anyone can compare this one with philips bdp3200? already got 1 n happy with it but a fren for a bd player to recomend maybe this c5500 better? so many to choose in 399 range too

Are you sure, you could still find C5500? I suggest, you to walk to the store and compare the spec or try googling it. I dont think many would own both player to compare.

Just got a D5100. Sadly it can't play big mkv files smoothly (i.e. > 4GB) ... it plays but jerking like crazy ... and the files i tried are just >4GB mkv 720p files, it's not even full HD!

anyone experiencing the same problems?

wanna try upgrading firmware but can't so far... sad.gif

any advice appreciated!

thx

I own the older model (C5500). I dont think it plays mkv files flawlessly. I have some mkv files which doesnt play at all, but I can play them without any issues in my NMT. I guess the BD player cannot play mkv files with certain encoding or compressed headers, unlike the NMT which can handle everything. Maybe you can try to re-encode your mkv's, but you need to check with other forumers how to go about doing this. Or maybe a firmware upgrade can do.

i actually own the C5500 as well and the few same large files can be played there flawlessly (no jerk at all)., But playing in this newer D5100, they jerk like crazy ... which doesn't really make sense. I thought newer models should be more versatile with newer firmwares etc...

puzzling eh?

sent and email too to samsung msia about this and they want me to bring the set over to test... hmm... that's kinda leceh i guess

anyone out there with D5100 do comment!

Wanted to play a BD concert iso extracted folder on my C5500. Noted there are files VTS_01_1, VTS_01_2 ... 6, all of the same size. When I played each one on my PC, they look the same. Why 6 of the same content but different names ? May be BD player uses all the 6 files for better picture quality ? Appreciate some insight on why so many of the same files.

Thanks.

Just upgraded the C5500 firmware to 1021. Can't play FLAC format music. Heard that it is possible to play FLAC music on C5500 on the net. Appreciate advice on how to do this. Thanks.

sorry mate, didnt try that...i guess you folks are very adventures in trying the USB for movies and songs, I prefer to use the REAL Media Player to play those, rather than using the TV or BD player, since those are at very infant stage at this point in time...

Giant having promotion for RM359. There is also a coupon for RM20 off in their coupons book. So price is RM339 with coupon.

I have only been playing blu ray on mine. silbii also described similar problem as yours. Be sure to record the issue with Samsung.

Yes, that is correct. Not only hd or hi-def movies but normal or low-def also got this kind of problem. It cannot play certain encoding either audio or video. I asked samsung if i can upgrade straight away from internet, they said not advisable because they afraid if it crash while upgrading or network disconnected. Only tv issue thier technician will come to our house. Others, we need to bring the unit to samsung service center.
