Hi..
Recently i just got an interview.. Actually was yesterday.. The company is panasonic..
Anyway, they gave tests, could answer all thier questions..

But i wasn't prepared for the questions like

"describe your self in 20 words"

or

"what is your weakness"

couldn't think of it at the moment, u panic, then brain freezes..

Anway, today i got a call, ask me to go to a second interview...

Any Idea what to expect from them again? same questions?

Another thing, there's 4 interviewer.. My heart nearly stoped beating when i saw them..

Thing is, i didn't shake thier hands when i came in or when i go out..
Cause it's odd or just weird to shake 4 hands..

Hi,

It is very simple..

1) Find out what the job is about

2) Show/tell/demonstrate how you can do the job

Please capitalize your "i" properly!!! Doesn't anyone know how to write in proper English anymore???

The post is "Embeded firmware Engineer".
The first interview I went was yesterday.
They were quite please with me to be able to answer thier test.
But just I messed up the question like what i stated before..

So now, they gave me a call again, asking me to go for a second interview with them again..

1) What should i expect from this second interview?
2) Also, there were 4 person interviewing me.. Should i shake thier hands? Feel kind of weird..

Hi,

I would imagine that second interview would focus more on how do you get along with people. That would be my guess..

What is it about people that they cannot write a sentence with proper capitalization and proper spelling??

Hi,

As to whether you should shake hand or not, I do not know. This is a Japanese company and I do not know what is the culture. But, in general, in Asia, between male and female, unless the female offer her hand, I do not think it is safe for the male to offer a hand shake..

congrats man!
wat's wrong with shaking 4 people's hand? i went to a second interview which had 3 interviewers. i shoke all their hands when i met then and right before i left. that's manners. well unless there's a muslim lady, u should not offer ur hand shake until she do so.

usually for second interview, they would ask the dept ppl which u'll be fitted in to interview u. they wanna find out if u're suited for the job. so they would ask wat u like, give u a scenario etc and see how u answer.

goodluck.

I remembered once that I was required to provide a copy of the payslip of currenct employment. But for your case... 3 months payslips + offer letter, would it be a little extreme?

That is inappropriate. Tell them you signed a non-disclosure agreement with your previous company, and wouldn't mind showing them your EPF instead (that is, if they really didn't mind).

If they don't trust their own employees means you're going to be exploited if you work for them.

You know... you shouldn't have...
Now the HR people will think it's fine to bully job seekers by asking for all sorts of documentations. Then they will compile a list of market price for that position, then squeeze as much out of their employees for as little pay as possible.

This is why people are complaining their job is paying them so low. It's not their fault though, the HR people are just doing their jobs by paying as little as possible, the job seeker's role is to get as high a pay as possible. SOmeone's not doing a good job.

erm, I was browsing through a magazine that day...

for question like "where do u see urself in 10 years time from now"?

the magazine mentioned that we should tell our real plans and not be afraid of sounding more ambitious...

is this true??

Hi,

The magazine that you read must not be very up-to-date. Nowaday, the question is more likely, "where do you see yourself 5 years from now?". 10 years is such a long time that anyone of us will be follish to make a 10 years' plan. 5 years is probably enough to get anything done. If you need 10 years, you probably are not productive enough.

The followings are two versions of my answers:

1 ) I see myself rich and happily doing my job for fun plus a lot of money.

2 ) It is highly uncertain what the future might bring. So, I believe in being prepared and capable orf handling any challenge that might face me. I have technical skill and plus I know how to manage and teach people. My sales and marketing skill is top notch too. I would like to learn more about the formal project management methodology. This would complete my tool box of capabilities.

i have had questions like
where you see yourself in 2 / 3 / 5 / 10 years?

2 years is a little too short. when they asked me that question, i said 2 years is too short. then they switch the question to 5 years instead tongue.gif

Not for engineering majors though... we usually only get asked about our FYP.

Probably implying that engineers should not have a future after 10 years

thanks dreamer...

I'll be completing my studies by next year so right now I'm searching for potential companies which I am interested to work at....

One of the company is Apple ... My question now is, Apple is a "Creative" company and of course, they do get alot of applications ... How do I actually make my CV creative (to stand out from the crowd) without backfiring the whole thing as there's no clear guideline to how "creative" can I be... Or should I just go all out?? Is there any unwritten guideline and etc??

This is because most MNC nowadays wants employees that are dare to be different (IMHO) ... Is there any interesting book related to these issues I can read so that I can improve my self?

Hi Gemini,

Some random thoughts/ideas:

1 ) If you want to learn on how to make your resume stand out, read some books on desktop publishing and find out how to use certain fonts to generate some mood and looks good. Hint: use "Times New Roman" font on your resume and it will look good on both screen and print out.

2) If you really want to learn how to be creative, I recommend reading this book:
"The Creative Attitude" by Roger Schank

3) Apple is a company that emphasized on industrial design. It might be good if you read this book: "The Design of Everyday Things" by Donald A. Norman

4) The three famous books by Edward R. Tufte are pretty good too..

5) You might want to read up stuff on digital video since this is where Apple is going...
