Just got my first VIP10 bill.... Still got till June so I can wait see if TM counter back with price slash/speed boosts. If not then I'll break the contract and make the switch. The RM500 get back in 5 months lol and the IPTV is useless anyway.

Anyone know if current UniFi setup can be used for this? I mean the fibre optic lines etc. Or will the TM guys come and remove all the cabling and we have to relay the wires? O_o

Unfortunately, that is not possible. The current TM phone line/number has to be terminated and upon registration of Maxis Fibre Home, a new number will be assigned. It will be a local area prefix number (etc: 03-XXXX XXXX) for Klang Valley area.

Yeap, will need a new number for sure. Cause the current one will be terminated by TM and Maxis will come in with a new line.

Btw, not many people are aware that this is a LIMITED TIME PROMO only. This attractive package of RM118/month will not be forever. Stated also on the official Maxis website:

http://www.maxis.com.my/home/plans_fibre_10mb.asp

Those who are really interested, adviced to sign up ASAP before the offer is up. Once the awareness and momentum is there, this offer will come to an end.

Yes, you would need to walk into the nearest TM Point to terminate UniFi and at the same time, apply for Maxis FTTH. Most of my customers apply such that the termination date coincides with the installation date of Maxis FTTH.

Would like to share my experience and feedback so far with my Maxis Fibre Home but i'm sure alot of people will say I'm bias since I'm a Maxis employee....

I shall let the others speak then.... :-)

Added on May 20, 2012, 3:16 pm

It's for the whole contract period (24 months) and beyond! :-)

I VPN back to office so that I can do work from home daily.....
Not trying to say I'm hardworking...LOL, but yes, can VPN back
*hopefully my boss see this message* :-)

All fibre cable internet providers have a 24 months contract at the moment and it is standard as the cost to lay out the infrastructure is really quite costly.

More value added goodies will come for sure.... :-)

Are you saying the RM118/month price will return to RM200+ after the 'promo' period? Like, if I subscribe now, May and June pay RM118......, then promo end, then I have to pay RM200+ per month (original rate)?

From what I understand, the 'promo' refers to installation fee waiver, and after June 30th new subscribers need to pay installation fee? Meaning the RM118 is to stay.

Please clarify.

Also, with reference to FAQ: http://www.maxis.com.my/home/faq.asp , under 'Home Wireless Internet'.

What is this? Does this mean there is a quota for using the service through WiFi? Or it is not related to the Home Fibre Internet plan?

You are correct, it will be RM118/month for the entire contract period (24 months). The limited time refers to the availability of the package. It might not be able for subscription in the near future and maybe the normal packages such as the 4Mbps for RM128/month will be offered again to new customers.

Besides the installation fee waiver, the phone line deposit rental of RM75 (for Malaysian) and RM300 (for non-Malaysian) is also waived till 30th June 2012.

Hope that answers your question.

Oohh. So the RM118 package will only be available within this 'promo' period, after which it will cease to exist, but the rates will remain for those who subscribed to it. Kinda like Hotlink Youth Club? haha.

Alright I added another question in my previous post, but I guess you missed it. Here is it again, hope you can answer as well:

With reference to FAQ: http://www.maxis.com.my/home/faq.asp , under 'Home Wireless Internet'.

What is this? Does this mean there is a quota for using the service through WiFi? Or it is not related to the Home Fibre Internet plan?

This is important as the main way I'm connected to the internet at home is through WiFi, and does not make sense to have separate quota for usage through WiFi as they are essentially the same as using through Ethernet cable.

Yes, spot on!! Those who sign up now will enjoy the rate of RM118/month for their entire contract period.

To your second question, the 'Home Wireless Internet' is for Wireless internet and not through fibre optic line. It is an entirely different product and not the same as the RM118/month for 10Mbps.

The product info for that can be found here:
http://www.maxis.com.my/home/plans_wireless.asp

You mentioned the current TM phone line needs to be terminated. Is it possible to reuse the same phone number for Maxis? Sorta like MNP but for landline?

yes, that's correct, sign up now for RM118/month for 10Mbps package.

For this, I will not be able to answer you...LOL
When they call up for confirm the installation date, you should be able to know your fixed line phone number already. Most are pre-assign, so you won't really be able to choose.

Home phone number doesn't really matter to me though since I rarely receive calls on it.... ><"
Use it to make outgoing calls only

o.O, is it also same as TM which the 1st 4 digit maxis choose for us, last 4 digit pick from the list ?
because last time my parents to tm point to set new number for new house also pick from the list
example choose either 6273 and 6274, choose 6273 then generate the number available and choose from the list
not sure about maxis @@

furthermore, I totally same with you, home number totally useless for me, nobody call me also, all call handphone instead, but it is important for my parents ~.~
