It may with your sarcasm.

But i seriously ask lol..Is ECS mobo really good? whistling.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

I used them before but it was during the old athlon days, using stock it was ok but when oc i faced the dreaded screaming chokes problem sweat.gif

It was during the days where they were the only one left using the old open air choke like this:

Instead of ferrite chokes like these:

Trust me the CM 90cfm performs worser than the Scythe 110cfm fan, the CM 90cfm doesn't even push 90cfm as it said, more like 6x IIANM doh.gif doh.gif

Yup thats the one, fully assemble wouldn't eat ur ram slot space, it's good so far on a Intel 980x but not sure it works well on AMD too hmm.gif
One note tho, thermalright coolers are usually priced sweat.gif

QUOTE(kebal @ Dec 15 2010, 09:49 AM)
noob question...

did i have to lower the voltage..?
*
Yes try lowering ur volt 1st, i don't think u need 1.4x volt just to get up to 3.5ghz hmm.gif

Yes your volt is too high for that clocks.

Not sure bout being the best but just love how it doesn't interfere with the ram slots wub.gif wub.gif

let shifu otromen do the math and magic  tongue.gif  last time using asus 8+2 phase also encounter voltage unstable.. since moved to giga its rock solid (asus motto tongue.gif )

Asus mobo's nowadays u have to play with its load line calibration, if u don't turn it on u will mostly won't get the stablest oc sweat.gif

hey guys... please comment on my rough oc...
i wish to stick to 3.6ghz, so what else to fine tune summor?
*
How about tuning down the cpu volt a bit & upping a bit its cpu-nb volt, usually that will do the trick in cutting some volt needed to keep the cpu stable hmm.gif

so technically if not using IGP, i can leave the HT link at stock?Shall i put it back to default for the time being? (NB temp idles @ 40c++)Not sure if i should try to push it higher or not biggrin.gif..currently using the bios given by gigabyte which is not even on their website laugh.gif
*
If ur not using IGP i think u can just leave ht link speed at stock, asfaik only higher cpu-nb speed will give extra boost to cpu/memory performance hmm.gif

Hi All..

Need your help on what I can do next with my processor. Managed to find this processor. lolz.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

My 1st overclocking attempt on the Suzuka Opteron 1381 chip I have gotten hands on  drool.gif . I think this chip is rare? The Default speed is 2.5Ghz.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Primed the processor for almost 2hrs i think.  flex.gif

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Primed till this morning.  flex.gif

I think that opteron is just basically maybe a handpicked for enterprise usage of a Phenom II 925 or something, its still is a C2 revision of the chip.. hmm.gif

QUOTE(byfc2010 @ Dec 16 2010, 02:02 AM)
Haish guys..
Failed to make my proc stable...
OCCT n orthos small FFT test will fail in around 30~50 mins...
However i did able to run 3D mark Vantage and superPi 32M without problem...

Mayb I shud try lower my proc to 3.5Ghz?
Or will it be the divider which is problematic...
Did tried 533 and 667 divider, but failed...
*
Have u tried isolating the cause of the crash? Try keeping ur CPU-NB, HTLink & RAM speed as close to stock, see if the root prob is the cpu, u gonna have to test one by one.. hmm.gif
It could also be the case of the mobo not being able to sustain high HT@FSB.. hmm.gif
