One update for you guys. I can safely assume that CyanogenMod6 are definitely very hungry. Finished charged at about 11am just now, unpluged and left it for standby. At about 1.30pm, it dropped about 10%. No 3G, no wifi, no autosync, no gps. Now, its about 85%, even without any use.
Flashing to OD4 in a while to see whether it faces that problem or not |

Arh. The only reason why i really love those Vanilla UI build is because of the Auto APN setting. Still, i don't get to use MMS even with that. I can do that previously on Eclair. And i wonder would the OTA FroYo able to do that or not.

Well, apparently there is already a rooted OTA FroYo SEA version in XDA. Not sure whether its working or not. For those that wanted OTA FroYo SEA, without loosing root, might wanna wait for it

How do you update the radio on a non-rooted phone?

I tried formatting my SD again yesterday which has an EXT partition. Apparently, i made a mistake last time saying you can just format like that
Tried to follow the way recommended before but apparently, it won't work. You cant just go into Disk Management and remove volume, as there is only 1 volume (If you plug in directly via USB cable). You need to remove your memory card, plug in via card reader, and only then the EXT3 partition will be visible as Unallocated Partition. However, for some reason i could not remove that volume. All i did was to connect it into a Linux machine, and format it. It is still showing 6.9GB after that (from a 8gb card), and only when i plug back into my phone and format the SD from the phone, it shows back 7.5GB with no EXT partition. Anyone have any easier way to do that? |

QUOTE(Cynox @ Sep 1 2010, 10:08 AM) Use the Amon_RA recovery menu to partition it. I find it will be the easiest way if you do not have a linux computer. I was trying to do that via an unrooted way The Disk Management method I posted is for Bryan only as he partition the sd card with the Setting>>SD & phone storage (not in recovery mode) which I believe will only make FAT32 partitiona, not linux ext2/3/4 partitions. So putting it inside a card reader plug into a windows computer will see the FAT32 partition for sure. QUOTE(maliqu3 @ Sep 1 2010, 10:08 AM) Try SlideIT Keyboard instead of Swype. it doesnt take a lot of internal space like swype after u install it. so SlideIT is better than Swype. It wouldn't delete the EXT partition. I have an 8GB SD card, with 512MB EXT partition and its only visible as 6.9GB when i formatted it via the phone. If you remove the EXT partition, it should have about 7.5GB. You need to delete the EXT partition manually.Only rooted phone can update the radio. Just format from your phone, after format it try to mount back. if it hangs(wont mount), restart ur phone and then format again then mount back. still cant? redo all the steps again. it works for me. QUOTE(bryan_823 @ Sep 1 2010, 10:11 AM) Yea, I had the same problem with you when trying to format my 16GB SD card (Had ext3 partition on it). The ext3 partition only visible via a card reader, but fortunately I managed to delete partition from Disk Management and then formatted it.. After fully formatted, I have 14.9GB out of 16GB, not sure if I have fully cleaned all the partition though as I dont remember what is the space available when I 1st bot the SD card The problem with mine, when i plug in using Memory Card Reader, i could delete the partition via Disk Management. It is showing "Unallocated Space" for that 512MB and you don't have any option to remove it. I cant even remove the 6.9GB partition because thats the only partition at that point. I had to go to Linux, flash the whole drive to FAT and then return to Windows. When in windows, its still showing 6.9GB FAT, 512MB unallocated space. However, if you plug it into your phone, and format it via the phone, you will get back 7.4GB. Just thinking is there any easier way to do that Any other way to make sure there is no partition on an SD card beside from the Disk Management in a PC? |

QUOTE(Cynox @ Sep 1 2010, 10:30 AM) then how did you create the ext3 at the first place? With a linux computer? No. It was pulled from a Desire that is rooted previously and put into an unrooted Desire. As the unrooted Desire can't utilize the EXT partition, i wanted to remove that partition QUOTE(maliqu3 @ Sep 1 2010, 10:32 AM) weird, it always works for me on my Sandisk 4GB Class 6. This is what i exactly do: unmount, format 2-3 times, mount back (if cant, normally cant), i restart my phone and then format again 1-2 times from home screen (coz it will show up on notification bar after reboot) then mount back. Voila, it really works for me. For some reason it didn't work for me though. I formatted multiple times and it is still showing 6.9GB instead of the 7.5GB. Added on September 1, 2010, 10:40 am the advantage on slideIT is u can always change from slide-type function to normal-type without changing the keyboard and used less internal memory. i dont remember if swype can do it too. |

QUOTE(bryan_823 @ Sep 1 2010, 01:54 PM) Hi guys, is there any problem in Rooting and Flashing our Desire, using a Windows7 64 bit? It did it on my Windows7 before but its ok. I am on 32bit though I heard someone here was having some issues when rooting and flashing using Win7 64. Thinking to upgrade my laptop to Win7 64 bit. |

Well, apparently there is a thread in XDA that specifically states downgrading the official FroYo HBOOT to a rootable HBOOT. Anyone have any idea whether it works?

QUOTE(Pennywise @ Sep 6 2010, 09:19 AM) Senasib with me. As far as i can see, most of the release are basically some minor bug fixes reported by certain people. Thus, if you do not face any problem on 7.4, i suggest stick with it. Unless those fixes are major ones No, I meant the release is too fast already. Yesterday flash 7.4. Today release 7.5.2. Sorry for the confusion. |

QUOTE(ibu1980 @ Sep 6 2010, 04:09 PM) Well it's a UK set, purchased 6 units. 3 doing fine..3 not good. rebooting. one unit starts to reboot when wifi is turned one..one unit started having problem after installing an update.. my friend did lot of stuff to fix..but it doesnt work..flashed original roms. custom roms.. Well, mine was pretty hot when running with WiFi, GPS etc but not to an extent where it is overheating. And i do have a CaseMate cover right at the back which makes it even hotter than normal. I would guess its a bad batch of Desires.my assumption with overheating as a conclusion is because my friend kept the phone in our office server room, it didnt reboot. took it from server room..started playing with apps..and there it goes...so i assume something to do with hardware..overheating perhaps.. i googled around..and found many desire units facing this kinda problem.. |
