I also think 50% is on the owner responsibility on teaching
and 50% is on the dog on how quick they pick up

Teddy also learned very slow and he is very stubborn. When i teached him, he only want the reward and dont want to learn that. But the funny thing is Wawa, my another dog (just a normal dog, not poodle) hearing my command and want to rampas the reward i give.  biggrin.gif

At the end, I think Wawa become smarter while Teddy is still the stubborn him. Some time really very gek sim, but have to be patient with him lo.

No worries , just need to do 1 command at 1 time , practise that command until u sien
Then when he does it very quickly by 1 time command , that is when they 100% know and it is practised
Only then start with a new command and repeat again , when start with new command , remember to also practise the first command as well

Never give up , never give the food in ur hand to them if he doesnt follow the command , if he unsure how to do sometimes , then hint it to them by pushing his butt if it is ( SIT ) by example.

The keyword i learnt is never give up , start with new command only when u have time , dont start and then give up after a couple of minutes lo.

Whether fast or slow learner , they need practise.
It is just about getting the command faster or slower , but still need practise lo.

And make sure they are calm when you are teaching
If they aren't calm and got over excited , i dont think it is a time to teach cos they want to play for that moment.

That is how i teach Cookie and she just learnt a new trick yesterday i taught her how to play dead Bang , super funny the way she does it , especially when i Bang and she is dead , then she try to get up back to take food from me , i Bang another time while she is getting up lolx , then she is dead again lolx. Successfully kao tim play dead trick yesterday

Added on September 7, 2010, 10:51 amI learnt from watching Cesar Millan that a dog needs to be calm and in a pack , who is the follower and who is the leader.
Generally listening to you meaning you are the leader
While taking a stroll with you , you walk the dog , not the dog walks you so the dog has to be in line with you and not infront walking you.

Thats one of the basic from Cesar Millan

Cookie so clever. How to teach the bang anyway? I mean how u show him how to pretend die?  laugh.gif
I have no idea how to teach this, but this is really cute...

Cookie is a girl lolx

Anyway very easy lolx
in the position of whole dog down position , lure her with 1 kibble on ur hand , DONT GIVE just let her smell , then err how to say go 1 round with it , when she is in the 1 sided sleeping position , that is when u give her the food.
Repeatedly doing it dont stop once u have started , first few times she is guessing not sure , but trying to attempt the move , then help her by showing her again , dont push her head down , cos that might scare her of wad u trying to do to her lolx

A video of how to teach
(aku learn from utube lolx)
