I have one question. Our away games have been horrible tough games so far. How does this season compare with similar fixtures from last season?

we lost at everton,fulham and won at bolton wch if many remember were going trough a management change at that time we had that own goal, berba with 2 and gibbo scoring.

so its an improvement by not a big margin.as for where is wes, he is fit after 90min in carling cup.he might get some playing time at valencia.

a bit more info on the same fixtures, last season we traveled to fulham in middle of december(19 dec), to everton in feb(feb 20) and to bolton in march.

so that gives a light on how quick were facing those teams this season.

This Season's Away League Matches | Last Season's Result

D 2-2 @ Fulham | L 3-0 => 1pt gained this season
D 3-3 @ Everton | L 3-1 => 1pt gained this season
D 2-2 @ Bolton | W 4-0 => 2pts dropped this season

So we end up not gaining anything point wise! laugh.gif Then we scored more this season (7 to 5) BUT also conceded more (7 to 6) sweat.gif

Comparison of the first 6 league matches between this season and last season:

P 6 W 3 D 3 L 0 GF 16 GA 9 GD 7 Pts 12 [W 3-0 v Newcastle, D 2-2 @ Fulham, W 3-0 v West Ham, D 3-3 @ Everton, W 3-2 v Liverpool, D 2-2 @ Bolton]

P 6 W 5 D 0 L 1 GF 15 GA 6 GD 9 Pts 15 [W 1-0 v Birmingham, L 1-0 @ Burnley, W 5-0 @ Wigan, W 2-1 v Arsenal, W 3-1 @ Tottenham, W 4-3 v Man City]

yeah, thats why it will be a perfect place to set things straight.the saying "were slow starters" comes to mind and although it might be seen as cliché i think thats just what we are.no one can possibly be happy with the 3 draws we have but looking on good side we still havent lost any games, were still 3 pts away from the leader and its still early on.
*
i always thought we were slow starters when it comes to the fasting month laugh.gif

but, if we have a look at alien's stats, fixtures last season was even tougher compared to this season. we were against arsenal, spurs and city in the last three and we won all three of them. the only positive side is we are still unbeaten.

Looking at the stats, I guess things aren't as bad a they seem, then. Let's hope for the team picks themselves up after this.

Any guesses on the line up vs Valencia?

Has IcyDarling been banned for jinxing the team to a 2 - 2 draw? tongue.gif

I am hoping to see Macheda and Berbatov partnering next match... let Rooney come from sub for the moment... i think he is suffering frm the lost of confidence. Let the other shoulder the burden first, take the burden off him for the moment.

i rather lose 1 game than draw 2. whats the point of unbeaten. ZZZZZ.

lose 1 game = -3 points
draw 2 games = losing 4 points.

If you look at only the first 6 games, and compare them to the first 6 games from last season, then yes, but that is inaccurate.

If you look at the games, similar fixtures this season vs similar fixtures last season, it's

Draw 3 games vs Win 1 Lose 2

So, we're really par for the course, currently.

It would be nice if we could win the league with unbeaten record. But its hard with current team in the league, all beefed up already.

yea put rooney on subs.. only start him on easier fixture. he has been struggling for a while now. people said he need matches but look like it doesnt work. easier fixture match or coming from subs maybe what he needs. more minute play for owen,hernandez,kiko.. they really need it.

Bolton pressure us a lot yesterday - without foul ( I suppose clean tackle - not blaming the ref here ). Credit to them.

We're missing Tony I guess. I won't mind having JOS in RB as long as Tony is there to cover him. Nani is attack-minded it seems, eventho he also track back on several occasion.

Our defence must be sorted. However I don't think SAF will drop the usual back 4 as he will keep faith on them till they rediscover their form - which is fine by me but really I can't stand the nerve watching the team conceded. 2-2, 3-3 sweat.gif

Btw is we playing 4-3-3 yesterday after Owen & Macheda in? I think the team playing very well after that.
