QUOTE(BuFung @ Oct 18 2010, 05:04 PM) perfect it ourself... Well...Thats the price that N900 users paid for buying phone with dead OS.it is like you buying a car with gearbox problem.. u have to perfect it yourself.. and the manufacturer do not cover the warranty of it.. probably entire car also they don't cover you... it is like a bunch of developer paying money to the manufacturer and Help them to perfect thing out... But the community really did lots of things.Reviewers complain that N900 support MMS,community came up with fmms, another group criticize N900's crappy camera & again open source community(Standford Students) came up with DSLR class fcamera. There are plenty of things done without Nokia's support. Since Nokia is gambling everything on MeeGo I doubt they will pull stunt MeeGo like they did on Maemo. You can expect proper support. QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Oct 18 2010, 05:04 PM) Who knows?Maybe can? In short; Maemo has is strength as well as it's weakness. Personally, for the OS, like MeeGo, it's a class above smartphone range OS; After all, Maemo is a Tablet OS, and the possibilities and flexibility is very wide, also on the customization, many things can be done. There is Chromium port (Google Chrome for Linux), there is mplayer, there is VLC player, there is full Java can run Java Applets, for programmers, you can even install NetBeans, there are applications for JB for PS3, there are aMSN (Desktop version MSN for Linux), so much more. But it really lacks the "power" to support all those.neopwn still isn't complete.Once it's complete then users can try hacking rest of stuff. Godlike or not, depends on each person definition/preference; Technically, it's a powerful device; If someone don't like Nokia, then close one eye on the branding thing. The OS itself is powerful and great. But the phone functionalities is very poor; can't believe it's from the same company which provides great phone function. Just my cheap 2 cents "lah"; call it godlike or whatever; love your own device and OS. Each device and OS has their own target Customers or Customers that prefers them. Now back to N8; Already send my N8 to NCC ICU... face some problems and go through several hassle. Anyway, already emailed to Radiance/Paolo to follow up with Nokia. Btw, after I hard reset, I can't play those demo videos anymore, it shows license missing or expired? I heard another rangers also send in his device to NCC? |

QUOTE(BuFung @ Oct 18 2010, 05:19 PM) Exactly. In past I've always criticize Nokia on software support.Their software support always been half baked.Take N97,5800 & C6 for example. It took them long time to come up with stable usable firmware. However I do think now it's better.N8's firmware is good when I tested it & even N900 is getting firmware update soon. Seems like Nokia do prioritize software now. Lucky I wasn't chosen as Ranger.Else the Nokia workers would have get earful from me |

In my personal opinion, MeeGo doesn't look better than Maemo; Maemo is unique as it's an Internet Tablet OS, which has it's own category of users; Now if MeeGo is different (I feel its Android-ish), then those Maemo category of users will no longer have proper replacement OS, they'll need to "switch". Finally, Maemo still sounds way cool than MeeGo; So does Android.
