when did u register ur new number? Mine, it was around 2pm. And my line only activated around 11 pm + +. So it took approx 9 hours ++....
*
I go register on 4pm, the Digi staff help me do everything including insert the sim into the iphone, make testing call and stuff like that. I get the iphone from the centre around 9pm, straight away can call edi. Maybe diff from KL centre cuz KL too many ppl buy.... i think.

for digi.....meaning we can ask for the mini sim? or you have the option to take it out as a mini sim instead of micro?

for maxis? the allow eh since my account is for iphone3g...contract still in place...

Sure .. there is no reason for them to deny your request. The Digi sim card that I was given has two cutout, one for normal SIM and inner side has cutout for micro SIM. If you cut to the micro SIM, and need to go back to normal SIM, just put back the micro SIM, and to make it sturday, probably just tape it.

This is what I've:

---------------------------

Tomz, Turion64, we are in the same boat, I threw a big fuss on Sat, asking stupid questions like "how do I know when the line is active?" which when I asked from the vague staff manning the payment counter up to the some senior Digi staff revealed that they will key in the details MANUALLY.

With the answers they gave me, I made similar calls on Mon (said 24hrs activated but not done), Tuesday (threw a very big fuss; again was told 24hrs activated) and Wedsday lunch hour (last night) to reveal my number was in the system and the request to port was made. Last night's little language glitch also gave me the opportunity to double check and confirm that the rebate and my credit card details are in as well.

So yes, we made our "payments" on Sat, but I bet on Julia Robert's pretty smile that the pool of names were not keyed into the system until a few days later.

MINI-UPDATE 5: My previous post at page 10,14,25. finally my no is ported but was told to wait 1st Oct before my plan I selected (iDigi88, RM58 monthly) is activated. Bastards.
*
Hope this helps. This is what i get from CS :

During the temporary 7days Mnp plan :

-The call charges is still the same, there is RM0.15 per minute, RM0.10 per sms and the data services we give you for 500MB.
-This temporary plan have a expiry date for 7 days, so we giving you free 500MB data usage within the 7 days

@ turion64
from Quill, my buddy LY paid on Saturday evening, new SIM activated Sunday evening (existing Digi customer)
from some other Digi center, another buddy (SHC) ported in from Maxis, got his new SIM card activated within 24hours, got his iPhone4 shortly afterwards. I'm not sure why y'all are complaining here. go complain on the Digi FaceBook page / twitter. Apple will see those, and Digi will definitely ignore us here.

@wilson_png contact AppleCare 1800 803 638 and inform them. find out what they say. Also, do claim warranty in Digi centre, not Digi partner. list is here > http://www.digi.com.my/support/general/digicentres_search.do

As much as we are consumers and feel we have the right to be unreasonable, we need to maintain a certain amount of objectivity. Look at it from a business perspective. Assuming they sell you the device and your MNP does not go through. They run the risk of you not switching in the end but walking away with an iPhone. Telcos don't make money from the phones, they make money from your line. As we all know, many MNP cases get delayed because of outstanding bills and there is a good risk of telcos losing out if they allow everyone to walk away with the phone without being certain that you will use their line. What would you suggest Digi do knowing this? I personally feel it's fair that they wait for your switch to be approved before selling you the phone and line.

There is also room for abuse. How much does the phone itself cost in lowyat? 3K? What's to stop dealers from sending people to port in and taking the devices immediately, only for the port to be unsuccessful later? These dealers then get the phones for a lower retail price and sell it to you marginally higher then telcos do with their plans. Again, a business risk.

Like any other consumer, I'd like to have my way all the time but having been working for some time now, I am more aware of why companies sometimes have to run the risk of pissing customers off to protect themselves. Don't be too quick to criticise without understanding why.

@ Duke Red yeah, that's what I asked when I realised that loophole. AFAIK, if you want to port in, you are not a Digi customer till after the port-in isn't approved. so they cannot sell you iPhone4 till that point.

@ firestream its kinda sucky that you had to go all the way there, but there's 45 Digi centres, why did you pick one which serves nearly 5000 people? find another one which has less people nearby? or wait... when they have less demand, you'll be able to walk in n get it, assuming your port-in is approved biggrin.gif
