stock batt from N900? 1 year?
The N900 hasn't 1 year yet, I think you mean the same battery model as N900?

It also depends on your usage and how you charge the battery; Frequent discharge will affect it's lifespan and performance.

What connection are you using which have such short batt life? If 3G, then it will really drain your battery fast and also heat up your battery. Then depends on what kind of website you surf, those flash websites or those take require much processing power will definitely drain more.
On GSM mode (2G/2.5G), it can last much more longer.
WiFi even more longer, but ever since I'm using titan's kernel v40, the WiFi seems to consume more power even on idle.

i've been using my n900 bought from UK for a year now..not from MY
using wifi surfing youtube mostly..sometimes non flash web tongue.gif
i can say i've been and still recharging my batt twice a day lately shakehead.gif

owh and u can use the wifi switcher app to turn it off when in idle state..save more batt

i maybe outdated but for a proc to perform faster(oc) it requires more voltage to operate..general knowledge no?

take an example:

why do u think a pc proc need to increase certain voltage to oc? why cant u just oc with same voltage as the stock speed?

more voltage = more drainage from battery
refardless your perform task faster or not..and yes oc gives more smoother and stable experience
but for everyday use..browsing web while listening to mp3? smooth enough for me

oc = heat
heat = no1 enemy in electronics component
heat = decrease electronics's life cycle
*
fyi, for the case of our n900. the stock voltage is higher than required. you can safely undervolt to save your battery when you oc (try it with Titan's kernel).

ya, many ppl use titan's kernel to adjust the voltage lower than stock.

Bro, OC = heat is only applicable if you do not undervolt. All N900 OCing includes undervolting, and as such generates less heat then you'd think. Some profiles in Titan's kernel run 900mhz with lower voltages than the factory stock 600mhz = not much diff in generated heat.

IINM anyway. Also, a slight overclock means that tasks are completed faster = you can go back to idle faster. That is the general concept behind the "overclock saves battery" movement. But even so, all this HAS NOT BEEN EMPIRICALLY TESTED, so nobody knows for sure.

Heck, OCing CAN even be dangerous to your eMMC by starving and killing it through undervolting (like I PROBABLY did) BUT nobody knows for sure. We need more dead N900s to make that assumption.

I know jananan at least hacks his N900 almost as much as I do (maybe even more) but his device is still not dead lol.

I know, but N900 was only officially released only around end of November or early December last year right?
In September 2009, if I remember correctly, there might be test models for developers or something.
Did you mean you got those units? Those units as I know, might have the USB port issue.

When they initially successfully overclock the N900, the voltage used was the same with 600Mhz and there was improvements on battery life as feedback by those that have OC. The logical explanation would be the task completed faster?
As for heat, the heat that we felt was from the battery; nobody actually knows the temperature or heat from the cpu itself. That's also what I've read; Actually, there're few devices running on same processor already OC long before N900.
The funny thing is how the initial reply from many people when someone suggested to overclock the N900. Moreover, the Droid/Milestone has been OC for months already when OC on N900 still on discussion whether it is possible. For the Android devices, they have very well built apps for OC.

but somebody said it's not exactly high-capacity...they checked and it's actually almost the same caoacity as the original battery biggrin.gif
