QUOTE(kenstone @ Oct 18 2010, 12:23 PM) Hi all, if you want onsite... better to buy the laptop there.I am looking for a laptop for my sister, 1. Brand -- Any 2. Budget -- Around RM2500 (Not more than 3000) 3. Specs -- For surfing, Photoshop, and Illustrator activities 4. Size -- 14" She will be traveling abroad (New Zealand) and she needs a laptop for some online and photo editing activities. I prefer laptop with good international warranty. Maybe onside if possible... Also prefer light laptop, as she will be carrying it around and it would be tiring if it is too heavy. Any recommendation? Thanks in advance. Regards, Kenstone |

can consider the
Dell XPS 15, i7 740QM + nVidia GT435M@RM3499 a) now between both not much difference, the GT8400m was the faulty gc, not hp's problem. b) service life, if ur talking about laptop service warranty, then it depends how many years warranty you buy lur. If ur talking about how long the laptop can tahan, then it depends on how you treat your laptop. If you dun damaged it (eg, put on bed and use for long hours, drop it etc) then it can last 3 years easily. And by then, the tech will be nearly outdated, and probably a good time to refresh your laptop. But of course you can use it for longer... my bro's first compaq laptop is being used by my dad for word processing only (7 years old) |

QUOTE(ZeratoS @ Oct 29 2010, 06:23 AM) Thinking of getting the 3499 XPS15 shipped from Malaysia (studying in England, my XPS M1530 almost dead so its urgent) and have my mom courier it to me. yea, uk keyboard layout is different, but i think you can choose if you want american keyboard layout from dell uk. But, instead of getting it from malaysia... might as well order from US. Brands like Asus are cheaper in US. Or come back during christmas break and get it?Thoughts? Or are there better options I can pick up. I'm looking for a good GPU to last say games like GW2 and DIII in the future. Edit : VAT here is absurd, pay almost RM500 more for the same thing. UK keyboards are weird too, their @ is at their " QUOTE(mr_civicfd1 @ Oct 29 2010, 11:14 AM) thanks bro for the suggestions...actually i am not a hardcore PC gamer as already have a ps3...so i guess gamins is not an issue..huhu...so u mean with that price better to get M15x with better performance? If you want mbp, i think tjhe mbp 13 is better choice. Smaller, more portable, just as powerful. MBP 15 unless you really want the big screen. Also consider the HP Envy see if you like that laptop. (more powerful, same price, design is like mbp too) |

@haoyuan, what?
Anyways, if money is not a problem, I would go for the HP envy, (can still game on it mah) If you want portability and power, then its the mbp 13, if you want portability only, then mba. |

HP envy specs will definitely beat the M11x, its just the M11x is cheaper. If you can afford hp envy, and you like the design, then go get the laptop la.

QUOTE(annbang @ Nov 1 2010, 12:30 PM) no, Cannot just say that ATi is lousier than nVidia like that. Anyways the HD5650 in the 4820tg is among the top mainstream cards. Its better than the GT425m and the GT335m, GT435m that still duno. Still no benchmarks for that card.QUOTE(CypherXX @ Nov 1 2010, 12:35 PM) 1. Asus the A42jv already eol quite a while. QUOTE(jasmine84 @ Nov 5 2010, 04:30 PM) you can buy it from the retailer in US, and have it shipped to either australia or Malaysia, just depends which one more convenient for you. Laptops are non-dutiable items in Malaysia, so there will be no tax when shipping to malaysia. (Australia shouldn't too, but check just in case) |

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Nov 5 2010, 04:49 PM) oh yea, he bought from a shop in sydney, but i think it was slightly more expensive (about same price as singapore, that being mentioned, you can also get it from sgcubhubs, but the cost is about 600-700 ringgit more, and can't customize the laptop so much) |

if you have the budget and you want that extra performance, then yes. If you want a laptop that has a longer battery life, then get the 4820TG
if you compared to the U45JC, i find the build quality is about the same, but i prefer the 4820TG design. |
