can we really change to global firmware? bcoz last time i update to pr1.2 global firmware my phone got bricked. mine is using UK firmware. after flashing to UK firmware pr 1.2, then the problem solved. mind to explain that?
*
must have the proper matching emmc, and kernel i think, cos i faced the same problem, but after complete reflash including emmc, its running fine with global firmware. I'm not so pro but if you're changing firmware region, i think you need to reflash emmc as well.

wahsai..i mastered the art of deleting browsing history!
says, aspire where is my present?

i just bought a new laptop, apparently its 64 bit
how to revert back to 32 bit?

find friend laptop easier.
*
Shrugs, my lappy is also new, 64-bit running windows 7, I can flash my phone but must run, Microsoft Virtual PC Windows XP Mode ( it runs a windowed version of xp while you're running win 7 ). You need to enable usb connection in xp mode, and then you can run flasher from within xp. Virtual Xp is free, but only for Win 7 home premium and higher i think. Home basic doesn't support the instalaltion from the microsoft site, but if you want tho, I have a copy of the installer file, can upload for you.

haha..my COMSAT set is already at PR 1.2, just now i borrowed a friend laptop to update, and it still show the same version (i should have spot the version before i update my firmware)
we are different set but same 18 months warranty

how bout OC, we still need XP OS?
*
depend which way u wanna OC. If permanent flash to OC kernel, then u need to be able to run flasher, which won't run on win7 64-bit, unless you use virtualXP (refer above ). I suggest using titan's advanced kernel though, its installable from the repos, and allows you to set and change custom OC limits, and voltage values.

anyways, since I'm using Taiwan firmware, should I reflash emmc if I wan change to global firmware?
*
Correct.

but there's an autoinstaller now right? All you have to do is make sure you back up your sdcard data, and recopy it back after you do the installation and autopartitioning.

Jananan did as much as hacking as you did but I don't think he OC's under starving profile. If I remember correctly he mentioned that he didn't OC these past month because of dependency clash of fcam & titans kernel.
Main difference between you and jananan is you did open heart surgery on you phone doh.gif

Been using nitdroid(older 0.0.6 btw).Performance so far been very encouraging but I didn't OC much because as someone said last time nitdroid still doesn't support proper cpu scaling.I heard that v 0.0.7 has lots of performance & feature additions.I'll try this version tomorrow probably.

p/s : Special credit for my sister for donating her Nokia 7610 for me while I experiment on my phone biggrin.gif
*
mine's massively hacked too,l and i've been running it on deal with limits 500, 1000.

nitroid 0.0.7 is a big impfovement, but needs to ber oc,d a bit to run smooth.

I've running 125MHz-850MHz & 250MHz-850MHz profile alternatively for the past 4 weeks. No much difference between battery life of 500Mhz-850Mhz ideal profile plus 250Mhz lower limit the phone late in response when unlocked..I'm gonna switch back to this 500-850MHz profile later.

About nitdroid I've to wait for a while to update.
*
i was using 250 as my lower limit too, but my hildon-desktop stops responding if unlocked from idle sometimes, all shortcuts and widgets cannot be clicked or selected, so i maintain lower limit of 500 now.

hmmm, not sure but i think maybe you need to install the latest version of Fcam from repos, the one you're using has issues with power kernel.

hehe, ppl got confused cos actually there are two phones in nokia's roadmap, one will definitely be running symbian 3rd, and is supposed to be a reworked n8. the meego device should still be on the way by end of the year. Thats why before there were pics of what looked like symbian and then meego on the same looking phone which sparked a big discussion on os, actually there will be 2. this e7, running symbian, and the n9 running meego.

i tried crystal case: it will scratches the inner part of your N900 when you slide the keyboard out
POWER KERNEL..so first page OC is power kernel, not titans kernel. I see, thanks alot.
yea..all this while we thought it is N9. Better that way, not liking the design..expect better, at least better than my current N900.
u mean both around the same design? no way..
*
i think so lar bro, cos if u compare the pic of it running symbian, and the one with it running meego, there are subtle differences, wink.gif both should have same form factor though, with slide out qwerty.

try 'symfonie' its downloadable in repos, has an equalizer, and supports portrait mode.

also, in default player, touching the now playing info, will five you a mini scrollable playlist while the current track is playing.

this work with windows mobile device using other phone but n900 cannot..
*

Very very smooth.I used the same OC profile I used in Maemo(500-850MHz).I'm using Toshiba Class 4 4GB MicroSD only but the performance is very impressive.
Anyway v0.0.8 will automatically OC NITDroid to 700Mhz.Whether you want extra "umph",it's your choice.

The whole system visual effect working really great.I can see why people likes Android.Though comparing the OS power Maemo wins hands down.
*
+1, i can see too why android is so popular, but you're right abt maemo being a more powerful OS. Apart from gaming, i don't really see a big pro for android.

some info for nitdroid users interested in OC. I'm using Setcpu app, and it allows OC OTG, can adjust up to 1150mhz, but advisable not go higher than 1gh. In fact like super_evil_alien mentioned, running on 900mhz is more than enough, but it runs equally smooth at 800mhz as well.

not sure if this is shared, i just found out that you could create shortcut to launch files on your desktop and it's pretty simple:

just open MicroB, type file:///

you will be able to access your phone directory, there's even an option for you to enable/disable hidden files.

To add shortcut, once you've typed "file:///", go to the directory of the specific file you would like to have a shortcut, for example: an excel saved under: file///home/user/MyDocs/Document/abc.xls, get this link/directory in your MicroB url and hit the '+' sign on the bottom left (to bookmark), you will have options to add to bookmark or add shortcut to your desktop, if you're only adding a folder shortcut, you could use the "add shortcut to your desktop" straight, if you want to add a file shortcut, then you need to bookmark the directory first, then edit the url in bookmark, then only add it to desktop.

Hope it make sense  tongue.gif

so far downside found:
1. there will be a microb open everytime you launch it...
2. doesn't work for excel with .xlsx file extension
*
good idea, but easier to use deskop command execution widget i feel.

shrugs, as aspire said if ur device can take it permanent OC is the easisiest. I use tian's kernel so can change the OC as i like to conserve power a bit lar when don't need so much powah, hehe. So really up to you which way to use. So far however seems titan's OC method is most stable with the new fcam version of fcam, if not mistaken from what i've read in talk.maemo

@hose who have tried kroll. It supports keypad keys right??? N.O.V.A works perfect on NITDroid except for the controls, cos it only supports the multitouch onscreen joystick.

unfortunately android doesn't have a good dev compared to maemo as small as it is, so i couldn't find a keyboard support app, neither could i find an app for modifying the led blink colours for notifications. Even if Nitdroid becomes 100% operational, i think i still prefer maemo. pretty UI's are nice to look at, but if you really utilize a lot of the n900's abilities like me, you'll find a lot of things you take for granted in maemo, missing in android.
