it looks huge, but it's not actually. quite a nice size, although i know there is a smaller (standard) size for soft shutters.

Oh yeah, for the hood or any 49mm hood like the X100 ones, the correct snap lens cap size is 58mm.

Just bought my X100 a couple days ago after poison by stevehuff.
IMO Steve Huff's reviews are garbage, but I digress.

I brought the X100 and a 5D2 + 50 1.2 with me to Brisbane, and I've been here for more than 3 weeks. I've taken 95% of my photos so far with the X100 - and the reason for this is because it's so much lighter compared to the DSLR combination. It produces good enough output for my uses, so I don't feel like it's much of a compromise. On many ocassions I simply can't be bothered carrying such a heavy load, and that's where the X100 is perfect.

Though I still have my qualms with its user interface, I'm for the most part happy with whatever the X100 has been able to deliver so far.

hi bro,

http://photorumors.com/2011/05/31/fuji-fin...-review-take-2/
link above well address those concern or critic. I kind of agree with it.
Actually i do well aware all those quirks before i decide to get X100. Nothing is perfect, it is depend on your needs. Size really matter here. that is y GF3 right now is freaking small, looks like a soap brick laugh.gif
It is good news right now u are "most happy" of its performance. Me too. It is such phenomenal camera & realize there are many new forums dedicated for X100 & many X100 specific topics discussion thread appeared in many famous forum, it is just amazing.

if they can fix only one thing about the camera in the upcoming firmware, i want it to be the manual focusing system. if they can fix that, i'm gonna be soooo happy biggrin.gif that, to me, is the only one "feature" that is useless, so make it useful fuji!

if they wanna add one feature, that would be peaking/zebra meter! adding this alone would change this prosumer cam into a pro cam, IMO

does anybody know of a canon/nikon camera that has this? or all their dslr cams have this ah?

It's an Elitist thing really... Fuji's right to price and feature it out of the comfort zone of the noobies tongue.gif

i read in an x100 forum that one of the things that fuji is looking at in the new firmware is the peaking function. might be just rumours though, but would be awesome if fuji actually responds to their hardcore/niche/cult base if they did, much like ricoh and the hardcore GR userbase.

the peaking function shows the focused area. something like in the new NEX-C3 (and possibly in my NEX-3 in the upcoming firmware). See video, around the 2:20 mark

better manual control + peaking = rangerfinder meter = x100 as a modern rangefinder biggrin.gif

zebra however i believe is in all pro camcorders (and now in prosumer camcorders as well) that shows overexposed area by showing you a black-white stripe pattern. don't think this feature is common/available in digital cameras though, but it'll be good if they have it. broadcast tv's absolutely hate overexposed/pure white areas in your vids, and can reject your tape/video if you put one (it messes up the broadcast signals basically).

again, i don't know if any dslrs have this feature, as it's a common thing in videoland. but would be nice smile.gif
