cant connect my ext harddisk 500gb to the phone. Probably not enough power

hmm.gif I guess the OTG kernel still isn't perfect.
Everyone having same problem connecting devices that requires extra power?
In N900 this works just fine.

why iOS ..??

for me.. iOS just simple and it has it own limitivity... which is i think it kinda boring...
*
Not just simply,it's very simple.
No homescreen, limited multitaking, restricted access to OS files etc2.Even after jailbreak it's still pretty simple OS.
Even without the 1GHz processor iPhone 4 should still run fine because the entire is not hard on on processing power.
But somehow Apple managed to phail simple multitasking. From what heard sometimes when multitasking is initiated, the whole OS lags thus requires reboot.

QUOTE(Clareen @ Oct 16 2010, 05:21 PM)
Personally i found out android is quite complicated to me so i will not going for android at this short period of time.
*
The "internal" part of Android is bit hard to get used to.But just give it some time & you'll get used to it.I'm alternating between Maemo & Android, already got used to it.
btw swype on resistive screen still performs very well.

*
About the 8 hours battery charge,I don't think modern days battery have to do so.
As for N900's case, when the light indicator turns from orange to green automatically the battery will stop recharging. No matter how long you left it.

The most unstable part is the browser. Really hate the browser rclxub.gif
*
It's kinda expected.Symbian's webkit based browser simply never performed on par with other webkit based browser.
Perhaps Nokia should have just to port Maemo's browser.

Using too much of widget do use higher battery power than normal.
Just remove the widgets that you don't use.

It's what you can expect from 1200mA battery.
Why Nokia don't produce 1500mA batteries still puzzles me.

Maybe noob people like us dunno how to toy with the settings yet... >.< I will definitely disable the 3G (if there is, i will select NEVER connect without asking) and use GSM only because im using prepaid, will never touch WAP and 3G, only Wifi. I just noticed my N95 frequently has the 3G sign beow the reception signal bar. That means it connect to 3g network automatically? (never checked the settings). No wonder battery drain...
*
There will be always be ways to squeeze out tiny bit of extra battery life.
Some of them are use GSM only instead of dual mode, turn off widgets, use wifi instead of 3g because 3g use higher battery power than wifi, use custom firmware,etc2
If you guys complain about the firmware right now maybe you'll get new firmware soon.Go to Nokia forum & voice out your frustration.

yeah... i agree those heavy users might find tiz hp battery life aint that good... but for average usage users might find it adequate... =)

but still i wish nokia had put in 1500mA battery instead of the 1200mA
*
1500mA in N8 might not be possible because of lack of space.BP-5L(1500mA battery) have larger dimension than N8's battery space.Don't think the size reduction of the battery is possible either.

It's normal in every OS to customize everything to suit your need.

3G consume more battery than WIFI??  hmm.gif hmm.gif  this one got to double confirm...

I don't use WIFI on my phone..  and I notice most phone use WIFI for long it will make it hot......  I presume it consume a lot of battery...
*
This is true at least for my N900.
Whether you use 3G or WiFi,your phone will still get hot.If I'm not mistaken it the battery that heats up?

That's why i think social network integration into phone is bad move in the first place. It's more intrusive than SMS/phonecall  laugh.gif
Regarding UMTS/GSM battery consumption, if your area has good 3G/3.5G coverage, battery life wont differ much. In some case, it actually consume less power since you retrieve data faster than EGDE. But overall 3G/3.5G coverage in Msia is  icon_question.gif Most of the time, 3G/3.5G keep dropping and switching back and forth between EDGE and 3G/3.5G, wasting a lot of juice.
*
Well this is main problem for DiGi users than doh.gif
DiGi's 2.5G/3G coverage just plain sucks.

We'll see if that happens with E7.
Even N900 suffers with 1320mA battery.

Even with 2.5G only I'm using more than 3GB data monthly. If I used PAYU definitely I have to pay RM250 monthly.
Better for me to subscribe for the RM58 plan.

Thanks. Just saw the 5800 thread, there's a firmware update guide there, but can't find on this thread.

I think will replace my iPhone 3GS with N8 for now, and wait for MeeGo next year biggrin.gif
*
If new OS is the 1 you want to try,you can always buy N900 & wait till October 22 to install MeeGo in it.

hmm.gif Should be slight problem with OTG kernel.Since N8 don't have so called hardware limitation like N900 you should be able to mount almost any drives.
Maybe future firmware will solve this kind of issue.
I can even mount ext DVD-RW with my phone laugh.gif

I tried to split the mkv file into 2 parts and it won't play at all. Perhaps Nokia should be starting to develop their very own file system and software for Windows OS to overcame the FAT32 file size limitation of 4GB.

I just need to take a day off the browser. It's giving me headache.

Why not start changing to NTFS?

QUOTE(Leo the Lion @ Oct 17 2010, 02:10 PM)
It would be very good if nokia change the welcome connecting hands booting to welcome connecting colorful hands we see in the ads
*
It'll be better if Nokia allow users to change the video itself. There are some people who hates that video.

QUOTE(nicholasbeh @ Oct 17 2010, 02:19 PM)
wait la,BuFung 2010.
put more effort on develop Symbian 4 and Meego would be better.lol.
*
Dunno about Symbian but on MeeGo part Nokia key contributions on only SGX drivers, camera stack, and accelerated video decoders.
Rest are developed by independent developers paid by Nokia + Intel.
