Managed to get a C5500 yesterday for RM399, very good price, will try to update the firmware and change the DVD to region free tonite!

Anyone verified if you change the DVD to region 9 and later upgrade the firmware, will we need to redo the dvd region change??

You try and let us know biggrin.gif

I lazy to upgrade firmware already, I no see any different, will only do when any of my BD cannot play.

The updates seems no enhancement on the media player.

Very well, I do the region change follow by f/w upgrade and check back the region then...will let u guys know later on.

Update : The DVD Region Hack stays even after firmware upgrade. In fact, all settings still stays after F/w upgrade, so it's no problem there for region hack, but wondering whether do we need to reset all settings to default and re setup again for the new f/w to take effect...some hardware recommends that approach. hmm.gif

Hmm, I can't seem to play a 'ahem' blu Ray disc on the player, but other disc seems fine.. Any reason for that? The player says, please check disc.

Added on January 14, 2011, 6:29 pmOh and one more question, how do u actually upscale a movie? >.<

There are different quality of ahem BD in the market and different BD players have different playability for them depending on their sensitivity. I think this has to do with how the ahem BD are produced and probably not meeting some BD specifications so some BD players will not play them. Thus it is better to get original BD to get the best PQ and AQ and all the extra features that come with it. BTW, the PQ and AQ on ori BD also varies from title to title so best to check the reviews before buying. As for upscaling, AFAIK it is automatic, cannot remember if there is any option in the Samsung.

Yes it might be due to the quality of the disc, but i managed to watch the other 2 disc i got from the seller without any problem, so im wondering is it because of the region restriction problem on that particular disc?

All ahem BD is region free. I suspect that one is faulty.

Anyway for complete enjoyment - get the original. smile.gif

If your hard disk is 3.5inch one, a power adapter is needed. If 2.5inch, just plugin front or back USB port, it is workable for me up to 640GB I had try. I not trying 1TB yet but I believe they is no issue on it as well. (NTFS format is support for samsung new TV and BD player).

Possible your hard disk issue, if it is too old drive, it also not fast enough for playing back .MKV, you get jerking and lagging playback. (I had one old HDD, and it give me such problem).

heya guys,
im planning to get a bluray player soon. still wondering which model to buy. is this model can play 'ahem' bluray without a problem? coz my usual ahem seller told me that samsung bluray player can't really play all of 'ahem' bluray disc. some movies cannot play.

he told me that the best bluray player is philips, the one he's having in his shop. can play all 'ahem' bluray without problem. is this true?

where to buy this player for RM399? which shop?

last but not least, this player is a Profile 2.0 (BD-Live) rite?

thanks

No issue la, the only player I notice troublesome to play is Sharp one (that fat fat one, no idea on latest slim slim 3D BD player).

I got two BD player (Samsung BD-C5500 & Sony BD-S370) and both play fine. Get original if you want better PQ especially lessor judder issue. Ahem is facing this issue badly. (Remember most original is 50GB while ahem only 25GB).

** Judder still there, it is not 100% gone, sometimes I feel the 24P standard is a mess failure. I notice concert (most not record in 24P) no such annoying judder issue at all!
