it doesn't quite fit your traditional rf terminology, but i'll be damned if it didn't have the rf soul/ethos built in it! tongue.gif The HVF and in-camera in-depth raw processing is awesome! the JPEG is seriously very, very good as well. Don't know how'd they cram it, but if you can appreciate technology, you'll definitely appreciate this like how you appreciate a noc thumbup.gif

I've been handling video cameras of five and six-figure RM and whenever I have to... "wind down" (for a lack of a better phrase) and use cameras, I always loathe dslrs for their shoddy and less-complementary viewfinders. I can never get something relatively as good and informative as the one in the high-end videocams' viewfinders and controls. Although it might sound like I'm asking a lot, it's not. No-nonsense running-man/mountain/sun dials, informative viewfinders, etc. Give me what I need, and that's all.

Having said that, after using the camera for a bit now, one thing that I'd wish for is a dedicated button for ND. Oh, and an ISO dial would be nice too.

The AF seems to be contrast-based, although in my usage, as long as you can understand it's quirks, the AF is definitely in the "fast" category. The noise is very very low, and the "film" grain (it's not noise when it's pretty tongue.gif) when shooting in B&W is almost like what you can get in a pentax k.

Oh and I'll definitely call this a rangefinder, no matter what "professionals" say about its pretentious RF design and capability. I'm a pro too, and I can afford a flashy car compared to most, so my opinion should carry some weight, no? whistling.gif

Aiyooooo dude, yes it's a nice camera n all but comparing it to a Noctilux is insane. The Noctilux alone can buy most ppl's car oredi. N it most definitely isn't a rangefinder. tongue.gif

nowhere, and i've looked at almost every single shop around kl, melaka, kelantan, etc.

and you know what I've found out after getting this x100?

most camera shops in malaysia are crap! have absolutely no idea what they're selling. and even if they do, like if they sell filters, their knowledge is up to what they sell, and that's it.

try asking around for a "female to female" adapter or a 49-49mm adapter. all blank face! somemore in my experience in shit shops like camworld etc they like dowanna layan you because you're carrying an old (by design only la mcb) camera!

i haven't gone to eng tong ss2 yet though. heard they sell and distribute lots of filters and alike.

Just bought my X100 a couple days ago after poison by stevehuff.
I has been juggling between Panasonic G3 & X100, finally i made the kill on X100 as i want something slim/small/with extremely good pic quality, & most important i will stay away from the multiple lens poison tongue.gif

My impression on X100,
- box packaging is nothing to shout about, just decent, original strap is just normal PU stuff (if it is genuine leather it will be awesome)
- Camera is damn solid built, it surprisingly quite large size though & slight weight more than i expected
- All buttons/dials feels nice (just like other i think the MENU/OK is slight small, someone didn't paste another button on top of it so it is easier to access), i wish it has 1 more addition Fn (customize button) & ISO independent dial too.
- Hybrid viewfinder is awesome, OVF is super clear & nice but has some parallax error, so most the time i am using EVF instead
- F2 aperture bokeh effect is pretty nice
- F4 aperture is razor sharp
- FujiChinon lens is sharp & have good clarity

For those who has doubts about this camera u can check out below site for tips
http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2011/05/11/t...-by-steve-huff/
No camera is perfect, read more details review as following
http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2011/05/03/t...-by-steve-huff/

Here are my findings on X100
- It doesn't have Face detection, so u have to train yourself to focus & more aware where to focus, when using DSLR, we take things for granted, just press zoom button, the rest is happen so fast & history.
- Its AF is slow compare to DSLR or M4/3 (GF2), especially on macro shot, but compare to other Rangefinder camera which don;t even have AF. So i think i can live with it. But normal landscape focus is pretty fast.
- Many did complain as it can't AF in the dark situation, but after reading Stevehuff tips, i switch on AF assist light (i off all the sound & silent mode), darn it really can capture very dark situation (even my dark fur chinchilla is able to capture), the picture clarity is so nice IMO & i didn't use any flash
- I did use the Sandisk 16GB 50mb/s, startup is just like instantly (no issue for me)
- If u want to something really more macro short, i found out u can use AEL/AFL button to zoom in further on MF mode
- EV dial is really useful, whenever u are shooting at nite or bright situation
- ND filter is really useful, so i set my FN button to ND filter quick access
- many bracketing option can be used (ISO, EV, film mode & etc)

I wish X100 will be better if
- battery life is longer like 550D can handle up to 500+ pix, while X100 can handle around 260-300 pix (need to off LCD, i did activate fast start mode)
- fast AF (closes to GF2), it will be perfect

*i am still waiting for the my Hood & adapter ring coming this week
*i pimp it with red soft release button & red strap.
*after 2-3days messing around with X100, i am able to gain more knowledge on camera parameter control & its effect ( i am consider newbies)
*I did bought another original spare battery

Just sharing my thoughts, don't flame me if i mentioned anything wrong above as i am newbies in photographing

Really eff-up my budget for the next coming months... Shouldn't have visited the Fotokem booth last weekend, they have a X100 unit there, and lucky(or unlucky) me everyone else went for Nikon/Canon dSLR products while the X100 is empty, they don't know what they are missing!

Anyway, Fotokem has stocks now, RM3880 you will get one leather pouch with your X100 too!

Check this video.
basically u can used pentax 28mm F3.5 Square Hood, with Thick filter (remove the glass). U can add on some thin film tape onto the inner diameter hood to make it more tight fit.
BTW u can used Sony NEX-3 cap to cover ur x100 lens.

i agree. they rather waste time in traveling to shopping centres and dealing with SPM school leavers sales assistants who do not have much knowledge about the stuffs that they are selling

you got to check what type of lenses use 49mm hood. not the usual lenses i assume. i didn't say it's professional.
YL and keat still caters to the mass. they cant afford to carry accessories that only cater to the few photographers.
that explains why they do not have a lot of other stuffs.

i didn't say that. i said i have problem with sales assistant with not much knowledge of the stuffs that they sell. i am sure you have problems with them too. got to read the whole sentence babe
