it will create the partition.

You would need to install the ATi driver then the switch should be fine...
and install Launch Manager as well..
the rest, the ordinary driver installation...
