outer looks seems to be okay. engine bay showing minimal modification. still using drop-in filter. was it an original color or repaint by the owner? what is the exact mileage? |

wd40 might loosened the thing..jk
last time a friend's car having the same problem, i help her to jack up the affected front area, find a compatible spanner/s and tightened the big bolt nut in the middle, followed by the other 3 and the sound gone. btw, if you tightened the bolt nut while the car is not jack up , it won'y work. this is due to the weight it has to support. |

you need to open up the rubber cover for the big bolt nut.
lolz...too much of laverage or drill will only kill / loosened the top part of the absorber screw. it's the correct technique that matter. am using standard size spanner. will foldable( to L shape) one end. bought from ace hardware at 9.90 bucks . one hand pressing the top part that hooked up to the bolt nut and another hand tightening. a slight thick! or thud! sound that's all. once you jack up the car, it will be different feel. not as hard btw, am into fitness as well, so, this is just part of arm workout |

QUOTE(reef_d @ Oct 14 2010, 06:13 PM) this apm performax pair with stock oem spring ok or not? still comfortable? better pair it with the apm performax spring. pairing it with the stock spring which has a softer retention rate will give a jumping' sensation when going over speed bump. especially those paved road in front of construction site.cos i saw someone selling the apm performax with apm sport spring, he stated reason for selling is because its too sporty and not suitable for family car.. btw, apm performax is created more for handling. it was learning more towards adjustable in term of feel and performance. stiffer ride. if you prefer comforts, sachs is okay. choosing absorber will be very much depend on your preference and driving style. apm performax absorber + spring + original absorber rubber protector should cost around 730 bucks. another 100 bucks for labour. easily one of the most reliable absorber i'd ever use. |

inspira isn't a 100% finished product... yet, proton already start taking order.
remember the soft launch with the inspira's rear end covered? instead of n shape menacing front grill, proton re-copy it the other way round in more feminine u shape |

QUOTE(mao2 @ Oct 16 2010, 08:21 PM) i have sumthing new to ask.. hehehe.. mayb yngwie can provide me answers.. after discussing with my brother.. then come along 4g93 n/a.. its a 1.8 sohc rite? and how does it perform? like FC? any better than our 4g18 interm of reliability? (other than capacity of 1.6 & 1.8).. parts? there are few type of 4g93 / gsr. mine was of gsrt ck or dohc 4g93t with mivec head and custom made parts to accommodate the aggressive head.spare parts was plenty. dyno result shows a lousy 270bhp on flywheel to protect the almost stock tiptronic gearbox. i could say the reliability is about the same with 4g18p. a few friend had been using 4g93t on their waja for 5 years without any problem; provided that due care was practiced. normal driving style with 'kepishh!' overtaking sound perhaps, you could go for dohc 4g93t and just de-tuned it by removing the turbo and use proper piggyback management. QUOTE(Kelvin5717 @ Oct 17 2010, 12:10 AM) Hi guys, my Waja just broke down yesterday and today sent to repair, just wondering if I've been paying a fair price, my car automator or something with pronounce that way break off and cox my battery to stop recharging so i've to push my car aside until my uncle came with a new battery. A few gentleman assisted me in charging but the effort is in vain.. btw, you're paying an expensive price. but we don't blame you. a lot of mechanic out there always take advantage of the situation. even so for newbie car owner. The below are the cost My Waja 1. Driving Belt - RM95 (include the automator + aircond belt + another dunno what belt that is also nearby that area) he changed the timing belt and air-con belt together? fyi, timing belt easily cost around 135 bucks. air-con belt usually cost around 45 bucks and a few bucks more for proper oiling / seal on belt and alternator 2. Plug (4 units ) - RM48 (told me is time ups d) was this a standard spark plug or platinum spark plug? fyi, standard spark plug cost less than 30 bucks. platinum around 50 bucks 3. Tuning - RM15 (was not sure why but mechanic said already run) what tuning? since all he did was adjusting the engine timing somewhere near the throttle body, this should be free 4. Air Filter - RM19 (this is in bad condition as he show it to me so i said ok change lo) normal price 5. Coolent water - RM16 (i thought we just pour normal water but the mechanic said by time to time need to clean the rust but thhis) not sure which brand of coolant but without flushing, price is okay 6. Terminal 1 side - RM15(the one to hold the battery - Red side because the screw also lossing d) battery terminal was design to last the car's lifetime. how often we touch that area? 7.Windscreen washer fluid / break oil / power streering oil - RM8 (do we need shampoo for windscreen washer ?) windscreen washer fluid is useless. i doubt brake oil and power steering oil top up cost a mere 8 bucks 8. Charge battery - RM6 (because already kosong) standard price Total - RM222.00 And on the time when we do all this service a few error place was found but due to budget i told him that i will come next month so i need to know if the price i'm paying is fair or is this mechanic honest enough before i proceed the next repair which is in higher cost, the things that need to change is below; 1. Suspension back 2 units - RM270 + labour cost (cox got sound d) if he 'll using the stock apm absorber, it's a cut throat price. pts tire in setapak used to charge around less than 180 bucks including labour 2. Tire 2 side - RM180 x 2 = RM260 which brand and model? price seem to be fair but we deserved a good pair of tire at that price 3. Fan starter - RM70 (was told that the fan could not auto start if my aircond was not on so the temperature will get hot, unless aircond is open then is ok) you sure about this? the fan had a sensor that could detect the engine temperature. hence, it will only start once the air-con start or it detect an excessive heat on the engine. to confirm this, once you stop driving, turn off the air-con and the fan should stop spinning as well. but it will still spinning on and off depending on the engine heat 4. XXXX - RM 50 - 70 - 80 (i seriously dun get it and can't remember the name, but was told if need to change the fan starter have to change this thing as well, anyone got idea what is it ??) fan relay? Total = RM Did i pay a fair price ? cox i just owned this waja (2nd hand) and this is my 1st repair after 4month from day of purchase.. all sifu kindly advise me this new member of waja club it was an alternator. and from the list of changed parts. you alternator is fine but the belt maybe snapped. my advice, go for throttle body cleaning. ThunderGod_Cid could do it for you. where are you staying, maybe we could recommend a reliable workshop for you as well. and welcome to waja thread QUOTE(ThunderGod_Cid @ Oct 17 2010, 12:18 AM) i'd say that the price is fair. But for RM15-tuning, i doubt he did anything right, as in, he needs a PDT scanner to get the tuning right in order for your car to idle and run properly yet efficiently. all he did was prolly' adjust / re-calibrate the engine timing around the throttle body area. as what you usually did every time after throttle body service. His charge for the oil change is SUPER cheap, whereas workshops these days charge rm15-25.00. and shell hx-5 was a mineral oil. for kenari, at RM65.50 with oil filter, it should be free QUOTE(Kenneth728 @ Oct 17 2010, 11:11 AM) Hey Guys, my current waja enhance 1.6 auto 2005 has sound comes out from front left tyre side inttermittently. Usually it happends while the car was stationary! like i stop at traffic light, and i already put my hand break. After few second or maybe a minute, then this sound would comes out. were you using the same brake pad on both side? was you car stay in line or slight to the left during sudden braking in high speed? The sound like "Eekk!!", sometime very lough, sometime just soft only. I affraid wat is going wrong on my left side typpe or suspension. Anyone has idea for it? I sent to workshop and they also has not sure wat is that, they ask me to put car for days for inspection. But i cant due to i only has 1 transpot to work. try pressing the bonnet on the left side(on top of the absorber) and observe if the it bounced more than once for possible absorber problem. need the car around to do troubleshooting. QUOTE(ThunderGod_Cid @ Oct 17 2010, 05:08 PM) hmm... good question. but suitable mivec for waja only available in 1.6. no doubt it offer more fun due to the aggressive behaviour.but i decide to go ahead and experiment with 4g93t coupled to a mivec head. 1st step was swapping the td05 with s256. and a custom made 'top part' to feed the mivec head properly. with all the modification, car was good for 3xxbhp when running on twin plate ogura but was keep at 270bhp to protect the the tiptronic gearbox and to serve the purpose as a city car. i think its all down to individual taste and preference. |

QUOTE(ThunderGod_Cid @ Oct 17 2010, 07:54 PM) ive no idea how tiptronics have clutch in them as i never bothered to take a look at em, mind explaining? basically, it should. never open one. still using the torque converter thou. only good thing over the conventional auto tranny was it was being able to shift rapidly depending on the driving style. the tiptronic mode only allow for slight engine drag, after that, without downshifting or upshifting, gear still change by itself.Mivec on a 4g93t engine, mibec turbooooo huhu. 300plus is nice. since it was gsrt block and mivec head, can't really call it mivec turbo QUOTE(Kelvin5717 @ Oct 17 2010, 11:19 PM) throttle body was the part where the air mix in. you can check with elton @thundergod_cid, he do a throttle body cleaning as well. car usually feels' lighter after throttle body cleaning. QUOTE(ThunderGod_Cid @ Oct 18 2010, 12:52 PM) yeah. soundproofing on 4 doors using the rubber foam, cotton-waste like material and a thin layer of bitumen. diy on all 4 door took me almost 6 hours while waiting for the ca glue to dry up, i start working on another door. btw, sound proofing on the roof panel area is really paid off. esp. during heavy rain. |

QUOTE(jolipoli81 @ Oct 18 2010, 02:21 PM) may I know why do you choose the tiptronic over the manual? And is your 4g93t are those they call 'terbalik' ones? QUOTE(jolipoli81 @ Oct 18 2010, 03:56 PM) wait la DSG kaput then u tau DSG shiok i've had another manual tranny kept in friend's garage. currently using tiptronic due to ease of use in the city. after all, it was mean for city driving with someand yeah, I'm aware that waja/gen2's timing belt is different from wira/satria/putra and I'm also aware that the terbalik version does not have as much power as those normal gsrt, that's why I was wondering how he pump out 300bhp out of it power to tap in case it was required. the latter proton cars (waja onwards) uses different mounting to the older gsr/t in putra, gti and modded wira. modification may differ but more or less sharing the same part like the usage of walbro 255lph pump, hks blow off, evo injector , pnp, forged piston and so on with the newer gsrt being able to accept mivec head, provided that the aggressive head was feed properly, not to mentioned the usage of correct turbine unit / e-management to minimize the turbo lag and maximize gain. QUOTE(ThunderGod_Cid @ Oct 18 2010, 03:22 PM) monster mivec turbo lol. I sometimes drive a Mazda 6 BOT, with shiftronic. The way we take care of the gb : 300whp is a lot. we release the throttle in between gear changes and drive it like a manual so that you dont put too much torque/stress onto the clutch packs and brake bands. If we don't release the throttle, it slips. Engine is about 300whp and tranny was ordered from level10, US which costed close to 25grand As for the insulation, why you suggest cotton waste? 3M is supplying one of these cotton products which claims to give a real biggy difference. It's called Thinsulate =) btw, am with you on the gearbox protection. i usually gauge which rpm the gearshift happened and slightly release the throttle during gear change. that was the cheapest diy i could find. 6mm rubber foam, cotton waste and the thin bitumen layer really works wonder but the door become slightly heavier by a few hundred gram. thinsulate wasn't in the market when i decided to diy on soundproofing the doors and roof panel. QUOTE(mxsteven @ Oct 18 2010, 03:34 PM) Tiptronic is useless because it is the same like auto putting to L, 2, 3 and D.... i would love if it has a double clutch like DSG muahahahahaha minus the trouble in unlocking the gear lever (pressing the button) could do a step better by simply upshift / downshifting. in case we forgotten, the gearbox still change by itself upon reaching the higher rpm QUOTE(mxsteven @ Oct 18 2010, 04:11 PM) DSG gb should be not expensive if lotsa ppl play.... its like playing auto in the 90's.... someone must start the fire like the multi-speed city's cvt during it's initial introduction a few years back |

not sure if it's only me but last time swapping with friend's simota( works engineering???), my throtte body turn dirty in short time while using simota. no such problem with k&n. btw, k&n air drop-in air filter should be less than 280 bucks. |
