Why not turn towards free alternatives.. good ones such as Avast! 5 Antivirus Free and Panda Cloud Antivirus ? smile.gif

Used Avast! 5 free for quite sometime.. Quite satisfied with it.. I got myself the Internet Security from a contest.. hehe..

Well, what I can say is .. it is very very light on the system.. even the IS..

One more thing, no AV/IS can protect you 100.. especially those 0-day attacks.. That's why I have MalwareBytesAntiMalware as on-demand scanner in case I feel my laptop has been infected.. DrWebCureIT is also a good file disinfector and virus remover.. All that for free smile.gif

2011 version slows down my PC without good reason and causes my CPU usage to surge sometimes.

I support Avira, it won't cause me any problem since July when I starting 2 use it. And it doesn't slow down my PC at all... If good, next year I will buy the premium version.

Use Avira since 2007... but there a some viruses that avira can't combat.. e.g C:\khq viruses.. Avira scanned it but fail to capture the malware..

now I turn to Panda Cloud Antivirus.. it's lite.. super lite.. because the main core engine is on Panda server.. but it require internet connection to operate accurately..

Operating it would become a problem for the users with limited broadband quota.

Cloud AV seems to be a long shot for me though. Yeah the main problem is you have to stay connected to the internet.

After all, if you're disconnected, you can't spread the infections you have on the PC to others. It's a good thing too.

Well, that was briefly what that was discussed in a keynote session in HITB. Lol

Well according to Panda.. There's a local cache which is built right after an Optimized Scan or Full System is completed.. So you'll have offline protection as well.. smile.gif

i've had bad experience with avg, once it detected my aimp2 audio player as trojan doh.gif
also i think kaspersky today is more bloated and ram hogging.. so my vote goes to nod32 thumbup.gif
