QUOTE(samurai1337 @ Aug 27 2010, 04:19 AM) Hand itchy as I feel like trying those vanilla-based ROM like OpenDesire But I'm just wondering, the ROM is pretty much clean right? Can you guys survive without those fancy widgets from HTC? I don't know about you, but I can't survive without HTC's calendar, news and mail widgets. The default Android widgets aren't exactly eye-catching if you ask me Tried to find equivalent widgets in market but there isn't any (free ones at least). Any recommendation? AddOn: How's opendesire battery life btw? Hand itchy. Downloaded all the ROMs in XDA and gonna flash it all probably throughout the whole month to see which one works for me. Somehow, i do feel the prebaked R8 is a tad slow compared to NextSense. Now flashing OpenDesire and test it out, hopefully can stand it for the whole weekend. I cant live without widgets as well Edited : Apparently i really couldn't stand vanilla UI. Switch to NextSense7 after a few hours This post has been edited by akachester: Aug 27 2010, 09:13 AM

Well, apparently OD comes with default APN for my DiGi Internet and MMS. Any idea whether we could set that automatically on NextSense? Cause i still cant receive MMS on that.

I got ur feeling there samurai.i flashed 2 OD twice yesterday. When im on OD, i felt as if somethg is missing. I dont have all those widgets anymore which i depend so much but when i flash back 2 nextsense 7, i felt wanting 2go back to OD. it just gave me a different feel to android, and in a way, makes it felt more interesting. Lol.mayb i will flash again when sense got boring.

QUOTE(samurai1337 @ Aug 28 2010, 02:50 PM) No lagging with my setcpu settings I'm using Interactive Governer (only in certain ROMs) though.. whenever my battery falls below 70% it will automatically downclock to 806Mhz, which I don't feel any lag either (maybe by a really, really small margin) Added on August 28, 2010, 3:32 pmI suppose Sense-based ROM is more suited for every-day use. Vanilla based ROMs dev are more into performance tuning / overclocking and stuffs. I'll stick with sense-based ROMs for some time By spending some money on widgets, and flashing some theme-mods, I think OpenDesire can look nice too - but that's just too much efforts for now Well, it gives you the freedom to customize the display but i dont have the time and talent to do that Anyway, anyone here uses the default youtube application? By any chance you can pause the video halfway and then play again? Everytime i pause it and play it again, it started at the beginning again.

Wanted to give Vanilla UI another try.
Which one is really the best in terms of stability / battery life?
Cynogen, OD, WhiteXperience?

QUOTE(LuffyPSP @ Aug 29 2010, 07:06 AM) Yeah Neo is on NexTSense a lot. and CM6 out of RC and its the final release edy~~ i'm staying with Sense though. Btw i still found that Modaco R8 drains battery faster. Is there any way i can check my startup apps? cuz the idle time consumption is kinda much in the battery info. I missed NexTSense now~~ I hated the pre-baked R8 to be honest. The only one that came with App2SD+ have this annonying program called Wavesecure around that cannot be uninstalled. I just flashed back to OpenDesire 3.6.1 and giving it a try for a few days. Maybe Cyanogen mod a try as well, if there is alot of good comments from them.

Just flashed to Cyanogen 6 a while ago. First impression, looks much better than OD even on Vanilla UI. Everything is clean and good but apparently, they didn't come with a lot of those Google stuff by default like market. Had to install a seperate google package by them. Free space is lower than OD as well at 110MB compared to 150+ MB on OD with EXT partition on both. Gonna try it for a while before deciding which to use

QUOTE(LuffyPSP @ Aug 29 2010, 01:00 PM) I love Wavesecure, using it right now~~ though its kinda expensive, so am on trial only..lolz~~ it cannot be uninstalled cuz once you choose to bake it, it is installed in the system partition edy... CM6 doesnt support A2SD+ yet as OD so thats why lower space. i heard CM 6.1 will... Tats the problem if u dont have d online kitchen for R8. If you wanted the app2sd+, it will have d wavesecure which is very troublesome. I think it support app2sd+ coz when i partition, i hav more space. Weird... Btw,any idea whether v get similar widget like d people widget for sense?

QUOTE(bryan_823 @ Aug 29 2010, 06:55 PM) People, message, Bookmarks and Calendar widgets only available in Plus Version which you need to buy, else download Launcher Pro from Market which does not have the 4 widgets. Well, not gonna buy them. Anyway, cm6 aint exactly bugless although its indeed very beautiful for a vanilla ui. Hopefully it will b fix soon. Only by using vanilla ui, u wil realise how good htc had done on gettin a very user friendly sense ui.

QUOTE(LuffyPSP @ Aug 29 2010, 08:02 PM) I baked my R8~~ and i choose A2SD+ alongside Wavesecure, and i think it can be unticked when you bake. I didn't bake mine cause i didn't pay. I only get the pre-baked R8 which is free by Modaco And the version with APP2SD+ comes with Wavesecure.

Anyone here using Cyanogen Mod 6? I am getting extremely low battery life on this. Full charge at about 5pm yesterday and this morning, its at about 35% left. Thats with me turning off the auto sync + 3G as well during the night. Weird.
Probably gonna flash to either 7.1 or OD4 later.

QUOTE(Cynox @ Aug 30 2010, 09:38 AM) I thought wi-fi N supposed to be the main features of Official Froyo just like 720p recording? But maybe some ROM developer put it as optional to save battery life. Some peopple claimed WiFi N is eating up battery source but there are people who come out with findings that WiFi N is actually the same as WiFi B/G in terms of battery usage. So far, not many people actually commented much on it except i saw a few complaints about WiFi N aint exactly bug-free.

QUOTE(bryan_823 @ Aug 30 2010, 11:48 AM) Boot from Recovery then? My SD card is now emptied. Put in a ROM zip into the SD card, boot into recovery and flash to that image. There are times when you flash your SD card and you will be caught in a boot loop.

QUOTE(bryan_823 @ Aug 30 2010, 12:11 PM) Im now in Recovery Mod and chose Install zip from sd card (My SD card is still empty), it says "can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0p1) Invalid argument E: cant mount /sdcard Is this something wrong or anything i can do to fix this? I just wan to make sure there is nothing else I have wrongly done before I copy a ROM file into the SD card. Probably your SD card is corrupted. Take out the SD, format it using your PC and put in the Zip file.

QUOTE(bryan_823 @ Aug 30 2010, 12:21 PM) Can you guide me how to do this on a pc (How to delete all partitions and format into 1 single partition)? Just wan to make sure I get things done right this time Just find a card reader, plug in your SD card. It will be detected in your computer. Right click, format as FAT32. After complete, put in the Zip file and put back to your phone.

Don't actually need to be that complicated Just go to My Computer, find the drive of your SD card, right click, format By doing that, it automatically removes everything as i always get back my 8GB after that This post has been edited by akachester: Aug 30 2010, 12:58 PM
