Depends on individual ... Maybe Limeuu didn't like his/her experience overseas.
But I totally love mine. I would trade mine anytime given the chance.

I suppose education and migration somehow comes hand in hand for most Malaysians especially the non malays. I for one did with such objectives in mind. Education became a springboard to migration as such. I read somewhere in other blogs that many Malaysian parents (non malays usually) often tell their children to 'get a job after studies and not come back as far as possible'. That's where the catch is with many countries imposing strict visa requirements. All the best for those having similar thoughts!

Yes. I do have a list of universities that I would like to apply to. Can you please elaborate more on 'their advices'? You meant whether I am qualified for their entry requirement? How many seats left for that particular course?

Thanks for your reply.  smile.gif

They would be able to tell you if you can still apply for the course, and whether there are still any places left etc etc. Normally they are quite helpful so you might be able to get more information about the application process =)

Got it. Thanks. One more question, do I need to translate all my required cert and documentations to English? As most of my cert is in Bahasa Malaysia, and if I need to certify those cert, I need to find an English certifying stamp as well? (Normally the cert certifying stamp is in Bahasa Malaysia in my school.)

Some universities need me to prepare a CV. Do you guys mind telling me how to prepare a CV? What are the important criteria and aspects I should include in my CV?

Thanks. biggrin.gif

I'm sorry but can you please elaborate more on how to translate those required documents? I need to find someone professional to do the jobs for me? Or can I just approach to the agency and kindly ask them to do it for me?

Thanks.

isn't that a bit stupid?..........for translation purposes?......

unless, of course, the stamp is meant for certifying true copy......in which case, if you do english translation, you will not need that stamp.........

Anyone in University of Dundee? How is it over there?...I might be applying for my masters there cause i heard that the living cost over there is lower compared to England. Is that true?
*
Dundee is cheaper indeed, but there are loads of places in England at the same cost (Manchester being the most notable example).

If I'm honest, the difference in costs over the length of your Masters will not be significant enough to affect your choice of universities. Just go for the university that suits you best professionally/academically rather than caring too much about the cost.

Of course, London is another matter.

A friend of mine when to Dundee. She enjoyed her time there. I suppose it is a reasonable uni to pursue an MBA, but look elsewhere as well before deciding. Times 2011 ranking places it at a respectable 44. Here is the link:

The student ranking is not bad too:

I think it pretty much depends on the airport you arrive at.... I arrived at london heathrow and basically you have the usual green and red lanes... Went through the green lane and it was totally unobstructed, meaning no custom officers or check counters... only a couple of large xray machines to scan all the passengers. I brought a whole box containing maggi seasoning, instant noodles and even some liquid sauces... No issues whatsoever...
As for compact disc, i have many frens who brought over loads of pirated dvds and none have been caught so far, so its totally up to you... But i brought only genuine disc over, just to be safe.... Again, its alrite as long they dont check your luggage...
Lastly, they dont check your pc so no worries as its some kind of breach of privacy(i think) unless they suspect something....

ps. you can probably get the chili sauce here anyway.... will be surprised at the number of asian products.... thumbup.gif

just asking, just how reputable is University of Glasgow for their engineering degree?

Admission into good universities such as Cambridge/Oxford are not guaranteed, Imperial College is too expensive, and I don't really like Burmingham/Manchester/Southampton for some reasons. That only leaves University of Sheffield. Or anyone can recommend me good universities that's reputable in engineering in UK?

Might I suggest Bristol University (the fame Brunel hails from here) or Cardiff University. Also these cities are much nicer as well. Glasgow can be gloomy and the city is not particularly pretty. Just my 2 cents. Cheers.

To current and future students in UK, the UK government is finally wielding the axe on immigration.

Notice how immigration went out of control in the past decade or so:

Also, a two-part speech on immigration by David Cameron:

Guys, I need some help in choosing the universities. I am planning to study pharmacy in uk and I have the list of universities right now. The only thing is I do not know how to choose university based on ranking. Normally which university ranking in the media is the most accurate and follow by the people?

I found lots of ranking guide on internet like THES, QS, guardin etc. And I can't understand why some university rankings are so inconsistent in different source except Oxbridge of course. And yes I am aware that there are rankings in subjects and overall but the university ranking are still so fickle sad.gif

Can someone please enlighten me? smile.gif

Its not a bad thing what the current government is trying to do. During the last government (Labour), border checks were lax, resulting in mass immigration of peoples of the sub-continent into the UK. This is done via 'backdoor' thru bogus marriage scams and private colleges. These colleges purportedly teach 'english'. They pay about £500 - £1000 to get a letter from the college to be used to obtain a student visa from the home office. They can simply renew their visas several times. I know of many indian co-workers here in UK using this route. Whilst some are genuine students, most just get a visa just to work. Duirng the boom times this was ok as jobs were plentiful. But nowadays joblessness is on the rise and the locals are up in arms and its become a national scandal. As a result the crackdown now affects the larger international student population.

However, I don't see how this affects Malaysian who are high quality, university students. For a bonafide student, the visa process is straight forward and painless, except the cost of applying for a visa has risen greatly. I paid nothing when I first came to UK. In fact, I did not even have to apply for a visa. You show your unconditional letter from your uni and some information regarding your finances, and get a stamp on arrival at Heathrow. I got three years straight away. If you are planning to come to UK and stay on AFTER your studies, i.e. get a job and hopefully gain PR, the rules have now been tighten. Again 'high quality' students are not directly affected, for eg. doctors and scientists which are sought after. Good luck to those planning to further their studies here. Any questions you can pm me.

I wish that were true but there have been cases such as these:

http://www.varsity.co.uk/news/2498

and frankly, no postdoc on their first posting is going to come anywhere close to the 25k pound limit they set.
