But there's already so many similar interface OS around; no other that is similar with Maemo interface. It's such a waste.

MeeGo? There's already Android; and end users most probably wouldn't know the internal difference or the OS type. Plus, the MeeGo OS interface,... somehow I feel Android interface looks better. Ouch.
Maybe he is? He looks like one  tongue.gif
We're very lucky Eiraku is still with us.  rclxm9.gif  notworthy.gif

Will you be getting another N900 or wait for MeeGo? Hope all the N900 sifus/seniors will still be within the community by then  sweat.gif
Jananan seems MIA for some time too; I've been using his suggestion to reset the swap usage thus less restart needed, but when setting swapoff, it takes some time, and if I go back to desktop or menu, the device will restart/shutdown. Need to let it finish and set it back on. Sometimes, when the swap usage too high, it refuse to off it, returning a message "Killed". No choice have to restart device.

There too many OS keep popping out lately.

FCam can really take nice pictures, plus you have many flexibility in the settings. But its slow and a bit laggy, more when you try to adjust come settings, so not suitable when you need to shoot fast.
If the object is not moving and you have time, you can try to take same picture with default cam and fcam and see the difference. FCam should give you better result, especially in conditions where default cam have poor ligthing, FCam should do better.

You can also install LowLight app and HDR app. HDR app will take pictures in nice exposure, but its slow and takes time to process. Result is great!!
LowLight will give better shots in low light conditions.

ok..thx.try lowlight and hdr b4 but crash with my default camera sad.gif

Just now after I typed swapoff -a and it seem like abit of lag and then I closed x terminal and when I try to open other app like conky and tried all the app it pop up a error which is 'too much app in use' so I have no choice and rebooted the devices and everything back to normal aiks I didn't get any error message maybe I should wait longer ? Will use the N900 for few days first until the swap is abit of high then try the guide from jananan again biggrin.gif

Wait longer, don't exit X-Terminal, don't go to Desktop, don't go to Menu.
If it's successful, it will go back to command, then you can type "free" to check the swap usage is now 0.
Then you should turn swap back on, or else you'll get into problem when the ram usage is over.

From my experience, if not successful, it will show message like "Killed"; when you type "free", you will see the swap is not turned off. I tried many times it still fails, so I restart my device instead.
You should start doing it when your swap hit like maybe 100 or more; If used up too much, your phone will be laggy and if too high, swapoff might fail to perform.
From my experience, usually when swap hit over 120mb, the performance issue is more noticeable, but it also depends on what you use and what's stored in the swap memory.
What I wonder is, how come some important process is allowed to be in swap memory which causes the phone is not respond or hang for some time (e.g. hildon-desktop? Is this process allowed to be in swap? If not, why it can stop responding?).
Usually if you access to Flash website, especially Flash games, you'll notice heavy usage of processing and swap memory.

Jananan did as much as hacking as you did but I don't think he OC's under starving profile. If I remember correctly he mentioned that he didn't OC these past month because of dependency clash of fcam & titans kernel.
Main difference between you and jananan is you did open heart surgery on you phone doh.gif

Been using nitdroid(older 0.0.6 btw).Performance so far been very encouraging but I didn't OC much because as someone said last time nitdroid still doesn't support proper cpu scaling.I heard that v 0.0.7 has lots of performance & feature additions.I'll try this version tomorrow probably.

p/s : Special credit for my sister for donating her Nokia 7610 for me while I experiment on my phone biggrin.gif

mine's massively hacked too,l and i've been running it on deal with limits 500, 1000.

nitroid 0.0.7 is a big impfovement, but needs to ber oc,d a bit to run smooth.

I think you install the driver only?
After install the driver, you need to install the app.

I've running 125MHz-850MHz & 250MHz-850MHz profile alternatively for the past 4 weeks. No much difference between battery life of 500Mhz-850Mhz ideal profile plus 250Mhz lower limit the phone late in response when unlocked..I'm gonna switch back to this 500-850MHz profile later.

About nitdroid I've to wait for a while to update.
