Yea, for Symbian I'm not sure; The available internal memory works like RAM, I suppose is available memory (RAM)?
Or maybe virtual memory?

NO, I'm not talking about internal storage. In Symbian, the internal memory is not your storage space (as in N81 8GB vs the non-8GB version; it doesn't matter if you get the 8GB or not), but memory when you install to phone memory, SMS, and also loading applications/process (RAM?).

Anyone got clear answer? How to check the ram usage for Symbian?
Why does the phone internal memory is low, applications cannot open, phone is laggy? This is similar to what happen when there is not enough ram (also refer as memory).

Even for N8, there was one incident the phone run out of memory when multi-tasking. That's internal memory.
*
In short, Symbian = N900 (short explanation):

Internal Memory = ROOTFS APP PARTITION SWAP (in Symbian, this is tiny on some phones like the N97. Like ROOTFS, it makes the device go wonky when it's full. Unlike ROOTFS, you can - and is sometimes forced to - install whole entire programs in it, which is bad. Sms, mms, emails and bluetooth sent files all go here as well, which is worse. Can be cleaned and managed with a proper file manager, app removal and some patience).

RAM = RAM (symbian loads a LOT of background processes at boot, so free RAM is also tiny unless managed by KillMe and a proper task manager. Source of the "out of memory" errors).

Mass Storage = eMMC

I was typing a LOOOONG explanation on the matter, but my E71 restarted on me (as I have set it to do, every 4am daily) so x larat to type edi. BUT the above should explain a bit what does what.

But it's a bit OT really - but Symbian really is not cut out for the everyday man IMHO. It's just too freakin complex for your average Joe to fully maintain.

Last time I tried NITDroid-0.0.7 i having problems accessing Andro Market. So I halt this plan until GSM/GPS works. nothing much I can do except making a hot battery and wifi-ing. There's a some crashes here and there too. Well, this project quite early. Hopefully those 3 geeks can reach ver 1 soon rclxms.gif . At that time, we may enjoy Android 3.0 (wishful thinking tongue.gif )

What we can do with current build was playing games and internet tongue.gif

New gen iPod touch very cheap eh? tempting to get 1 for music+game while making my n900 solely for phone+internet+movie icon_rolleyes.gif
Yesterday I borong alot apps from AppMan. You guys should try Frogatto. Nice graphic + smooth gameplay with mario+yoshi game in mind thumbup.gif
