Depends, sometimes the coat will change, sometimes it won't. Can never tell for sure until it actually happens (and even then it might go back again).

Doesn't mean they should be keeping the infant of a highly sociable animal that should be learning to play and interact with other living things in a glass box all day... no matter how reliable they are

Dear all,
I just join this forum today and i main purpose to join is to ask regarding a poodle. I found a poodle seller, its a blue color poodle. I had doing some online search regarding the seller, she is a breeder, a pup rescuer and she owns a pet shop as well... Because i only can go to view the puppy by next week, so i ask her to take some pic of the pup and email to me.... Can poodle sifus here please judge on this pup? Followings are her pic... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « The seller is a breeder and oso she owns a pet shop, however, this poodle pup was her former customer's pup, so cant view the pup parents. By the way the pups are kept inside the playpens. I not sure it is pure breed or not, from 2nd and 3rd pic, she seem like mixed with schnauzer or shih tzu......but she still looked cute though...can anyone please advise? |

QUOTE(aileyteo @ Dec 11 2010, 08:51 AM) LOL...i'm scary meh? i dunno if u got my last sentence in FB chatbox yday..i was saying i paid rm100 deposit for a grey poodle then when it was time to pick up the pup, it died!! It already had 2 vaccinations. Of coz i dont wish for the same thing to happen to urs.As for the puchong blue poodle, ive seen other blue ones before but this puchong one, the inner fur is a mixture of white, grey n black. I'm not sure if this is the true colour of a blue. The seller has no probs. She's a nice person. So it's up to u to judge the pup urself. Butttt i cant rber if she has more than 1 blue or not coz the one i saw is not like the 3rd n 4th pics. Maybe the hair grew longer n straighter...i'm not sure |

Or is some kind of skin disease ? The pet shop who grooms his hair doesnt know. Thx Usually dark patches on the skin will shop up once a hot-spot/fungus/cut/other injury has healed up, black areas of the skin of a dog is kind of like a scar in a way. Perhaps a picture of the patches would be useful to see what they look like.In general if the skin is just a different color and the texture is the same (not flaky/hard/oily etc) it is probably nothing and could be related to age (although 5 years is quite young to start showing signs of old age). I wouldn't worry. If you see red patches on the skin or it seems irritated/itchy/spotty, you will probably need a couple of rounds of medicated washes, otherwise don't worry. If his skin does look abnormal (apart from the color), especially if it is itchy, it could be a form of mange mite or a fungal infection. The other alternative is that it is just a pigmentation change kick started by hormones as your dog ages. Again, this is nothing to worry about at all. With a picture i might be able to narrow down the options a bit |

Is it the skin that has the color or the coat? Hard to tell from the picture so thought i would double check.
Either way, it looks like just pigmentation change. Keep an eye on it just in case, if the skin starts to be abnormal in any other way than color or is itchy it would be worth getting a skin scraping done by a vet. They will be able to look under a microscope and check if there are an abnormal number or mites or any fungus lurking around. As long as your dog doesn't show any other strange changes physically or behaviorally don't worry and just keep an eye on it. |
