Not that I dont have faith in our youngsters, but we are really missing some key players and this is against Marseille whom has quite a good record for holding out against big clubs in the cup competition.

I mean against Man City itself we found ourselves struggling in the midfield without the creativity of Lampard and the lightweightness of Ramires..

This time, without Drogba due to suspension..

I hope, these youngsters give their 200% otherwise..

good point. it won't be an easy game for us, and i hope we can rekindle our habit of scoring early. that's the only way that will settle the nerves of the whole team, and whoever it is that plays on the right side of our attack tonight. a similar performance to the one against city, and marseille will punish us.

i have a feeling that we will win tonite..but Cech will not have his clean sheet..

for the sake of argument, Ancelotti have no any other option rather than to play youngster..our squad currently are not as big in term of quantity as we always have in previous seasons..

Reporting in the new BLUE thread, keep up the good work TS!

Tonight's game is def notable for 2 things; DD's return and also to see if the boys can bounce back from 2 defeats and get the season going again. And DD here refers to Didier Deschamps, mind you smile.gif

Well, brief off topic reply :

Cos the last time I played jack lanun's FifaM10, couldnt get updates for the game so the 3D match engine really sucked. I like FifaM10 cos of the graphical edge e.g player's pic, lively 3D match engine etc

we need to improve our passing.

From the first half, you can see that Kakuta got the vision to create chances. Only that he cant manage to place the perfect pass. Will come with experience I guess

Erm seem like we lack of player in the middle of the box. ANELKA drift wide to left, MALOUDA is there, A.COLE is there, KAKUTA stay wide at right, ESSIEN and ZHIRKOV outside the box.

Glad to see him play regularly now. laugh.gif Essien's leg too power. Always curve out wan. icon_idea.gif

Ramires getting better from this game although is not even a warm-up game for him. His passing and ability to find space to receive ball is getting better. Zhirkov Cole and Malouda combination was flawless tonight. Almost untouchable. Bison is soooo solid tonight. Our defense line are as good as always, plus Alex did a man wall tonight to block a shot and his power shot free kick is still deadly as always. laugh.gif Anelka looking great, but got found out and got closed down pretty fast as soon as he gets the ball. Malouda had couple of chances but never convert, Sturridge had a decent chance from Cole but I think he misplace his foot. sad.gif Kakuta was awesome tonight. He did what he suppose to do. Provide ball, find space to run, he did what he had to do. Didn't expect a cleansheet but we got one tonight. Bravo to the blues tonight for taking 3 points tonight. biggrin.gif notworthy.gif Mikel's yellow card was unnecessary. :/

My MOTM: Petr Cech and Ashley Cole. Cech did quite a number of saves tonight and some are really risking his life. As for Cole, tireless defender. Running up and down, providing options, running pass defenders to do crosses, sabotage opponent's defense. Both of them got my vote for tonight as MOTM.

It's time to sleep. Good night guys. smile.gif

its good that we're back to winning ways.

but i dont think i have much praise for the lads in the second half. there is no attempt to play football except for a few plays that lead to hitting the post/bar.

yuri is more comfortable playing in the team compared to ramires. i dont think either of them had a good game but i would still prefer yuri in the starting lineup. he has better runs forward.

lampsy is definitely missed. i see lack of creativity outside the box. i miss those chips from lampard to ashley, ashley crosses to drogba, spilled shot scored by malouda! biggrin.gif

i didnt watch the match, but based on ur elaboration i think i can imagine it..even in the 2nd half game against blackpool, they were slightly pwned despite leading 4-0 due to complacency..i do hope Lamps will recover faster n ready for Arsenal clash..for one i admit, no one can ever replace him bye.gif

Chelsea - Bosingwa is Back!
QUOTE
After being out injured for a year, courtesy of a horrific knee problem, Chelsea TV finally confirmed tonight that Jose Bosingwa is now fit and available for selection.

The Portuguese international right-back played for seventy minutes in a reserve game against Liverpool on Monday, a game which our reserves won, and Jose suffered no adverse reaction.

Hs welcome availability gives Carlo Ancelotti yet more options as we continue our trophy assault on three fronts.

You know, when Bosingwa come back, I feel sad for Ivanovic. He did almost everything he can to prove that he is one hell of a RB but in other's eye he's just a sub for Bosingwa.. sad.gif Hopefully he won't be warming the bench all the time when Bosingwa is ready to play.

i think Brana does his best when given the RB duties but i think that he plays better in center back. he is quick and his defensive abilities are better than attack. he is better at center half.

well, its part of the game i guess. a squad has to give a take. we cannot rely on terry and alex alone in the middle so sometimes alex or terry takes a rest while iva takes over, im sure they know that too. it doesnt really matter if he is the deputy center back, because he is as good enough to play for another big team. he is still young and i hope he signs a new contract with us soon.

My condolences to Mr. Ancelotti. Actually he shouldn't be there for this Sunday's game, I wouldn't mind one bit. Maybe an opportunity for Ray Wilkins to notch his second win as a stand-in manager!

hold up. MANY teams in the EPL tried that last season and 99% of them failed. only birmingham managed to prevent us from scoring. 2 key reasons why city managed to become only the second epl team to keep us from tearing up the net: yaya toure and de jong. they were a colossus in the middle and although our mikel and the bison are more than a match for them, we just didn't catch the breaks.

As much as I think we can do it, yes we must not underestimate anyone on the other side. Arsenal is one of the teams that I watch during Henry's era, of course I still watch now to see young player being nurture by Wenger. But this time we cannot underestimate them eventhough Fabregas and Almunia is not playing. Sagna and Diaby are quite an establish players among their squad.

EDIT: Side news, Are we turning into French team like Arsenal?, "All your trophies are belong to us", says Roman, Big guns are coming back after international fixtures, "Ancelotti will bounce back better!", says Wilkins and last but not least, Cech feature in FIFA 11

Replay normally would be the next morning. But there is no fix schedule. You can refer to astro to check it out.

alternatively, you can download the whole match which is about 800MB.

I'd rather take zhirkov. Ramires is too small size compare to diaby. If go one on one, I doubt he can win the challenge. I would prefer to use zhirkov to cause problem on their midfield.

i'm not sure if yuri's cut out to be in the midfield. his talents are severely underutilised in that position. if he doesn't constantly switch positions with malouda, it won't be long before he disappears from the game. ramires to start for me, and continue on trying to improve his short pass completion rate!

4 Questions

2-Will Drogba score goals against Arsenal tonight?

Why always four question? tongue.gif anyways, here's the answer.

1) for me I'd pick zhirkov simply because we have no playmaker. If we deploy all the hard defensive midfield, no one will create chance for us. With zhirkov, at least there's chance.

2) he has good record against arsenal. And I certainly hope he can score tonight. biggrin.gif

3) mikel is close to indespendable to us. Since his arrival, he's just getting better and better. He and the Bison, indestructible on our midfield.

4) I reckon something will be done, one minute silence maybe? But yeah getting a win would be the best thing the squad can bring him but let's not put pressure on our players.

You're acting like a teacher! laugh.gif
1)Ramires should start, but if he don't perform at the beginning of 50minutes, sub him out immediately.
2)It's still early, no one knows.
3)I can say he is one of the most important player for our team right now. I feel guilty what I said last season which against him.
4)My only hope is the lads will work hard for the ball, not waiting the ball!

4 Questions hmm...I dont know..the last time 4 questions then the next should me the same..what if we do it as new tradition now..hehehhe

The Answers

1-I think I pick Ramires...and he should perform...cuz..Arsenal more like fast play...he can coupe with that..Arsenal defender is small maybe one or two will get physical advantage against him..

2-Yes! Goals

3-Agree with some of you..Mikel nearly indispensable..He is the enforcer of our midfielder...I hope he will try to maintain performance and learn to start scoring..

4-I hope..Carlo must be a little bit emotional tonight...dont do something stupid boys...

1. Zhirkov coz he already show us what we miss when he played superbly against OM. Ramires make too many mistake and that can cost us like Man C match

2. I just want Drog to play with a great attitude and help the team

Mikel is a good signing. Give him a bit time to settle down. Drogba took one season to shine at Chelsea. Anelka need some time to settle down. Alex, ivanovic also need time.

He is regular for Brazil national team at the moment. Why? Because he hava good quality.

QUOTE(Ichighost @ Oct 3 2010, 02:42 PM)
4 Questions

1-Ramires or Zhirkov to play against Arsenal ?
ramires! yuri as a supersub, but only for malouda if our main winger isn't up to the job.

2-Will Drogba score goals against Arsenal tonight?
we'll see. has a fantastic record, and if he doesn't score i'll be perfectly happy if he provides an assist or two. there's something about that arsenal kit which triggers something within his brain!  biggrin.gif

3-How important Mikel to the team now?
first name on the team sheet for me. it just shows you knew signings take time to settle down. i'm proud of you mikelele! never once did i give up on our prodigious nigerian.  smile.gif

4-Will the boys do something tonight for Carlo?
the boys will definitely try and cheer carlo up with 3 points. expecting to see an extra sense of urgency and guile in their game. bring on the gunners!

Happiest moment:
RAMIRES FINALLY BOOSTED UP biggrin.gif
Alex scored a thunderbolt freekick

We still have a lot of space to improve, we have a lot of counter attack chances, but we did not convert it into goals, eg:Anelka,Essien.

Man of the match: Michael Essien.
He control the midfield, run everywhere, intercepted a lot of passes, definitely the best player tonight.

First goal: Ramires did some tackle, through ball to Ashley and he cross immediately to Drogba. Guess what? Drogs use his side foot to score his 13th goals in 13 appearance(including 2 subs) against Arsenal!
Drogba punched the corner flag and turn a round, and sing "WOOOOO!" flex.gif

Second goal: Everyone was expecting Drogba will take the freekick. Who was coming from far away?ALEX, GOOOOALLL!Epic goal lol.

To summarized, ramired indeed up his game , drogba as usual against arsenal , scored, alex kick the ball so hard , i think he rip his groin, but got a thunderous goal out of it. All in all solid home performance, against a sustained pressure from arsenal attack.

Okay. Ramires seem to be alot better compare to last few games. When I turned on the TV, I saw him holding the ball, doing what he suppose to do. Then Anelka through pass I was it "COME ON SCORE IT!" But that referee just have to kacau him. dry.gif Ferreira's turn and twist just made me jizz. <3 Of course Alex's goal just.. no words can describe. Closest word to use is AWESOME!

the trio in midfield did very well. Ramires a little bit shaky at start but gain confidence as the game goes. He shown his work rate(how he play in Brazil shirt). Man of the match is Essien. Mikel did very well too.

I believe our faith on Ramires started to see some outcome. Apart from silly moment losing the ball in the earlier stage of the game, he's doing good. He shows great energy, running all the time. This is what we paid 17M for!

Great game, the important part is the the blues able to absorb the pressure from the attacking and the counter just miss out abit, if not more goals...

Yes, Ramires coming out and play quite a good game, but still he is loosing alot of balls in the 1st half... Hopefully see more from him...

The only think i dont get is the subs of the Ivanovic to Ferreira... poor performance and nearly got a second yellow...

now we can see the gap, and hope the blues able to play like this game in game out...

Maybe I didn't watch the whole game. But when I start watching, I saw Ferreira head the ball out of the ball to concede the corner. Even Cech applauded his action. Few minutes later, he did the salsa dance (Twist and turn), come on.. You gotta admit it's good. tongue.gif

I feel for Liverpool as they haven't been able to recreate their best years but when Man U or Arsenal draw or lose I'm damn happy only because i memang tak suka Arsene Wenger and Alex Ferguson. Both of them always action and buka satu mata tutup satu mata.

Maybe I didn't watch the whole game. But when I start watching, I saw Ferreira head the ball out of the ball to concede the corner. Even Cech applauded his action. Few minutes later, he did the salsa dance (Twist and turn), come on.. You gotta admit it's good. tongue.gif

some part of ferreira is really good but then when he go up, coming back to defence will be horror... pace is something he dont have, should have aware of it... im need to applaude him on staying with the blues for so long, and fill in when we missing ppl, but then he still need to understand his weakness...

hopefully, the coaches able to improve him and make him a better player...

Mikel John Obi, John Obi Mikel, Obi John Mikel, John Mikel Obi? "His first name is John, Michael is his confirmation name and the family name is Obi," says the player's father, Michael. Mikel – the name that is emblazoned across the back of his Chelsea and Nigeria jerseys – first appeared as a typo on a team-sheet when he represented Nigeria at under‑17 level. He liked the sound and appropriated it. "He considers that his football name," says his father.

I just want to comment on the performance of Ramires. This is because I put a lot of faith in him. His price tag is 18mil. IMO:

1>2m was justified through his sense of positioning. This one has improved by a lot! As a midfielder, it is your job to provide option for your team mate to make passes and Ramires did this brilliantly.

2>2m was justified in what I would say as 'industrious' box-to-box run. When he go forwad, he did help a lot with the attacking department. When he track back for defensive duties, he do it superbly. Although he did conceded several corners, it is better than the opposition can have a try on goal

3>4m was justified through his vision in making a pass. Lets not forget how many times he make a brilliant through pass last night. Anelka, Ashley Cole, and even Malouda have all benefited from his brilliant passing

4>2m was justified by his counter-attack abilities. Although he was offside, did you see how he make the run? Such speed is what even Lampard is lacking.

5>2m was justified by his 'bad-boy' decision. As a box-to-box player, you need to have this ability. The ability to make a foul when necessary and when to hack down a player, especially without conceding a foul. Yes, I admit this is not a gentlemen style of play but look how Nigel de Jong, Flamini, Gattuso and even Fletcher play. Make the opponent scare by your presence.

As for me, 12m of his price tag has been justified. This is the first time I am very impressed with him. I put 6m more if he can maintain this form and improve his muscle. Yep, he is too thin ^^

Every player needs time to settle in. It either we patient enough to wait. And he's just 19 when he first joined Chelsea.

Give him some time bebeh. We will see more of him soon. Once he can speak and understand fluent English, yaa.. A lot of people predict he will be the signing of the season in BPL this year. Let him groom and gel into the team, and we will see Brazil Samba in Chelsea icon_rolleyes.gif

although i was whining that zhirkov should have started before ramires, looks like he is slowly proving me wrong.

ramires looked much better yesterday compared to the last time he played.

cech was solid at the back, brana had a good game, alex with that cannon of a shot, JT as good as usual, ashley as good as usual, mikel was a monster, essien was up and down the field, ramires was up and down the field, malouda was hardworking, drogba was a beast and i was very satisfied with anelka but he was alright.

He made some awesome sprint, creating chances. He is a lot better than MC match laugh.gif

at the earlier stage, Ramires look a bit shaky..then me n my dad go like "there he goes again, bloody skillful but damn weak"..then out of nothing, he make a clean tackle n provide a beauty thru pass to cole and Drogba finish it..After that, he never look back..woohoo..

the only down side, Josh didnt get his chance last to play a part tongue.gif

i concur. he's slowly adapting into fast play of EPL, he's improving. looking forward his next game.

agree.

well, cut him some slack. he looks more confident last night.

4>2m was justified by his counter-attack abilities. Although he was offside, did you see how he make the run? Such speed is what even Lampard is lacking.
eh, i thought he wasnt offside? that was a timely run, and the linesman is a douche  tongue.gif

Holy moly guacamole! Alex did it again, another rocket free kick flex.gif easily EPL goal of the week, no goal keeper on earth can save that.

i almost wanna rant with Ramires performance, he started slow and always put our defence in jeopardize with the missed pass and lost of posession. but then again, he's the one who changed the game to 1-0. his vision amazed me! i hope he can break our no. 7 jinx/flop.

Anelka oh anelka, how can u missed that tongue.gif facepalm.

begovic did put up some good performance for stoke compared to our turnbull. i'd say go ahead, im quite sure turnbull will agree too, since he isnt getting much match time in our bench anyways.

ill only be against it if we have to fork out too huge of a sum for a second keeper.

How about 4.5m + turnbull? It's the price we offered for him, of course without any player going the opposite way.

well, it is important to have a decent backup keeper for a team competing on all fronts.

4.5 sounds okay since ross came for free. i dont think we're gonna get anything out of him either from his performance for us.

Added on October 4, 2010, 1:56 pmLOL. song could have deflect it with his shoulders but i think any wall would be scared to even touch the ball. i think it would be worse if alex hit the wall, someone might get injured.

great match and the most important thing is, 3 points in the bag!!!
the first goal seems like a flick from drog using his left foot. no one can expect it to go towards goal!!
(remember last season at emirates 0-3, 1st goal, also by drog, quite similar with this, even from the same side of the field..)

and credit to arsenal, that match quite balance for me, it could have gone to either way..
infact their attack seems more dangerous than ours.. seems like they were the home side..
remember arshavin thunder bolt twice denied by cech, superb saves especially the 2nd one..

to be frank, IMO that position is more to alex's distance than drog's ...heheh.

Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, anyone? Anyways, twelve days to go to face Aston Villa away. I guess that would be the first test for Gérard Houllier to test his squad. And also the comeback for our SUPER FRANK! rclxm9.gif Also, Benayoun move to Belgrade to receive treatment.

I think it looks kinda bad for England on frontline now but I think Kevin Davies has always been a main figure at Bolton. Also, our very own number 23 is selected as well right?

He need to be a regular in our squad or at least do something special, only then he will be called. As per youngster, I believe Johnson and Wilshere is ahead of him.

and i guess we dont need to worry about drogba injury too if this is true.

QUOTE
Meanwhile Malouda’s Blues teammate Didier Drogba has been dealt a humiliating snub - with Ivory Coast’s new boss telling him: 'You’ll return when I say so.'
And the in-form striker has been branded disrespectful by Francois Zahoui after insisting on missing the Elephants’ last game to recover his strength.

Former captain Drogba, 32, had hoped to make his comeback in their upcoming African Nations Cup qualifier in Burundi. However little-known Ivorian Zahoui, who replaced Sven-Goran Eriksson as national coach, left him out of his squad.
His decision caused amazement in the west African country, not least from 71-cap Drogba - the Elephants’ all-time leading scorer.
Zahoui rapped: 'Didier Drogba will make his return when I decide to bring him back.
'Drogba is not the only player in the national side. It is disrespectful to the other players to think about him alone.
'You have to show respect to the other players - who fight for their country.'

I thought they self-suspend themselves after the poor performance @ WC10? 2 years if my memory serves me right.

Full England squad to face Montenegro: Foster (Birmingham City), Green (West Ham United), Hart (Manchester City); A Cole (Chelsea), Jagielka (Everton), G Johnson (Liverpool), Ferdinand (Manchester United), Lescott (Manchester City), Terry (Chelsea), Warnock (Aston Villa); Barry (Manchester City), J Cole (Liverpool), Gerrard (Liverpool), Huddlestone (Tottenham Hotspur), A Johnson (Manchester City), Lennon (Tottenham Hotspur), Wilshere (Arsenal), Wright-Phillips (Manchester City), Young (Aston Villa); Bent (Sunderland), Crouch (Tottenham Hotspur), Davies (Bolton Wanderers), Rooney (Manchester United).

Only two represent England. Lampard is not listed since hes injured. biggrin.gif

Do we need another left-back?

I think WE NEED a left back.
We only having 2 decent left back(In my mind)
Zhirkov and Ashley Cole.

Wow, that means only terry and ashley will play in international and others rest in house? That's pretty good!

As for me...we got enough LB...Cole, ZHirkov, Annholt, Bertrand..England International..Russia International...Dutch U-21..and England U-21...

If In any case Cole leave or Zhirkov leave..we need to sign..but also based on Aanholt performances...

Alex has been ruled out of Brazil's friendly international matches against Iran on Thursday and Ukraine on Monday. He has been sidelined with a thigh injury picked up at the weekend and will be out for approximately 3 weeks.

Since we are up againts Villa next, I have a bit concern on our CB. Villa got 2 good target man, Heskey and Carew. Hopefully, they are going to play a wide open game, rather than direct long ball into the box.

Our next 3 games would be:-
Villa (Away)
Wolves (home)
Blackburn (away)

So JT Iva will be tested and hope they gel well. Wish the tank speedy recovery!

After conversion, the price would be 115.15

Alex out for three weeks. Means he's only missing Aston Villa and Spartak Moscow game at away. And the bright side, Ramires selected for Brazil squad against Iran and Ukraine. Good for him to train up his work rate and passing skills. Come back stronger Rami! biggrin.gif International week ahead! laugh.gif

indeed ramires read this thread and knew it was his time to shine!! lol laugh.gif
very good game by the brazilian i must say. a couple of errors earlier in the game, but when he started playing aggressive u could see he's one heck of an energetic dynamo. instrumental in breaking the deadlock with a defence splitting pass which at first hand looked overhit, but when u saw ashley charging down that left flank, u know that's exactly what he aimed for.

i'm going for the less popular decision and nominate ALEX as man of the match. nipped in front of arsenal's attackers countless times to intercept a pass, displaying sublime timing and great body strength. dominated in the air, and topped it off with one of his favourite piledrivers. a big factor in our cleansheet and 3 points. how unfortunate for him to get that injury, looked like he tore a groin muscle after that freekick. oh well..was for a good cause. huhu.

mikel was the chain that held our midfield together. knew exactly when to slow things down and when to play it forward quickly. kept calm in arsenal's relentless closing down and shielded the ball like his life depended on it, whenever he was pressured. like i said before, first name on the team sheet.

the drog. well what can i say...its not chelsea's fault he has a personal vendetta against arsenal. all the better for us aye! biggrin.gif
gotta be honest though..in the beginning he didn't really look up for it. after that piece of classy finishing, there wasn't any doubt though. maintained his battering of the arsenal defense throughout, and headed out a few corners from defense to showcase a fantastic overall display. a WORLD of difference from the display at city.

players who weren't up to par were nico and malouda. that open goal miss was a shocker. almost expected the flag to go up for offside or something then i watched the replay and wondered what the heck just happened. did the hard part, failed the easy part. that floated pass for ashley was a beaut, but didn't make up for his unusually quiet game.

same goes for malouda. i struggle to recall anything useful he did apart from looking up to complain at the ref whenever he was dispossessed. didn't attempt to take on arsenal's defenders either. i'm not sure if he's carrying an injury or what, but he's definitely not been himself for the past 2 games. yuri came on and easily created two clear goal scoring chances, within the space of 10-15 mins. 1 through ball for the bison, and another perfectly cushioned header for the same player (again!) which he failed to finish. louda needs a rest imho. in my eyes yuri is ahead of him now.

to be honest , arsenal looked much, much hungrier than when they played us last season. they'll rue that early chance that chamakh missed, and it would be interesting to see how we recover from conceding an early goal. Surely they’re a little frustrated as they looked a lot more menacing this time around, but it’s the same old story of failing to break down our defense. Thoroughly enjoyed both teams’ open approach to the match.

UP THE CHELS!

our captain might not play for England this time around too due to a rib injury.

QUOTE
BRAZILIAN wonderkid Neymar last night told SunSport: "It would be great to get the chance to play for Chelsea. I feel excited about it."

The Blues made a £25million bid for the teenager in the summer which was rejected by Santos.

But Neymar, 18, still has his eyes on Stamford Bridge.

In an exclusive interview, he said: "To play for Chelsea would be an honour. Everything they have to offer is attractive to me.

"They have big players, they are in big competitions, they have a strong squad and I like the way they play.

"Top players want to be part of something like that. I'm no different. But I'm happy at Santos.

"If I left it wouldn't be because Santos isn't a good place to be but only because the Premier League is a higher level.

"It wasn't the right time for me to go in the summer but I will be much better prepared for it by next year."
QUOTE
WHEN Chelsea made their audacious move for the brilliant Brazilian Neymar two months ago, all hell broke loose.

Operation 'Neymar Must Not Go' swung into action at his club Santos - and the great and the good were called on to persuade the 18-year-old genius he should stay home and continue his football education.

The greatest of them all, Pele - a Santos legend - got right in Neymar's ear and even the President of Brazil delivered an address on the subject.

Eventually, after much soul-searching and a family pow-wow, the teenager caved in and accepted the Santos decision to rebuff Chelsea's £25million offer.

He signed a new contract until 2015 and there were parties in the streets in celebration.

But Neymar's burning desire to join Chelsea has never gone away.

He believes that to establish himself as one of the world's top players, he must experience the thrill of the Premier League and the joy of mixing it with the elite in the Champions League.

Neymar has supreme confidence in his own ability and realises he cannot become a true superstar by playing his club football in South America.

He wants to be ranked up there alongside the stellar names of Messi and Ronaldo.

Relaxed as he assessed his situation, Neymar said: "A player with a winning mentality like I have has to play in the best places like Chelsea.

"Santos is my club. I love it. But it is not at as high a level as the English Premier League.

"I want to go where I can become a world-class player. I have ambitions to be the best player in the world.

"But more than that, I want to play in the top tournaments and if I do well and I deserve to be voted the best, then that will be fantastic.

"I watch Premier League football all the time, whenever I get the chance, and I enjoy the speed of the game and that it is so straight-forward and direct. That is something which really appeals to me.

"Chelsea have some fantastic players like Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard and I would love to play with them.

"I don't know where I would fit in because that would be up to the coach. But I can play however they want me to. I'm confident in any position."

There is a view that Neymar's slight build and the fact he is only 5ft 8in mean he could not cope with the physical side of English football.

But he laughed: "I would just escape the challenges and dribble past the defenders.

"If you are positive and strong in the mind you can achieve what you want to."

Neymar has had his problems at Santos since Chelsea tried to sign him. There was a dispute with coach Dorival Junior over penalty-taking duties and the coach has since been sacked.

The youngster was also axed from the latest Brazil squad in what has been widely interpreted as a show of support for Dorival.

But Neymar insists he is no trouble-maker.

He said: "There was one isolated incident when I felt I should be taking the penalties but he didn't want me to. I made a mistake and apologised.

"The coach left because he and the board of directors didn't think alike. It was nothing to do with me, I respected him."

Quantcast

Neymar remains committed to playing for his country. He scored on his debut in a 2-0 win over the USA in August and has huge ambitions on the international scene.

He said: "The World Cup is being held in Brazil in 2014 and that will be amazing to be part of.

"Also there is the Olympics in London in two years' time.

"I enjoy playing for Brazil and nothing has changed that."

So how does he see the future panning out?

Neymar said: "It was a family decision not to move last time.

"I spoke with my mother and father and it was decided it was best not to go at that time.

"But I'm preparing to move. I will be in a better state of mind and ready for it next time.

"There are already Brazilian players at Chelsea, Alex and Ramires. I know of Alex because he used to be at Santos although it was a while ago.

"And I played with Ramires for the national team, but I haven't had a chance to talk with him about Chelsea yet. I'm sure we will though."

Neymar's overseas agent, Pini Zahavi, said: "I have been following this boy since he was 16. I believe that he has the potential to be at the level of Pele, Maradona, Messi and Ronaldo.

"He has everything and the most important thing is he scores goals.

"Chelsea showed interest in Neymar a long time ago. The team needs this type of player and it's a perfect match-up.

"Santos is a great club and the people in charge are fantastic. I'm sure they will recognise that the boy has to progress.

"I understand why they wanted to keep him. But he needs to have his life and to become the best he has to leave Brazil."

santos valued this kid pretty high. well, its take it or leave it. but its good to know that neymar himself is claiming that he wants to join us.

its rare to be honest, a kid from brazil would want to join Chelsea instead of the usual barcelona and real madrid.

I'd go for Lukaku than Neymar. And not to forget we need to loan him out to Belgian or Dutch club before we can use him due to work permit issues. If my memory serves me right, Belgian takes two and Dutch takes three to obtain their citizenship. Neymar have to represent their country in senior level at least 70% in past two years in order to qualify to obtain a work permit if he didn't want to get loan out which I think it's impossible because I've seen him once in senior squad of Brazil. So even if we get that kid's signature, we cannot use him right away. Solely this point just turns my interest to somewhere else.

On the other hand, Lukaku is already represent Belgium 4 times and he's one year younger than Neymar. Not to mention we don't need scratch head about his work permit. laugh.gif

if we appeal, we might be able to bring him in. like with ramires? if im not mistaken, ramires is also did not automatically qualify for work permit in England.

lukaku is good too. he would be drogba's replacement but then again, can he cope? drogba is one of the best strikers in the world, can such a young player fill in the shoes of DIDIER DROGBA?

yeay, if we did bring in lukaku..i'm afraid he might end up be another carlton cole..the shoe of Drogba is too huge for anyone else to fill..based on liverpool current conundrum, i bet we might have a chance to Torres..who is Premier League proven striker biggrin.gif

after reading what he said in the interview above, I went to youtube and checked out "Best of Neymar" videos and all I have to say that he celebrates goals rather arrogantly but skill wise he looks normal. I don't think he is worth 25mil and after watching the vids I'm happy he didn't come to Chelsea.

but usually the arrogant ones are the good ones. LOL.

i'd welcome either neymar or lukaku if they arrive at stamford bridge. but they'd better work their asses off for the club!

yes, torres would be another good choice if we can manage to get him. he is a very fearsome striker but i just dont think he has the built, unless we change our attacking approach if he happens to be our center forward.

What did I tell u guys? He really wanted to join us, and apparently that hasn’t changed.

and i think most of u here are secretly still open to such a talent enlisting in the blue army! tongue.gif
Positive words indeed from the young gun, but the chase will never be over till he signs on the dotted line. Such well known public and sporting figures pressured him all at once, its no wonder he opted to stay. I doubt any 18 year old under the spotlight would be able to withstand the kind of press he was getting. and i have a sneaky feeling ramires and alex have been ‘keeping in touch’ with him icon_idea.gif

i dont think a player can be very injury prone. well, maybe in certain cases like hargreaves but you cannot doubt that torres has been rushed into games because they needed him even if he wasnt 100% fit. putting him into games when he obviously isnt fit did not gave his body enough time to recover, or the medical staff at liverpool isnt good enough. lol.

i dont see the point of sacrificing a few seasons for "rebuild" when we could continue our winning ways by getting 1 or 2 big proven players like torres.

If you guys didn't realized, Torres is still a prolific striker. He's only 26, the age we signed Drogba from Marseille. And I am really interested in seeing Torres in blues. laugh.gif No players are born injury prone. It's because the manager force the process of recovering injury and put them into play before they are completely heal or match fit. Owen Hargreaves for example. I've never heard of him injured that long while he was still in Bayern Munich.

Besides that, the training scheme also plays a part of the injury. Maybe Liverpool's training scheme is just not suitable for Torres. And since the reds are having problems with their club affairs, I think this is the best chance we snatch him away from pool and make him the blue blood! tongue.gif 25 million for an unknown young player where media touted him as one of the best forward in near future (Media's word can believe wan meh?) hmm.gif, or 25 million for a proven star in the league we're playing, I'd rather go for Torres, ANYDAY!

EDIT: Not to mention he's also a natural goal scorer. tongue.gif

actually hargreaves' injury problems were well documented even at bayern. why united were determined to snare him away from the bundesliga giants for such a high price is still a mystery if u ask me. i think some (if not most?) united fans know he's turning out be one really really bad signing due to his fitness problems.

sorry to burst your bubble mate, but 25 million for torres is NEVER going to happen. it'll be 40 at the very least and mark my words, once barca or city get involved, it'll spiral into the region of 50 - 60 mil. roman isn't going to sanction that, not in our wildest dreams. apart from that, has torres even mentioned us?even once? the answer is no. that in itself will enable liverpool to play hardball, and drive the price up even further. as lovely as it would be for him to stride out in blue, i just don't see it materialising.

considering our most recent outlays of 17 - 18 million pounds for yuri and ramires, 25 for neymar sounds much, much more probable. and that is if the price stays that way.

Torres in 25millions is never going to happen. I tag him around 40-60millions AT LEAST. That's really high, very very high.

20-25millions for Neymar sounds ok for me but I am worrying for his attitude problem, I don't want a player to cause problem for the club.

Lot of our player come back from a long rest. Do you think we can ramp on Aston Villa again? 4 for Lampard again? Who knows? icon_idea.gif

Hahaha, I know Torres won't be available at that kind of rate. Just compare and contrast. The main point is that why take youngsters that are not proven instead? We need someone to fit in Drogba's shoe and I don't think it's wise spending on youngsters as we already have plenty. laugh.gif

yes that seems to be the problem now. there's no quick fix solution for our ageing ivorian..even if we somehow managed to get torres, it would be quite devastating if he didn't hit top form almost immediately, given the extravagant fee we'll be expected to shell out. in that sense, neymar technically has more time to adapt due to his young age, and lack of experience in the epl.

currently we don't have any striker who's in the drogba mould, except maybe mitrovic who's still way too young. this is also another reason why i'm beginning to miss di santo, who seems to be slowly finding his feet at wigan. sad.gif

admittedly, torres is better suited to quickly adapt to any epl team. neymar will have to start from scratch. BUT neither is a direct replacement for didier.
lukaku's another great option, but other teams are beginning to sniff around and that worries me. those pics he posed for at the bridge may well mean nothing in the end. it'll come down to which team acts sooner imo, and chelsea aren't well known for that!

Maybe it's too early to say the line up, but I can't wait tongue.gif
Ferreira-Iva-Terry-Zhirkov
Essien-Mikel-Lampard
Anelka-Drogba-Kalou

I would like to see Ashley having a rest. He must be very tired after all the international matches.
Ferreira to start, but may give some minutes/20minutes to Bos if he is fully fit.
Malouda need a rest. He didn't perform in last 2matches.Which is disappointing.Hopefully Kalou can start.
I don't dare to drop Mikel neither Essien for Ramires. They control our midfield completely. We need them. But can give Ramires some time when we have a big lead.

On the other note
Benayoun out for months with ruptured Achilles
Few month[S] sad.gif

Mitrovic is way too young...but if Drog can stay for another 3 season Mitrovic should be ready...He more like Ibra to me...Lukaku is directly just like Drogba...but still raw...have power..pace...skill...but none of them at the same par as Drogba...hmmm Di Santo need time...and that one things we dont have...He went on loan at the wrong time...

Ramires...hmm maybe not...Carlo wont risk Lampard...he will get minutes here and there..he should know by now..Essien and Mikel wont easily go to bench unless...Ramries deliver something special...

the loss of yossi will definitely have an impact on our season. midfield is one of the hardest roles to play if the youngsters were to fill in for him. we've lost alot of senior players last season, losing one now thins our squad by huge margins. good thing lampard and bosingwa are coming back at the right time. iva will fill in for alex and bosingwa will take back his right back role.

quite the right timing i would say. hopefully there will be no more injuries.

the loss of yossi could persuade chelsea to do one of two things: get someone for cover in january, or accelerate the process of blooding josh/kakuta. both are good options.

definitely the right timing. boss should be fit for villa. would take some time to get up to speed though. not worried about his attacking instincts, just his defending that needs to be sharp against a rejuvenated villa team.

to be honest, im getting quite excited about neymar wanting to play for us and the deal would be done in 2011.

He's gonna need to hit the gym big time though if he wants to play in the EPL. Defenders will hold him off or chop him down. Either way I don't see any of our current players being able to do what Drogba does or has the qualities that makes Drogba special. Players that come to mind when talking about someone in the mould of Drogba would be Van Nisterooy or Ibrahimovic. Anybody know any twenty something players like that?

I don't think Neymar would be an improvement from Sturridge or Borini. They are similar in playstyle, ie small, fast and skilled with the ball.

although i dont like that little dwarf that is messi, he is definitely the hardest player to play against for terry and ashley. they had a hard time containing him during our encounters and if neymar is a good enough dribbler, i do think he can cause trouble in premier league defenses. dont get me wrong, i too, like a big center forward type like drogba in our play, but i think this neymar kid is really good.

kerpy should know that i've always side the more direct passing game compared to the fancy dribbling stuff.

I think we have more than enough to actually cover the injury areas. Just waiting Ancelotti's approval on letting the youngsters to shine. tongue.gif Currently the injured players are Kalou, Alex and Benayoun. Kalou is a super-sub so that shouldn't be a problem, we can let Sturridge fit into his shoe. Alex got Ivanovic to replace and *touch wood* anything happens, Bruma can step up. Benayoun is still a sub, McEachran is already there. brows.gif

Neymar have not taste the BPL frenzy yet. Spending millions of pounds just to get a kid when we already have the likes of Borini, Kakuta, Sturridge? I thought Abramovich wanted to stop spending big bucks on players already? We just started generate some revenue.. sad.gif

Not really. We need to add new dimension to our current tactic and stuff. Currently, we play more direct attacking football with physical and target man approach and less dribbling. I believe Neymar can provide that. He can open up defense with his pace and skills. Opening up would lead to more space for Drogba and Lampard to put himself into good position before receiving any pass. With his technique, he can win a lot of free kick and we do love FK dont we?

As for Kalou, do you guys notice, if he come in as a subs, he'll score?

Neymar would probably need time to adjust to the EPL, much like Kalou when he first joined the club. Jury's still out on him though.

Yossi's loss would not be that far-fetching, he was not starting anyway on the first 11. Alex's one would be more 'damaging' seeing that Bos is only starting to get back into the rhythm after being out for so long. Ferreira will be in RB in place of Iva who goes on to partner JT, until Bos comes back proper for the 1st team.

As for the youngsters, CA is doing well by starting/subbing them in bits and pieces. Sometimes too much too fast would not be good for their development, esp in the EPL. Look at Ramsey and Wilshere, they too took their time to settle, so it'd be wise to do the same with young Josh and Gael as well as Patrick.

KA-CHING. U hit the nail on the head bro. currently we have no players who fall into the same category. anelka 7,8 years ago would probably resemble a neymar at his peak. at times we sorely lack that special player who dares to attempt the extraordinary, particularly against teams who park the bus and another 18-wheeler behind it. mceachran imho looks set to become our new and improved version of deco (though i did compare him to zola once smile.gif) , while kakuta will be the successor to malouda. however, the latter has shown he has the skills to be our flair player too, on the left. so a future pairing of him and neymar would be a dream really.

the thought of ferreira going up against ashley young...terrifies me. sweat.gif
i'd much rather have the bos, who at least has the speed to chase down anyone who runs past him.

too much too soon can indeed backfire. carlo needs to be careful with this.

we could just keep ashley young quiet by man marking him. oh crap. i forgot there is still downing. i think he is doing pretty good for villa recently? we should just play our football, or even play like how we played against arsenal. i think if we can score the first goal, we can score more and win the game like last season when they came to the bridge.

Always in a good mood if some big players linked with us...Neymar...hmm..im 50-50 about this..cuz we still got a few youngsters that ready to be in the 1st team...

GK : I dont know any outstanding one..
Defender : Chalo..Manci..and Kalas
Midfielder : Conor Clifford..Kaby and Cork
Att Mid/Winger : Tore,Lalkovic and Billy Clifford
Striker : Mitrovic and Prosenik

Should we buy Neymar? I dont know...

Aston Villa revival is stunning...so far..but I prefer Iva retain his RB with Bruma step up to partner JT...any1?

We lost 2-1 at Villa Park last year. But then we hammered them 7-1 at SW6.

The pace of A.Young would be a treat, not to forget England U21, Albrighton. Albrighton work rate and pacey will surely be a treat.

And we normally dont drop deep although up against pacey team. Its a concern as well if Paolo start the match, but well, he did a good job keeping Messi in his pocket last time. If he got skin tooo easily, then we need to change our approach.

i would prefer iva to play center back with JT. maybe bruma can have some FA cup games or even champions league games if we have comfortable points in the group.

i dont wanna risk losing points by fielding in bruma when Iva is a good center back and can boost the chances of taking home 3 points.

we actually have alot of players on loan too. i wonder how are they doing.

i think one of our members here mentioned about not understanding iva's sub for paulo during the arsenal game. i share the same sentiment. no offense to our much decorated portugese as its really just age catching up to him, but when he came on, arsenal threatened a lot more from his flank. i noticed iva failed to support the attack upfront, but he more than held his own against arsenal's speed demons. so the decision to take him off was baffling to say the least.

iva to partner JT vs villa, and the boss to get one hell of a difficult comeback game! bruma vs heskey/agbonlahor is just too much of a risk. hmm.gif

Ferreira in for Iva could be CA trying to slow the pace down, as Iva more than often bombs forward than Ferreira. Also, Ferreira may be slow, but has bags of experience to maybe 'gauge' what Arsenal will be trying next (in form of attacking).

Also, Iva looks tired by the time he was subbed as well, prompting CA to put on 'fresher' legs.

New stadium i dont think will be anytime soon. When RA come in he actually develop area around the stadium too, so expansion on STAMFORD BRIDGE is more likely. This also subject to whether SB still got space for further seat expansion. But with RA riches, if we need a new stadium, i think we would be able to build a new one without the need of taking loan from bank. I think to be self sustain club is also very important as according to forbes RA billion have depreciate too tongue.gif 2006 he is worth 18.2b

Arsenal supporter here, issue about the new stadium attract my attention so just sharing some info here.

Regarding moving to a new stadium I don't know if it'll really benefit you guys. It's not simply by moving into new stadium the club will rake in more money. The traditional size of the supporters play a big part here.

Here's an article that explain why Arsenal made the move to a new stadium and Tottenham contemplating to do the same.

hmmm, i dont think there is much harm in expanding, if expandable, because currently, there is no space around stamford bridge that can be expanded.

if we expand, we can lower the price of the tickets by a little, and more fans will come to the bridge. grow might be slow in London but around the world, i do think there are more and more Chelsea fans.

its a slow process, but i think the expansion of the stadium will do more good than harm. the only problem is, to move from our current grounds. we cant.

Not planning to burst your bubbles or anything, but for those who think it's wise to expand the stadium's capacity or more to a new stadium, they should stop and read this first:

Roman Abramovich has spent £457m finding 1,639 new Chelsea fans...no wonder the Russian is trimming his investment

QUOTE
In the seven years before Roman Abramovich took over at Chelsea, the club spent £106million on players and drew an average gate of 39,784.

Since Abramovich arrived, £457m has been poured into the transfer market and attendances have risen - to 41,423.
That is a difference of just 1,639 people, or £278,828 per fan. No wonder the talk is that Abramovich is trimming his investment, introducing cost-cutting measures and reduced transfer budgets at Stamford Bridge.

Never forget that three league titles have been won in his time, and an equivalent number of FA Cups. The League Cup has been won twice and Chelsea have appeared in the last four of the Champions League on no fewer than five occasions.
There are obviously contributory factors, not least the capacity at Stamford Bridge. It is likely that for certain big matches the club could have sold considerably more than the 42,449 permitted.

Yet Chelsea's average gate since Abramovich came in would still not constitute a sell-out. The fact is that while the significance of Chelsea has grown in Abramovich's seven years, the size of the club has remained largely unmoved.
It is not familiarity that has bred this contempt, either. Over the preceding decades the supporters hardly had the opportunity to grow weary of the heights of European football, yet it is noticeable that the ground is rarely full for Champions League group games.

Chelsea should have exploded in Abramovich's time, making a move to bigger premises essential. He has done everything right. He has invested substantially in players of good quality, who have in turn delivered success. He has encouraged entertaining football, and 44 goals in 11 games this season suggest an ambition fulfilled there, too.

He even froze ticket prices for four years prior to this season, equating to a net deduction of 15 per cent, with inflation considered. So what is Chelsea's problem? Strangely, there isn't one. They are simply proof of how incredibly hard it is to grow a club organically beyond its traditional size.

Arsenal moved from Highbury, where the capacity at closure was 38,419, to a new stadium at Ashburton Grove holding 60,355, and filled it instantly. Yet Arsenal have long been established as the biggest club in London and at the time of leaving Highbury had a 20,000-strong waiting list for season tickets, closed for some time. This, in part, prompted their move. The board knew that, in essence, Arsenal were a club with a following of 60,000; it was just that 22,000 of them couldn't fit inside the stadium.

Part of the reason Tottenham Hotspur are so desperate to upgrade White Hart Lane is to accommodate their own substantial waiting list. Yet on June 9, Chelsea announced season tickets were available to any 2010/11 member with 67 loyalty points or more, the equivalent of having attended every home match last season, using a ticket purchased on free sale.

Chelsea continue to look at plans to expand, but without the enthusiasm that exists elsewhere. Their big leap came between 1989 and 2003 when the average gate rose from 15,957 to 39,770. They hit the 41,000-mark the following year and have remained there since.
Bruce Buck, the chairman, is a realist. Abramovich is too, in his way. Beyond swapping lunacy for financial responsibility, his enthusiasm does not wane. Even with unprecedented success and £457m lavished on players, Chelsea find growth hard, yet Abramovich has not lost interest, as many expected.

But how many will follow him, once UEFA's poorly-conceived financial regulations take hold? If Chelsea's progress in joining the traditional upper echelons of European football is so dauntingly slow, imagine how difficult it will be when clubs are denied the potential of fast-tracking through owner investment? The transition from small to middling, middling to elite, will be glacial, and considerably more problematic than it is already.

If Abramovich cannot do it, who can? And more importantly, who will be bothered?

Seriously those who complain are just plain jealous, all other club are dreaming to have an owner like RA. Because he is a football man and love the club not like some arab sheik for publicity stun or some yanks for milking profits.

BLUES PLAN TO STAY AT THE BRIDGE
Chelsea have again reiterated their desire to remain at Stamford Bridge.

Last season Frank Lampard was top of their figures with 17 assists followed by Cesc Fabregas on 15, Drogba on 13, James Milner 12, Ryan Giggs 11 and Nicolas Anelka 10.

The all-time Premier League list up to the end of last season is Giggs 90, Lampard 81, Steven Gerrard 71. Next among Chelsea players was Anelka with 48.

Nicky Fernandez asks who were the last teams to come to the Bridge in the Premier League, beat us and keep a clean sheet.

In reverse order the last four were:

2008/09 - Liverpool won 1-0
2003/04 - Liverpool won 1-0
2001/2 - Man United won 3-0
2001/2 - Charlton won 1-0

looks like its not easy for teams to keep clean sheets against us at the bridge smile.gif

Malouda want some samba football before he finishes his career. Neymar suspect following Rooney's habit? On the other hand, we might see another German midfielder coming to us with Arsenal thinks they have the funds to get his signature.

i think there is too much media surrounding the brazilian young superstar. but i dont really care if he bring back whores to his hotel room, as long as he performs on the pitch.

our number 9 is still vacant. its a sign!

looks like our number 7 jinx is no longer in effect!

Talking about stadium. I remember I play FIFA 11 last few days, I heard the commentator said: "is it Stamford Bridge big enough for Chelsea?"
I am not very sure, but then it's something like that tongue.gif

Wow, we won't have the Chelsea name if we move from SB. I don't think it's now to build/expand the stadium. By the way, do we still have the space to expand?

what have u ever won in real world? sorry pal but playing CM for 10 year does not make you a manager.

Capello is spot. Let me explain. Terry is never the nippiest defender in the league. He is slow as a whale. Now. Over the years in the england set up he was partnered by Ferdinand who is alot faster and more agile than our Johnny T

this is no longer the case guv. As we all know Ferdinand have a troublesome back. He can no longer cover Terry deficiency in covering a rampaging forward

just look at the City game. Look at home Terry got absolutely raped by Tevez. Not even Cole can catch up with him. Capello is just using logic. The achilles heel in the England D is the slowness of the 2 center backs.

Broughton (Liverpool chairman) 'scoured the world' for sugar daddy

"We searched the world looking for another owner like the ones at Chelsea and Manchester City. With all of Liverpool's traditions, heritage, history and powerful global brand, I must admit I thought it would be possible to find one.

"We hoped for someone who wanted a 'trophy asset', but having scoured the world without finding one, the conclusion is that there are no more Romans out there.

"Yes, of course, it is disappointing that even a name like Liverpool failed to attract one, so I cannot imagine other club having much luck."

"But the truth is that there is only one Roman Abramovich, there is only one Sheikh Mansour, because we couldn't find another one."

EPL might look very competitive but the England squad is not. Its clear from the defend line. From Robert Green the keeper, needless to explain. Glen Johnson doing one of the worse job in his life. Letting Podolski open while he himself stand beside Terry in CB position. CB, unexperienced with ppl like Jagielka, Dawson, absence of Ferdinand, but i must highlight about Terry's woeful performances. Constantly caught off position and doing mistakes. Not too much as good as his old him. It might be the ball, but too bad for Terry, he is the one who is on hot light now.

In midfield, capello couldn't deploy Gerrard and Lampard both as CM. Because they are both offensive players and having both of them just means no inter passing between CMs. He had to push Gerard to wing position. So who can take over Lampard's place? Gareth Barry, one of the worse defensive midfield i ever seen. Far from convincing. Always looking for physical battle and sometimes becomes too rough. The likes of Essien, Obi Mikel in Chelsea is far more superior than Barry. But who else can Capello field in as his def midfield. owen hargreaves is out, carrick is out of form.

The striking department was all about Defoe. Rooney's aweful performance says it all.

Yes, he won a lot of award, but the thing about Terry now is his form. He just suddenly dive down in form after the scandal. He is just not the mighty Terry in the world cup. Too many mistakes i guess. Well, Ferdinand seems to be back in the team for Manchester United. I guess Capello will asses him again and see if he still suit the captaincy and even the England squad. If he performs like Terry, im sure he will be axed from the team. And i wouldn't be surprised if Terry gets ommited too.

A good read on England's current issue from picking players till captaincy. On the other news, He wants to be back on Villa game and equal cap for left back Ashley Cole with former legend Kenny Sansom.

EDIT: Non-related to club news; Pato's love on first sight. Sadly not BPL clubs.

That down to the lack of opportunity to play...England prefer to play their biggest available players...all star players..

I think I know why Terry hard to perform nowdays because in England squad..there are no good holding midfielder...Terry can perform at Chelsea because of Mikel and Essien...

Ferdinand shouldn't be at all for me from the start...Gerrard Captain..Lampard Vice...Rooney/Cole 3rd...

I think the problem within England squad is the chemistry of the selected players. You must admit there is certain player that is doing averagely for their club or sometime worse but when they put on the national jersey, they become so good. Some name that I recall are Podolski and Higuain. Compare how they both play for their respective club as how they play with the national team and you will get what I mean.

Since everyone is blaming Terry, is there anyone can replace him? If I am the coach, I will not chose Ferdinand. Not because he is man utd player, but he did'nt play for very long time. Yup, he is good but when you have been sidelined for months, your skill become rusty. Furthermore, selecting Fedinand ahead of other CBs who have been playing week in week out for their respective club is not fair.

Next is about Lampard-Gerard partnership. I agree both of them cannot play together. Tactical wise, both of the player's area of coverage is too wide and it overlaps with each other. Means that sometimes both of them are defending and sometimes both are attacking. This will cause a conflict of interest in the team. Who should I pass to, who is the playmaker, who going to cover the back four etc.. Having both of them is good. But playing those two TOGETHER is not good. Both got their own magic. Let say put Gerard ahead of Lampard. If he fails to deliver, sub him out for Lampard.

Added on October 11, 2010, 8:36 amaww bad news for us. terry suffered from back injury. hope it is not serious problem. i wonder why he kept playing for england although england fans doesn't appreciate him that much.

stop playing for england and let them use their 'awesome' ferdinand-the-captain together with other partnership. maybe after that england can even win inter-galactic football tournament.

dont use the word "our" when you're going to condemn Terry. the number of goals we conceded is a collective effort on the whole defensive line at the back. so far Alex has been Terry's partner for majority of the games in the premier league and champions league. Alex is much larger and and slower compared to Terry and yet why do we have such a superb defensive record. because Terry is that good. and you're a moron.

i dont know what city game are you watching, but Cole made one mistake that lead to the only goal of the game. it wasnt even Terry's fault. other than that, i thought that dwarf was on the bench.

i am not going to say anything about capello and his tactics. he definitely has the quality players at his disposal. how he uses them, the results show.

if capello is going to axe Terry, so be it. its better for the club and if its better for england like you say, then great. you'll just tell yourself how much of a retard that you are when ferdinand makes one or two mistakes.

They are injured for international fixture. Not our away game against Villa. Plus, we have Ivanovic to replace Alex to start with Terry. Cole on the left and Ferreira on the right. Introduce Bosingwa in 60th - 65th minute would be great. All midfielders are back except Benayoun and couple of players who might need more practice after recover from injury, that's including Lampard. Our attacking force no injuries at all. Drogba, Anelka and Sturridge are ready to fire but hopefully Kalou can recover before the Villa game. I think we're safe to say that we're not losing too many key players. smile.gif

OT: De Jong in deep sh1t. At least Roy Keane was better. laugh.gif

Current injured list: Terry (Back problem), Alex, Kalou, Benayoun (Hamstring), Lampard (Hernia). Anymore? hmm.gif

Lastest news: Title says it all. We'll see how the "new" England captain perform. whistling.gif

reports say that Branislav "Brana" Ivanovic whos contract expires at 2011 will get an extension!

currently 26 years old, he could still serve us for a long time! his agent indicates that he will most probably sign instead of moving.

i find it funny when other thread talking about our player which cost our money not theirs, i thought everyone in the world knew that SAF is kind of crazy guy
who like to buy any unfamous player and try to turn them into a star?  for the god sake, its our money not theirs ..definetly Manchester UNITED 7M not theirs.
SAF know how to use the money wisely unlike......  hmm.gif  hmm.gif
*
found this in our rival's thread. woow the world will be a very peace place if everybody realize the money WE spend on OUR player is OUR MONEY. Not theirs. Even when we buy the 30m Shevchenko, we didn't rob a bank to funds it. afterward, came the quality issue. nobody is perfect. SAF, benitez and even wenger got their fair share of bad signings.

btw, haters will always be haters.

Chelsea keeping track on Vucinic the striker. On the other hand, Arsenal won the race to sign Anderlecht goal-scoring machine?

Vucinic is a good addition but I dont know if we need him...the critical position now will be RB and RW...

Lukaku hmm I dont know..but I'm not sure he will be at Stamford Bridge next season but i'm sure if he move..it will be us..if not...I think he will be in Italy or Spain...

Hi all chelsea fans, here a question

If it's just priority access to match tickets for every Chelsea game you want, this is the tier of membership for you. Members pay £5 less than non-members for match tickets so you only need to watch Chelsea five times and you'll recoup your membership fee!

But....How a non-member can buy a match ticket??

Fans should know sometimes is not possible to replicate the club form to country form. Simply because the formation/tactic and teammate play along side is different. But i have no doubt of the player determination to do well for their national team and they dont deserve those excessive criticism. If they are not appreciated, might as well stay in the club and get more rest, why go out to be boos by fans and having risk getting inured.

Is the manager who decide who get to play in the national team, the formation, the tactic and their job is harder compare to a club manager because they dont have the luxury to buy the player they want or work with the team everyday. So is more about putting the right person on the right position than packing all the superstar into the starting lineup. I think CAPELLO is doing a good job but if he have to drop LAMPARD to bench for GERRARD so be it. To me ENGLAND team are just overrated and media over hype, the most realistic expectation for them is to be able to reach quaterfinal stage. Yes they have very good player but so do other national team. If you tell me they should win a major tournament that is overrated and you must be watching too much EPL and too ignorant about other player all over the world.

Btw:Kaka to Chelsea?

QUOTE
However, the report claims that Perez is willing to cooperate if Premier League side Chelsea make an offer. Kaka has reportedly already told Madrid that he'd be interested in joining the Blues and the Spanish titans would consider a good offer from the London side.

not sure whether he will be a good addition to us or not. when he come here next season, he already 29. and i think for a player of his caliber, the price tag surely around 20-30m.. and considering his current form and injury proneness, i dont think it will be a good buy.

yeah. kaka has been too injury prone as of late. and yes he is getting older, past his prime. i dont think there is any benefits from purchasing the brazilian midfielder/forward.

20m max is what i'd be willing to let go for him.

BENAYOUN FACES LONG LAYOFF

Yossi Benayoun will undergo surgery on his Achilles on Monday.

The Israeli international returned to the club from international duty last week, and will now be out of action for approximately six months.

Two other squad members who were prevented from representing their countries due to thigh injuries, Salomon Kalou and Alex, are due to return to full training next week, while Jeffrey Bruma, who withdrew from the Dutch Under 21 squad before the game on Tuesday due to tight hamstrings, is scheduled to train as normal on Thursday.

anyone read benny's interview on how chelsea's doctors inexplicably missed his torn achilles injury? even after undergoing scans? apparently the israeli team doctor was the one who spotted the problem. haih...this isn't the first time i've questioned the effectiveness of our healthcare system. wouldn't mind a whole revamp of our medical staff, to be honest with u. this has happened several times, involving severe injuries. not minor ones. and that's worrying.

a quality player for 5 million. dont expect too much from benny. he is getting old, the least he could do is play well when he can.

i am actually one of the benayoun admirers when he was playing in liverpool. one of the phrase ill never forget from one of the commentators when watching a liverpool game is

"benayoun, dancinnnng in the box.."

well, nothing he can do bout the injury..i think he got unlucky with that one..he was not the kind of injury prone neither a consistent lampard type of player..hopefully he can make a tremendous comeback in 6 month..

kaka's a magical player but that was like 2 years ago. its worrying to see how he's failed to recapture that form at madrid, even after playing a fair number of minutes. no go for me, especially when u take into account his age and hefty price tag (2 important things which are really analysed by chelsea nowadays). roman will not be tempted into another sheva-like fiasco. he's too proud for that smile.gif

Benayoun injury and the missed by our medical staffs is a pure unlucky...but the staffs need to improve the seriousness conducting the medical check up...

Kaka for me 50-50..because of the emergence of Josh...but with the current situation...i mean where do you think Kaka will play if he sign with us??

Lampard-Essien
Mikel

this is the top 3 midfielder now..Ramires next in the line...

If he really sign for us..we might have to sacrifice Malouda..which unlikely to happen now...

Kaka
Lampard-Essien
Mikel

....so for me..No go for him unless we got another long term injury in our top 4 midfielder..Lampard,Essien,Mikel and Ramires...

Regarding or last 4...there are several choices

Option 1

Ferriera,Ivanovic,Essien,Cole

Option 2

Ferriera,Ivanovic,Aanholt,Cole

Option 3

Ferriera,Ivanovic,Drogba?,Cole

Option 4

Ferriera,Ivanovic,Chalo,Cole

And I think Terry just missing the International fixture, not the away game against Villa. hmm.gif

Line up for AV.
Ferreira-Ivanovic-Essien-Cole
Ramires-Mikel-Lampard
Anelka-Drogba-Malouda

Sounds good for me biggrin.gif
Our left side's attack is back to ultimate mode.
Even when Ferreira caught out of position, we have Ramires to cover.
Ramires is getting better every match. Who knows he impressed us this week?

wow phillip lahm.. last time during world cup 2006, he was at left back. quite surprised to see him play at right back during the recent world cup. for me, i really hope the deal can go through. maybe a player exchange can offset the amount we need to pay for him. ashley cole is already 30 so having lahm as a utility player is great. i'm sure he can still play the left back position.
