is that a real condition? sweat.gif first time i heard of it. i don't think it's wrong to mention that as long as you can twist that into a positive thing.

Hi guys,

I wanna ask, yesterday i went for an interview at this one MNC company. To me the interview was not good as I choke on some of the questions. However, the interview said " based on your qualification and the interview, you should be fairly optimistic to get an offer".

What does that mean? Is it 50-50 i got the job? Im very interested to work at that company.

I think they might said that to all other candidates too right?

He also said I have to wait for them to finish interviewing all the other candidates which will take until next wednesday then only they can come up on an offer.

I dont want to get my hopes too high but i really want that job.

Sorry to say but this is how the real world works. Try to take everything with a pinch of salt. Nothing is concrete until you get it in black and white.
In the meantime, keep hunting, don't give up and good luck!

Yesterday during an interview, I asked the candidate one of the most generic question - "What are your hobbies?". Our intention is just to see how he answers it. We're not interested in knowing whether he likes soccer or basketball or camping. All we wanted to hear is the tone of his voice, body gesture and confidence.

And he answered - "do silly stuff like sleeping". Dude, it's not a cool answer but a foolish one.

Likely to be a millennial laugh.gif

Sorry to say that some of them should work harder in polishing themselves before going for interviews.

When asked about "Why should we hire you?", would it be okay to amswer

"Allow me to re-phrase; Why shouldn't you hire me?" and followed by justifications... Does it make me sound like a prick?

Some may be impressed at your boldness, but most will likely find it crude. Unless you can give very convincing statements otherwise I'd advice against annoying your interviewers.

Dont let this stop you though. Just my personal 2 cents. Who knows, there may be people who likes the way you think.

If I am the interviewer, I'm looking forward to this kind of response. The standard, oft-Googled, heard-it-one-time-too-many responses are just too boring. And it makes the interviewer having to peel these layers to get to the crux.

This is opinion, though. But I do agree with you, as Malaysian corporations may not be ready for this, still.

When going for an interview, always utilize your body language.

Always lean forward to show that you are interested and confident - use your hand gestures or hand movement when you are talking or explaining something - maintain eye contact - nod your head when listening to someone

Use your situational judgment to see whether the interviewer likes you up to that point. If they are comfortable with you then it's a funny joke, if they're already annoyed by you wasting their time then good luck trying to reapply to the same company again

Do you have a valid medical reason, or atleast an informal one like eye issues with white harsh light?
If you dont smoke, maybe spin it comparative to that... but this can backfire.

Thats really a bad thing to say, if I was HR.
Half the people I interviewed, I can tell them no on the spot. Some I'm so sure, I return the CV (20 pages, possibly coloured, with 2 to 4 pictures ect) if they are a bad fit but quite good.

Power la this one. Honest.
Its true employers dont care too much what your hobbies are... outside of work. Don't have a hobby? FIND one, or be working/caring for someone.

Can you type out how you would answer it? Or record your self answering it, and have a few friends view it. The intonation and how its phrased can make it be out of the box... or a jerk.
And FYI, I confirm can answer to any candidate why not to hire them.

My question:
Between single colour polo, long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, which are acceptable for a normal sales/admin position?
What do you guys think of people coming with shoes but no socks?
If you asked how their workspace is, and they answered its full of papers, slightly disorganized but its how they work... is that ok? (i keep getting comments about my table that, unlike my cowokers which is like almost empty, has stacks of papers here n there)

Well, it's up to you to modify these responses to include specific examples that are unique to yourself. I guess what's more important is the way your response is worded and articulated, and that you're confident in what you are saying smile.gif

How do you handle a situation where you want to secure the job offer, but at the same time the job that I actually want is at another place? Do you just ask them to give you a month for confirmation? What if the want you to start, say like in a week? What do you say?

Could you please elaborate? What do you mean by "the job that actually want is at another place"? Do you mean the company has other branches and you have a preference for another location?

If you have good reasons why you cannot start immediately/soon, be honest with the recruiter. They are usually willing to accommodate such requests if they see potential in hiring you. For example, my interviewer asked if I could start immediately in March by working part time while studying at uni. I declined because I planned to start after my graduation in July. She accepted and I proceeded to the next round of interviews.
