QUOTE(FenomX @ Oct 11 2010, 07:36 AM) My suggestion: Not my cup of tea mate, very unbalanced IMO. No protein, and u dont wanna train your body to be dependent on caffein to keep yourself focused. Dont really see how its gonna help u loose FAT other than the low carbo intaketake your breakfast at 6-7 a.m as that's the time when your digestion work the most, take some light foods with very low carbo, instead try to get some caffeine. The reason why is because we don't need carbo at the early morning since you don't really work hard during that time. You need to focus more instead so take some caffeine or a little bit of sugar will do. Suggestion for breakfast: 1. Salad, fruits or bread. (best to take with oat bread) 2. Coffee or Milo. now we move to lunch, during afternoon, that's the time when we need more energy as due to daily works. Working, walking etc etc. This is the time you need more carbo to support your body or to boost your energy yet the intake must be carefully done. This is also another well preparation for your workouts (gym, or sports activities) as carbo will only be digested and transformed to energy after 1 to 2 hours intake. Suggestion for lunch: 1. Small portion of rice (try not to eat noodle as they are oily) 2. Fiber foods.(so you will feel full) 3. Take juice without sugar instead of plan water. (especially orange or green apple, they are very good for digestion and nutritious as they consist of good acidic ingredients) dinner when it's night time and resting time. We don't eat that much during this time as we don't really move our body thus burning of the calories are lower unless opposite. Suggestion for dinner: 1. Fiber loads, fruits, vegetables. 2. plain water. Tips: be disciplined! and one more thing, do not think eating vegetarian foods are good and can diet. This is due to the foods other than the vegetables, all of them are fried and contains a lot of flour and of course, the rice too. lastly, hit the gym and do workout thus metabolism rate become higher means fats burning even faster. Good luck! |

Here's my suggestion, something that COULD be easily followed by most of us without drastically changing our eatin habits.
Breakfast Wholemeal bread(green packet gardenia, very easy to find) 2 half boiled eggs, very easy to prepare if u bother trying Canned tuna (I personally go for ayam brand, specifically the ones with high omega3 and spring water), and DONT buy the tuna mayo or chilli/curry ones LOW FAT/SUGAR peanut butter. If some of u cant live without jam, I suggest the Steffies brand or those NATURAL fruit spreads(look at the ingredients, make sure no artificial sugar or preservatives added) U can survive without butter or margerine, so AVOID IT!! Some fruits, preferabally an apple or a banana A glass of LOW FAT milk Coffee IF u MUST, reduce your sugar use and stop using evaporated/condensed milk Stuff that we usually take and SHOULD avoid for breakfast - kuih-kuih, rice/noodles, roti canai, fried hawker food, fried chicken/fish/egg, teh tarik even if its kurang manis Im updating this list while listening to lectures, sorry if I take a while |

Lunch
SMALL PORTIONS of rice or noodles. I personally prefer alternate sources for my carbo intake, such as chapatti, naan or kuey teow/bihun(which fyi has the LOWEST fat content and calorific value compared to other noodles) and I make sure mine is not fried. I go for fish bihun sometimes, the aunty that makes it for of doesnt use msg or a lot of salt and I usually ask for more green veggies. Steam/grilled/baked chicken or fish. I use olive oil instead of normal cooking oil, but I only use very very small amounts, just to make sure the meat doesnt quick to the pan/oven tray. Veggies cooked in the similar manner. A SMALL piece of dark chocolate(2 small squares) as a reward. Plain water/chinese tea. Some cashews or almonds, not sweetened or salted. A packet of papaya cut into tiny cubes Added on October 11, 2010, 10:22 amHaha, Max, another Mike Geary follower, high5 mate! Now for dinner.. Some very light carbo, your meat source for protein and veggies wont do u any harm, so take a little and stop being choosey Whatever I've suggested is for the normal joe trying to start eating healthy, and for people who cannot afford or dont hv the time to eat 5-6 small meals a day. I for one follow my strict 5 meals a day eating habit, and MAKE TIME for workouts without giving myself excuses. Also, I've recently started taking Nitrotech Hardcore ProSeries for the extra oomph and muscle recovery after workouts. In an environment where I need to do loads of studying for the coming month, it has been helping me so far. Oh, and make sure u get ENOUGH SLEEP every night, a thing that many people take very lightly. Some simple rules of thumb - If u dont need it, dont eat it. If u cant discipline yourself and constantly make excuses, you're only gonna disappoint yourself, and no one else. And drink loads of water people, whoever says drinking water is bad for u is talking pure BS, so its up to u to follow if u wanna.. Cheers mates, time for Principles of Flight lecture, need to focus!! This post has been edited by vinesh22: Oct 11 2010, 10:22 AM |

When I was starting off, I myself went like 3-4 times a week max. U see, the idea of eating 5 small meals is so that your body has enough time to digest the food and absorb the nutrients as the day goes by. Its not gonna help in any way if u hantam 5 normal portion meals a day..lol
What do u do at the gym when u go those 2-3 times? And which gym? |

Haha, all the best then mate. Just hope THEY keep their promises. 15kg in 3months is kinda hard if u take into account that you're lifting weights, but again, not impossible. Most importantly, do it all natural if u can, dont go for fat burners. A post workout protein shake should be more than sufficient. Trust me, once u start seeing the differences for all the effort you've put in, its gonna turn your whole perspective on what u can and cannot do! I used to be a very pessimistic person, but now, nothing is impossible to me if I work hard and set my sights on it!

QUOTE(ghoss @ Oct 12 2010, 09:54 PM) Guys , Hope I can get some advise and tips here. How long have u been working out mate? How come I can get smaller but my weight doesn't drop that much ?? I used to wear size 42 but now I'm wearing size 38 but my weight stayed almost the same which is around 95 to 100kg , my height is around 175-180. My work out plan is 15mins of Cross Trainer 30-45 mins of intense treadmill 30-45 mins of doing weights . My arms got toned abit but my tummy still round . Diet still undecided but I avoid sugar / carbs. Any tips to lose the round tummy ? First thing first, you're definitely loosing fat and the weight you're gaining back is muscle, so its balancing out. U see, when u do weight training, dont just go for biceps like what many wannabes in the gym do! Sure, u might get nice lean biceps, but the rest of your body is gonna be toufu. AVOIDING excessive carbs and sugar is a good start, but its definitely not gonna help u in the long run. Start reading back the previous posts, some suggestions on how to start eating healthy have been shared by the forummers here mate..cheers |

QUOTE(statikinetic @ Oct 13 2010, 06:14 PM) Weight train full body. Arms, chest, back, legs...the full circuit. Spot on. No use doing 50000000 sit ups in the gym if you're not gonna increase your metabolism in the long run. It'll bring you results faster. Don't focus on a single bodypart. Reminds me of the guy who comes into gym and does a thousand situps. It'll just give you sore abs. Do full circuits, and train your entire body instead of focusing on any single part. One good thing I realised about abdominal muscles is their ability to recover very fast, which means u can work on them everyday if you're not lazy. Also, its not just about lying flat and going up and down, remember, even sit ups have proper techniques, so I suggest doing some research on the web. Here's a good start, hope it helps some of u like it did for me.. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/bbinfo.php...WorkoutPrograms |

QUOTE(statikinetic @ Oct 14 2010, 09:55 AM) I think it was me who said ok to the previous poster, but that was on a one meal calorie intake. Ditto that mate, the bodybuilding thread is definitely something I'd recommend reading, lots and lots of useful info in it. Best part, its not ONLY for bodybuilders as the name suggests, so feel free to ask in there too. We're all learning new things all the time anyway..Don't base all your meals on that one answer. There is a goldmine of information in the bodybuilding section when it comes to dieting, you might want to comb through it first. The important thing is getting your metabolism up, start taking smaller meals on a higher frequency. I personally eat six times a day, two hours after a meal and I'm starving again. One step at a time. You'll be making a lot of discoveries on the road of getting fit, incorporate those you think will benefit you into your life routine. I think vinesh22 PMed you, so good luck. Congrats for taking the first step on improvement. |

QUOTE(orang90 @ Oct 14 2010, 11:25 AM) do i need any protin drink? my fren told me i don need.. and im think im gonna try lipo 6 fat burner.. As for protein shakes, yes, if u are working out hard, and u need that extra bit of protein for muscle recovery and solid mass building, by all means, go for it. If not, all you're gonna be doing is paying for expensive pee, because that is where the excessive unabsorbed protein will go.. |

QUOTE(blablablablabla @ Oct 14 2010, 05:42 PM) its a bit hard o get a pure soy protein to drink, trust me on this! Ok 2 things I gotta say,i been looking for organic purely protein back to ages ago hmm if u want a economic one, u can try the cosway protein powder costed ard 10rm. orelse u can go for milelea protein ard 15rm. but i feel the milelea got suger added tats y i quit it Firstly, soy protein is not that great, and was never that great to begin with. I'm not saying its not good, just that IMHO Whey Protein does so much more of a better job, much quicker. http://build-muscle-gain-weight.com/the-be...gg-or-whey.html http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/protein-ty...est-for-you.htm http://www.build-muscle-and-burn-fat.com/s...ey-protein.html http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/drobson71.htm From the last article, u can see that soy does have its benefits, but u can go around other health forums and 8/10 people would recommend whey protein as a better choice. Secondly, this is where some people don't get it. U see, many people think all protein powders are the same, and therefore fall for marketing gimmicks from smaller companies such as Cosway or Milelea(not that I have anything against them, its just my humble opinion). Let me ask u this, if there's someone selling something for RM100 and another guy selling a SIMILAR product for RM10 which one would u go for? Obviously the cheaper one sounds like a better deal right? But have u ever asked yourself why the guy who sells it for RM100 is not budging his prices eventhough his product sounds similar to the RM10 version? Well, its because the amount of research and study that has gone into making it is wayyyyy more than what the cheaper brands could afford to begin with. In other words, if u could buy a Perdana and a Vios, which would u go for if you're thinking about owning it for the long run? My point is, just because something is cheaper and promises results, it doesn't mean it will always work. Some of the guys who I know who are serious about the protein they drink go for only a handful of brands, Optimum Nutrition's 100% Whey Gold Standard, and Muscletech's Nitrotech Hardcore Pro-Series(my personal favourite). Most of the bigger brands are just separated by prices but the content are almost SIMILAR, its just that some have a litle bit more research and stuff so they're more famous. Hope that helps, I'm not trying to debunk anyone or step in any shoes, just sharing what I know. Would be cool if anyone would wanna correct me if anything I've shared here is wrong. I'm still learning new things all the time, and the knowledge I've gained SO FAR has already brought me a long way, so new input wouldn't do any harm Added on October 14, 2010, 9:30 pm QUOTE(Jean72 @ Oct 14 2010, 06:30 PM) Big waste of money yo!! Save a bit more money and add on to get better brands. QUOTE(statikinetic @ Oct 14 2010, 10:22 PM) Dropping 40% of your body weight is a little drastic isn't it? I would say set achievable goals first. Why not aim for 90kg as your target and go from there once you hit it? Yup, agreed, and if I may add a bit to the list, try changing your fruits once in a while. U can do without the asam boi with fruits such as papaya and apples which are naturally sweet. The canai could be replaced with chapatti, I know it tastes dull by itself, but try dip a LITTLE curry just for taste and you'll be fine. Go for some telur mata too, cheap and good if u don't fancy half boiled eggs. The obvious is your roti canai breakfast. That'll have to go. I suggest to change it to a healthier alternative. You can cut down the portions on your breakfast and lunch, then slot in something to eat in between breakfast and lunch. This will help stoke your metabolism and ensure you're not too hungry during lunch and munch excessive food. You now have a 5 meal a day plan, which is good. Get that metabolism going. The Tandoori chicken might be fine, but why not replace that iced milo with water? Simple change. 100 grams of milo is 400 calories, excluding any condense milk they put in. Not sure about the intensity of your workout but I think you got that covered. |

Go for Nitrotech or Optimum Nutirtion, once he tries it, you'll see what all the fuss statikinetic and I were talking about. Dude, u should never be scared to ask anything at the gym man, its a place to learn and AVOID mistakes. The only way u can make sure of this is by asking questions. I'm a 6'1 Indian, with a crewcut hairstyle, and I usually have to approach people because they think I'm scary and would chew their heads off. Once u get to know me, you'll see that I'm REALLY REALLY friendly..haha
Ask the trainers, dont be scared because u have NOTHING to loose. So what if he scolds u and disses u off in the begining? Its tough love buddy, some people have to keep the macho image, u cant blame them, lol. And go for those green tea u can buy in sachets, mix and drink yourself. Good amount of caffein and impressive detox properties too. |

Orang90, what the hell dude.
Every time u give yourself excuses like, "oh its my first time trying it" or "I've worked so hard, I think its alright to have a burger" etc etc , you're not cheating anyone else but YOURSELF No use coming here and telling us what u have done and HOPE for a response like, "oh, its alright, you've only done it once" because u definitely won't be getting it from statickinetic, sydg and me. We're here trying to help u out with what with know, the rest is up to u. If u think trying a burger that you've never tried before is gonna help u, then be my guest, just don't come complaining in the future k? Sorry for the tough love, but I myself am under a bit of stress lately, so no harm intended in my post. I just want u to think of what you're doing. Its ALL ABOUT DISCIPLINE! If u can't engrave this word in your brain, you're not gonna go anywhere dude. Added on October 17, 2010, 1:28 pmsyndicate, I really don't get your obsession with roti canai man.
