that korean tablet is cdma if i'm not mistaken. i remember i played with that unit bout 2 months ago. still proto and many of the stuff isnt working as it was still freshly on eclair. touch sensitivity was great on that.
what i have currently is the gsm 3g version. and i'll post my review in the other forum after merdeka has ended. |

Heard from my source yesterday it will be retail at 2699 and also Maxis will bring it here......stupid rumor also it doesn't support Bluetooth headset...hopefully it is not true....maybe if it is good then...time for me to change from iPad to tab....:-)

No need simcard, A-gps does not mean it is inferior to GPS alone.
The assisted is for cellular triangulation to speed up location lock. It is actually the apps that require the data transfer, cause google maps don't store the maps in ur phone. But if you have brut mod or some other map apps with the maps stored in the phone, you don't even need any sim/data. Please understand what A-GPS means before thinking 'aiya'. lol |

Yes, A-GPS means assisted GPS, it should come with a fully functional GPS chip.
The assisted is for either wifi IP location or cell triangulation to speed up location determination. It's like a value added feature I suppose. Disabling wireless location will stop the A-gps function and only use the GPS to determine location. Papago can be installed to use the maps/navigation in 'offline' mode. |

You can choose to switch it on or off.
If you switch wireless networks off, cellular triangulation will not be active and location will be determined solely via GPS signal. The cellular triangulation and/or wifi IP location determination is only active if you select wireless network location determination. It is an option to speed up location determination, not a requirement. |

This is a tablet with phone/3G capabilities.
Call using a bluetooth headset or wired headset. Carry around using a folder type case would be ideal. Samsung reportedly selling a leather case that is for the galaxy tab. With the TFT LCD instead of AMOLED or S-AMOLED, we can look towards a competitive pricing. The only thing that would really make it expensive would have been the screen.
Hopefully we can get it around the SGS price. Then I would snap it up. And yes it does look very very snappy, and this is good news as it means they can optimise 2.2 on the SGS as well. Honestly Samsung might have done a big mistake with the screen size. Maybe the CPU was not powerful enough to drive the device smooth if the screen size was increase. However, looking at Tegra2 based Folio, I really think the point of having a tablet is to improve readability and reduce the need to pinch and zoom like we did on Android phone.

i think the size is depends on what you want.
If you want it to be portable, 7 inch and super light weight really boost it. 10" will good for more task oriented and also long hours of reading -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Another features of Tab, printing straight from it to printer Seriously i think functionality POV, Tab beats iPad badly. For me, I think A8 is too slow for tablet.. besides knowing Gingerbread is coming, I would bet on something better. However, not much is known about Gingerbread nor Honeycomb. I would bet on Tegra 2 offering much better performance on Flash 10. |

the price should be cheaper than iPad eventhough it has more features. simply because every products that are launched by Apple are eventually turn to be products to beat. just look like iPhone, iPod, Macbook Pro (this one not really neway) and also this iPad.
but even Galaxy S is priced not less than iPhone 4 at overseas. Guess Samsung is really confident with their products. |

Putting a sticker at the back doesn't really mean anything.
The final product has a white plastic back, not the silver one. I'm not defending anyone, but to make a slim tablet, I don't really see many ways besides it being rectangle and have a bezel. The various buttons, capacitive or hardware and it does sport a PDMI which looks similar to apple's proprietary interface, but then again PDMI is supposed to be the next 'standard' for portable media devices. You can switch to another window but lose last window. I replace it with Atomic Browser and Life browser : cost me another US$3 Videos : Apple approved formats only , ie H.264 and MPEG-4 video in mp4, m4v and mov. In its approve formats, video is great. Others you need to convert using , say Handbrake or Air Video ( both free software ) or use third part free and paid ( I bought YX Player ) plays other non-Apple approved format but generally quality playback is poor. Is still a better option to convert. Some 3rd party video player works only on Jailbreak ipads File Transfers to iPad : Easiest email yourself to retrieve file but not workable for big files, say above 10 MB - email over and download slow. You can use iTunes to transfer but this only for apps that are approved by Apple to read the files. You can set up cloud services accounts eg GoAruna or Dropbox and upload files to them and access download files from ipad. Only on Jailbreak iPad, you can use Wireless transfer using WinSCP ( Windows) or Cyberduck ( MAC). By default you cannot access the ipad files EBooks : iPad reads only ePub format and PDF. If you have a collection of pdb, prc formats you have to use Calibre to convert it to epub format Saving files from email : Attachments on email cannot be saved to the ipad for , say future reference. Only way you save the email or use 3rd party apps eg ReaddleDocs ( US$4.99) , open and save thro Goodreader ( US$0.99 ) or upload these to your Dropbox account iPad does not support Multitasking. You close an app, you lose it. You need to Jailbreak and install Backgrounder ( free app ) to have multitasking. Disadvantage it takes up memory and I often have to close down apps manually else ipad will freeze with too many apps open |

If the price for the Galaxy tab is true....USD 900++, might better consider Notion Ink's Adam tablet . 10 inch and awesome features incl P.Qi..which is said to retail around USD 380-390+ for standard screen without P.Qi...or with P.Qi that comes to around 480-490+ ( which is much cheaper ).
If Galaxy Tab for Msian market can come down to level of 300-500...I think it's worth to look at.. For close to 1000 bucks....I doubt i will be interested to shell out so much.. Rather wait for Asus's Tablet early next year or Google's own tablet at the end of the year.. LG is coming out with their own tablet within this year...so, we shall see which one is more competitve.. |

Maybe they're refering to allshare, which then streaming videos to and fro may be a possibility.
Or sharing pictures via the 2. it'll be great if they can both combine and offer the following: Preview + magnified view some way of websites/documents. That would be great. On the SGS i get the whole page preview with a small box that shows the magnified view, which is then translated to the tab. |

Whether that's the real price of speculated price, we have to wait till the unit released locally before determining.
Indonesia has it's own capacitive 7" and 10" 2.1 tablets. Maybe you can explore that. |

confirmation on price - samsung galaxy updated new unit with new VR chip RRP is RM 2699.
most of the specs stays the same cept for a newer VR chip and 1GHz processor as opposed to 1.2 GHz processor. just received another unit today evening. now i have 3 units with me and all not worth the price. |

SGS's RRP is 2599.
media pricing is RM2k. i bought bout 8 units for my friends @ RM2k each. yea finally received the retail unit for the 7" galaxy. i wouldnt call it a tablet considering it can make calls. its juz a big @ss phone. @applewindows, considering the power, performance and price, i'd rather buy a full fledge notebook which can do more. 2699 is alot of money which can get u a nice c2d processor and an embedded 400m graphics chip with 2gb ram and 15" tft with a touchpad and keyboard and easily a 320gb drive. |

it's the same price with my Acer 4745G with 5470 ATI Mobility switchable which supported Dx11 plus 4GB RAM and 500GB HDD.. Damn pricey r SGT.. Plan to build my own gaming PC then if the price is such this expensive.. Can get Rampage III motherboard and i7 930 processor plus GTX460 Nvidia GC.. If Samsung believe they can compete other tablet with this price then, I hope they think twice before launch it here..  Anyway, do you guys heard about Archos' tablet? Come with Android!!

ipad wifi with 3G is also around that price.
And i guess 2.6k is Malaysia price, so most likely singapore or Hong Kong will have cheaper price, as in AP set. |

any c2d processor is faster than a 1GHz hummingbird. any chapmuck 400m graphics chip is faster than whatever VR chip. the tab has a small amount of space while the notebook or netbook u choose starts at a minimum of 10" and above. battery life will be better on a netbook or a notebook. lightweight is the only thing the netbook or notebook or laptop will lose out to the tab. for a pathetic 7" i'd rather look at my 14" notebook which only cost me 2399. and i can play warcraft 3 on it. though i only have an integrated x4100 chip for graphics its still good enough for me. why buy a tab when you can own a super powerful notebook ? if its weight concerned, buy a netbook with no rom in it ler. i bet you can do more in the netbook than on that tab. |

But then again, there's some stuff u get when u use a tablet compared to a notebook:any c2d processor is faster than a 1GHz hummingbird. any chapmuck 400m graphics chip is faster than whatever VR chip. the tab has a small amount of space while the notebook or netbook u choose starts at a minimum of 10" and above. battery life will be better on a netbook or a notebook. lightweight is the only thing the netbook or notebook or laptop will lose out to the tab. for a pathetic 7" i'd rather look at my 14" notebook which only cost me 2399. and i can play warcraft 3 on it. though i only have an integrated x4100 chip for graphics its still good enough for me. why buy a tab when you can own a super powerful notebook ? if its weight concerned, buy a netbook with no rom in it ler. i bet you can do more in the netbook than on that tab. - Touchscreen - Fun factor - Augmented reality - 3G / Wifi / Phone - Compact & Lightweight - Bragging rights? Ah......ya, the trend is towards tablet ma. Notebook is old technology. People want a phone, web surfing, games, portability, gps, emails, sms, mms, facebook, etc on the go. Now people are all very busy lah making money and the tablet will serve their needs on the go. I got an ipad but I find it cumbersome carrying it around. Personally I prefer a 5" tablet where I can put my boss in my pocket (he always disturb me with his phone call)

Easy to say, they are just like an add-on to any users that have extra funds and really want to be in style playing with the tablet while sitting in KTM, LRT or waiting for bus, library, park, etc.. Don't blame the manufacturers for creating them and the price is not affordable for average person.. They try to fulfilled filthy rich people needs and show that they really will to be in the market.. Samsung, Dell, Apple, Archos are trying so hard now.. I would prefer the archos screen to be slightly broader though. It looks to me that it will be more suitable for landscape mode and not so much portrait.

no, do you know what is wireless tethering? Means, Use your phone become a wifi modem. The phone change the edge/2G/3G to become wireless.
Then you use the Galaxy Tab to use that wifi(mifi since is mobile) |

Attended Singtel Accelerate Conference in Singapore. Samsung showcased Galaxy Tab, and i handed on the device.
Samsung representative given the following uncertain answers during Q&A session: 1.to be release to Market before mid-November 2.Pricing is around SGD1000, in talks with 3 major telcos in SG to bring down the price with contract. 3.Remain uncertain if it can be upgraded to Gingerbread. He claimed Galaxy Tab meets the Gingerbread requirement, but whether it can be upgraded is up to Google to decide he also mentioned Chrome OS....Sound like future tablet from galaxy family might be running Chrome OS?? 4.It's not the only Tab from Galaxy series. |

i rather wait for HTC Android 3.0 tablet which will hit the market in Q1 next year since the 2.2 can't really support high resolutions application. The price will be around $790 = RM2457..more value for money cause it's powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset, 2GB of RAM and with the screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

Those features are mere speculation. The company hasn't even confirmed it man. Anything can change at the very last minute like how the amoled screen of tablet being replaced by Super TFT.

Bought the Tab on impulse last weekend....no regrets so far...
Admittedly some things arent as smooth as the iPad but even Google has come out saying that its true because Froyo wasnt designed for tablets... I think they have confirmed that Gingerbread will be available as a free update for the Tab and fix a lotta things |

I think they have confirmed that Gingerbread will be available as a free update for the Tab and fix a lotta things What I heard is the 720p videos are a bit sluggish when you run the movie or movie trailers. Flash shud be ok, as far as i know. For games...shud be quite acceptable. Well, if Gingerbread comes in early next year, I am sure 3.0 will iron out all the sluggishness issues. Hey guys,
Am still considering in purchasing the Tab. In fact I went to Maxis TTDI to check it out. Am actually a Windows Mobile PDA user and all of my contacts data (about 1000 contacts) are on Microsoft Outlook! Yes! I intend to use the Tab as a PDA too... Was wondering is it possible for my laptop to sync with the Samsung GT so all my contacts and calendar (appointments) will be transfered too... Imagine typing each contact into the SGT, that is a lot of work knowing that I have close to 1000 of contacts to key in. I understand Microsoft Outlook and Android are two different OS platform but is it possible? The Samsung Galaxy Tab promoter at Maxis if of no help so anybody here have a solution to my dilema? Export your contacts as csv file. From googlemail, import it. Sync tab with your google account. You might wish to delete off some of the extra fields in the csv before you import in from google. The csv is basically a excel file
Similarly use google calendar to import your outlook. There are various solutions, just type your question in google search and you can see the various options |

Added on November 12, 2010, 5:13 pmanyway to those users who have problem finding a decent pdf reader for SGT,don't worry....u don't need to download third party application.It already preinstalled with think office,which can also read pdf files...and it'll automatically bookmark the page you closed ..you can easily accessed the last page you read..it's kinda handy when u r reading a 300++page ebooks... Just curious, how much is the SGT selling now? When I asked in Sunway piramid, the quoted me RM2799. However, I think it's lower than that now though. Any idea?
