hi, i had some time to drop by Wisma Hong Leong, I got my savings accounts converted to BSA on the spot, and was issued with debit card.
*
Are you charged any fee for the Debit Card?
If Debit Card for BSA is free of charge, I gotta tell all my friends this great news.

i do not believe so although  she did not mention it to me

The investigation is simple. Maybe you should check your transaction history, debit card fee will be reflected if applicable. If the fee is not there, then it's free lor tongue.gif

complained to the bank  officer just now, their call centre give misinformation, i asked about the tng zing card is actually a different card, the call centre told me is 1 card only , no visa card obviously they dont know the other card is a debit card not credit card...the bank officer asked me for the staff name , since i dont remember n/mind...anyway she mentioned turn over is high, so staff not so well trained..they also mentioned zing card can get on the spot, but again wrong..they will post it to you..

LOL. You learnt this lesson. Next time when asking for information, always have the informant's name jotted down.
I had quite some unpleasant experience in CIMB Bank. I must say their staff is just so incompetent that I always need to call HQ for verification. Worse thing is, almost a 30% of inquiries ended up to be contradicting with information given by Call Centre.

I sent a letter to CIMB HQ, urging the management to train the staff of the said branch properly, make sure the staff give correct information. I don't mind the staff keep me waiting while he/she inquires HQ, the most important thing is the information must be correct.

RM1,500 extra  ohmy.gif  ? What bank is that ? I renewed one of my time deposit accounts with them in August and i got 3% for 12-month tenure. You have to specifically request for the Term Deposit-i though. It's a new product just launched a few months ago. Previously, HSBC Amanah only offered GIA.
*
Agro Bank offers 3.33% for 12-month FD.
Compared to HSBC's 2.85%, a RM200k deposit will cause a difference of RM960 in interest earned.

HSBC Amanah Time Deposit-i offers 3%. If you opt for upfront interest payment, then you'll get only 2.90%. 3.33% is good indeed but it is too much a hassle just to open an account at Agro Bank to enjoy the rate. Besides, i am happy with HSBC so i am so not leaving them  biggrin.gif
*
Agreed.
RM200k can make you an HSBC privileged customer, who cares AgroBank? LOL.

QUOTE(eddiez_zz @ Oct 22 2010, 10:51 AM)
Hi all,

I am planning to register a credit card to keep for emergency uses.

This will be my very first credit card application.
Therefore, I would like to seek for advice from everyone here.

I am wondering, what should we consider when selecting a credit card?
I am a little worried about is there any hidden charges that i need to pay.

Currently i heard from my friend saying that UOB introduced a new promotion that allows the credit card to be waived for 5 years annual fees.

Will this offer good? or do you have any good recommendation?
*
Basically, if you make full payment promptly, you won't get extra charge, you pay what you spent.

You apply card just for emergency purposes? You paid RM50 card tax and you just keep it in wallet? At least, you can use it at petrol stations, groceries, dining places, pharmacies etc.

You don't need to worry about annual fee. Nowadays, most cards in the market are free for the first year and only require you to swipe 12 times in a year in order to get fee waiver.

SCB Gold/Plat is giving out RM88/RM188 upon card approval. You may give it a try.

Thanks for the advice and recommendation.

As for now, i still cant really decide which credit card suit me.
any idea which credit card provides the best promo? I tried to check online for each of the bank, but it really confuse me.  rclxub.gif

Another thing is that, I graduated this year, and just started to work for 4 month.
Hence, will it be difficult for me to register a credit card?

once again, thank you.
*
Fresh grad is advised to apply for DirectAccess Mastercard, as this card is dedicated for graduates and professionals. They are also known to be generous in granting high credit limit.

After getting your very first DirectAccess card, then try to use this card to apply for either OCBC Titanium or SCB Gold/Platinum (if their cash bonus is still valid).

Usually so.
Not all classic card is silver in color though. Same goes to Platinum card. Anyway, most platinum card does have the word platinum embossed on it.
*
Strictly saying, only card number, cardholder's name, member since and expiry date are embossed on the card. The word Platinum is just a printing. Maybe I have not seen an embossed Platinum word. Enlighten me pls.

My appeal for my application of OCBC Mastercard Titanium has been successful smile.gif

Last week thursday, my application status was not successful. So on Monday I had submitted an appeal letter to their credit proccesing department. Today, i called them up and they told me that my card is successful and will sent out to my house next week.

Quite happy since this is my 1st Credit Card application.
*
Hooray! I'm happy for you. OCBC rocks, haha.

Guys, I planning to cancel the 5 credit card with me ... which 1 shall I keep ? I currently pumping BHP petrol so I think I gonna keep UOB CC.
The card I have is
UOB Classic,CIMB Classic,GSC Eon CC,PublicBank Classic & HongLeong Classic card.

Anyone can advise ? notworthy.gif
*
Just keep the card that rewards you the most.

How much rebate do you earn for purchases at BHP?
Do you always watch movie? How much can you save in a year?
CIMB Classic (Mastercard) offers 5-10% rebate at Giant/Tesco/Guardian/KFC on weekends, are you aware of this?
Do you have kids? If yes, you may consider dining at places where 'KIDS EAT FOR FREE'. If no kids, cut it.
Public Bank card, I don't find any special.

And AmBank gives 20% CASH BACK on your weekend (Sat & Sun) groceries + petrol at the participating grocery & petrol outlets.
Please refer to here for terms & condition.
http://www.ambg.com.my/

By the way, i just spend RM650 at Carrefour last 2 weeks and waiting for my statement to see how much is the cash rebate....hahaha 20% woh! smile.gif
*
Well, not every cardmember can comply to its T&C.

Min spend required:-
- Every block of RM50 for Petrol
- Every block of RM100 for Groceries

Not many people pump RM50 petrol at a time.
RM100 per block for groceries is not easy in fact.
Overspending can happen anytime.

Can you even use CC at KFC nowadays? There's almost always something wrong with their terminal. Previously it was only paypass, now even the manual one doesn't work!
Anyone here managed to find a KFC that always has a working cc terminal?  rclxub.gif
*
Strange. I seldom encounter cc terminal failure at KFC.

KFC Bahau, KFC (Jalan Tun Dr Ismail) Seremban, KFC Jalan Pudu, KFC Kota Damansara, KFC SS2.
This is the list of KFC outlets I ever patronized with successful swipe.

Quite a list, I was expecting just 1 or 2.  biggrin.gif
I shall try the one at SS2 since it's the nearest.

CC-fail kfc outlets:
Taman Tun (the old one, not at Petronas)
Pusat Bdr Damansara
1Utama

Haven't eaten KFC since 2 -3 months I think.

BTW, did you use paypass?
The only time I got to use paypass was at NZ Natural @ The Curve. It didn't work the next time I tried though...  doh.gif
Tried at Tesco Mutiara Dsara, failed. Giant Pusat Bdr Dsara, failed.
*
I always wanted to try PayPass. It is the cashier who do not know how it operates.
Put the card onto the device, nothing happens. doh.gif

Ohya, the list goes on. KFC (nearby digital mall) also works.
