Meireles is a massive signing for us. Roy really caught me off guard with this one, all we've heard so far is the diarra links..

i really like this guy for his passion, scores quite a bit too. i actually saw him as the gerrard of porto.

now we've got him on deck, and the signing of konchesky, we've got the fundamentals of the team set.

i actually think the lucas rumours are rubbish, plus i dont think there's enough time for him to leave and for us to find a replacement.

however, i think roy is still looking for 1 more striker, which would be the last of our transactions. but i dont think we've got that much money left..

sold mascherano for 16M up front (estimate), bought meireles for 10M and konchesky for 4M. that doesnt leave much money for a striker. dont know what the insua situation is, if he leaves thats at least 3M

Its been a long time since we signed a well known CM and im quite stoked with the signing with Meireles to be honest, decent signing indeed. Well done Roy though im still aghast with the arrival of Konchesky

i think Skrtel- Carra is our first choice defensive pair.
gerrard would play mor centrally behind cole ahead of meireles. i'm with you on the konchesky sigining. i think fulham got a way better player for 1.6M in carlor salcido (who was impressive for mexico in the WC IMO). but then again roy must like konchesky form working togehter before and must feel he justifies the price, so i'd rather trust the gaffer's judgement and welcome Paul wholeheartedly

Paul Konchesky had played in the EPL since 1997. I believe he has far more experience than any of our player in our current team. Except, carragher and gerrard He would be a good LB for us ..

Agger and Skrtel. Who is better to be the partner of carragher ?

Well, Konchesky did score that wonder goal against us in the 2006 FA finals and he's English so he qualifies as homegrown. So far, we have Glen Johnson, Paul Konchesky, Joe Cole, Jamie Carragher, Stevie G, Brad Jones and Jonjo Shelvey/Jay Spearing/Martin Kelly/Stephen Darby as homegrown players. 6 of them being regulars in the first team squad isn't too bad.

And also, the Meireles link was only reported on the Guardian, with no concrete or official proof. Chances are it's true but you know, Joe Cole was reported to have signed a contract with Arsenal too.

I believe the 2 youngster deal to Fulham will bite us on the arse again just like Warnock deal. Look how good he's become at Villa

I don't like Konchesky that much tbh. Salcido to Fulham, i think it would be better to get the latter one

yea, was at our main page and didnt c any offical news, so gonna take that news with a pinch of salt, though the addition of meireles is more than welcome. i am questioning roy's judgement in the inclusion of 2 youngsters plus 4 mil for konchesky ! i hope this aint true ! as 4 mil for me is more than enough !

Maybe got extra deal agreement ? Sending the 2 youngster to fulham to gain experience on the pitch
