there's somebody selling it in garage sales for RM4.9K. But if you import yourself, its around RM5.2k. But you get the ROG bag and the ROG mouse.

well, so far iirc the RGBLED display from the SXPS, the lcd on the new XPS line and the Radiance display from HP Envy series can match the macbook screens.

well the xps line is at RM2999, 3k and the specs are better. But you need to double check on that. I can't remember where i saw that review.. anandtech? Asus screens i know are decent, but nothing to shout about. Not at the Macbook level. edit: yup, here's the review >>> http://www.anandtech.com/show/3999/dell-xp...-l501x-review/6might consider that? 3k This post has been edited by DoubleU: Nov 15 2010, 10:54 PM

QUOTE(ping0613 @ Nov 17 2010, 12:20 AM) view this link, u will noe whether the it is sufficient or not. if focus on play game, i dont think HD 5470 is enough.. on the 5470, you can play crysis, on low settings, maybe slightly lower resolution. But i know you can play crysis warhead (less demanding) on normal settings. most games you will play in on low-medium settings. Source games like L4D or CS:S or TF2 can put high. if you want, the 5650 is decent enough if you don't have a 5k budget. Or the 5730 if your budget can stretch to 3.8k like that...

QUOTE(teamloks @ Nov 19 2010, 08:17 PM) does asus g53 price will drop early next year? hmm thinking to get it depends, cause like singapore will only get the 3D version next year. So the price will be higher. So you might wanna get the G53jw without 3D

15" usually is cooler because it has a bigger chassis.

well, the only other good performer at battery life is the Timeline series from acer. 3820TG (local version also can) and the 4820TG.

QUOTE(mintychoc @ Nov 21 2010, 03:01 PM) I've never used Acer products before but have heard some horrifying issues of laptops dying within 6 months from my friends. Am looking for some reassurance that it works fine for some people? Asus U35JC has pretty good specs. I guess one thing I forgot was optical drive. I don't mind no optical drive, but that means I'll be getting lighter+portability benefits but I'll still have to buy an external optical drive. Which is better? Integrated or isolated? External will knock me back another RM200 extra I think for an ASUS optical drive? Any options similar to the U35JC with an integrated optical drive for less than RM3k? don't the 13" laptop come with free external optical drive? At least those i see in singapore do...

cooling system on the EA36 is quite good, becausethe GC is underclocked. Produces less heat. speakers are quite normal, nothing special.
Not considering the XPS 14? (okay, the xps 14 isn't very slim, but its one of the best laptops that can fight against mbp)

macbook pro. XPS 14 LCD display is apparently more awesome than the mbp display (anandtech review) and the speakers are also very good. and there's backlit keyboard.... specs is same as EA36 iirc. When do you need your laptop? you might wanna wait for a hands on with the XPS. The brush metal design is sexy might be a good trade for thickness?
