The rooting process for this phone is damn complicated. The only guide for 2.51 is written by someone with broken english and i cannot under4stand what he means at all. Any tips?

do u know what is RSD used for? and what is .sbf?


- install rsd lite in your pc
- switch off your defy.
- boot into flashing mode (vol up + power on)
- release the button after few second, and connect your usb and u will see some white text on your defy
- open rsd lite, browse to the boot only.sbf, and click start.
- wait until your defy reboot.

maybe that's the problem.. use rsd lite 4.9..

Those of you that use superoneclick to root just open it with admin right or need to on and off usb debugging? I will try to update it in front page soon along with full guide for flashing to froyo with best stable and smoothness setting

Got my phone Saturday, didnt really get to play around with it yet but really a steep learning curve blush.gif Need 2 get used to all the things first b4 I start playing around with other things inc rooting + flashing icon_idea.gif

Starting to get used the swype thumbup.gif My next target is play with the launchers and Froyo~ brows.gif whistling.gif

But the sbf file for 2.51 firmware that available in and-developers is GB version not SEA.
Is that really matter to service centre if the phone does not show SEA version?

crap....maxis centres that are located in shopping malls all out of stock for defy... wanted to get two pieces on saturday... anyone knows if theres any maxis centres (which are open on normal office hours) in selangor area which has it?

IMHO, no point getting from Maxis. Better get unlocked unit, and go register for data plan, without contract, read: Digi @ Rm68/month
