QUOTE(sbd @ Nov 12 2010, 03:35 PM)
hehehe seems I get the last laugh, after I posted this:

"You guys seem to have your math twisted.

Just buy the tab at 1849 with the cheapest one year contract and even if you throw away/don't use the 3G, you end up paying 1849 plus rm48 for 12 months which is 576 so the total you pay for the device is rm2425.00. Tell me I am wrong - I can't be because I just did it by buying it. I suppose the only catch is that you need to buy under a Maxis user's line."

and many of you replied/posted that Maxis can't be trusted even if you dont use the data, they will screw you.

Guess what, I just terminated the contract yesterday and paid a rm500 penalty so my cost is 1849 plus 500 for basically an outright purchase.

If I had kept the data plan going, even if I don;t use the data, I would have ended up paying nearly rm600 (12 months x rm48) and also the possibility of nasty Maxis charges! So there another nearly rm100 saving...
*
Do we need to go to Maxis Center to cancel our contract and pay the penalty of RM500 on the spot?
The reason being that I'm now under contract for my HTC Desire and I like the Samsung Tab but when I call the Maxis, they say I need to subscribe another line, therefore it is expensive for me lo smile.gif

Instead it would be wise for me to cancel my existing contract.

yes you have to go to maxis to cancel because you have to pay for the cancellation on the spot; different contracts have different termination fees but i am sure it wont cost an arm and a leg. you can also sell off your desire (at a profit since you got it cheap) and use that profit to bu a tab outright and keep the original data plan and use it for the tab.

I just recorded my user review of the Samsung Galaxy Tab that I bought on the first day that Maxis started selling at selected Maxis store. Appreciate all the LYN forumers to view, rate and comment.

If you haven't bought one yet and have any questions for me (been using it for about 3 weeks + now), feel free to ask, OK?

Thanks for all the support, you guys. *wink*

Thanks for correcting my white screen issue.

It's 16gb? Oh well. I think its more than enough for me.

Mail for Exchange can't handle the many subfolders I have for the amount of work emails I receive. I prefer Touchdown.

Sorry for saying "actually" too much. I dont have a script. I just wing it. Hehehe.

I'm using my Cyberlink Power Director. Cool software.

Thanks for watching and commenting.

Hi winnie..quite a good review there!

How about the owners to start sharing the screenshots, recomended games n apps that runs well on the tab as well as the accesories?

Perhaps someone can pinned it up to the top thread together with the FAQs as well so that it could be useful for everyone....

Anybody care to start?

Guys, how's the voice call quality?

I'm previously attached myself to Dell Streak cos I was thinking that 5" should be the maximum size to be pocketable already and besides, my past experience with Samsung devices had given me hell lot of nightmares already so I dun really trust Samsung device ever since.

But this Tab is really tempting for web-browsing and ebooks reading...
Or even throw in Comics into Memory Card and read them!

So I'm kinda swaying between Dell Streak and Tab...
Therefore, for those who has compared Streak and Tab, can you please give me some guidance on which one is better in overall experience?
Let aside the OS difference since Streak has already got its Froyo already...

My main concerns are:
Portability
Battery Consumption
Voice call quality
Custom ROM possibilites

any reply is much appreciated smile.gif

thanks!

thanks. 6 hours eh?

Seems just mediocre for battery performance hmm.gif
but still I guess during workdays I seldom use it for 6 hours continuous...
