QUOTE(mrjaxx @ Sep 23 2010, 10:03 PM)
just want to ask..
since i tried before joging and cant stand the pain becuase i am too fatt(105kg),i amgiving a try to do some cycling

if lets say i do cycling exrecise for a period of one month, will the body still burn the fat even i am doing the same exercise?

lets say for an example

1st week loss 3kgs
2nd week loss 2kgs

will the body can know what kind of execise that we are doing and then the body will adapt to what exrcise i am doing(cycling) thus resulting in lower fat burned?
*
Just do the treadmill mate, I know how much it hurts, but its all in the mind!! Don't need to aim a 1km jog right away, start by doing slow walks and 100-200m sprints, then reduce speed. Each time u hit the gym or the jogging track, increase your distance. I myself could barely do 200m jog on the treadmill 9months ago when I was about your weight, kaki sakit, jantung sakit, and felt dizzy after trying. But after a few weeks, you'll get used to it, and your body WILL adapt. Don't just rely on cardio, instead, do some weights. Focus on your legs and thighs if they give out easily, so that u can run further and for a longer period. Do squats and if you're at the gym, ask around, there are an abundance of techniques u can try out.

U should not focus on "loosing weight" this early. Try get your metabolism up first, do some basic weight and resistance training as well as cardio. You'll be gaining weight for sure, but it will be muscle mass, and not fat. Cycling is good too, just not as effective as rowing or swimming and jogging IMHO.
And most importantly, the amount of weight u loose is not SOLELY based on how much exercise u do, but factors such as a healthy diet, and genetics as well as metabolic rates have to be taken into consideration.

cheers mate! icon_rolleyes.gif

I got the omron one for RM350.... my BMI and weight is fine... just the body fat % is a little on the high side.....
*
I bought the Fat Track Pro from a forummer a couple of months back for RM150 I think, or was it RM100, can't really recall. 2nd hand but practically brand new in condition. Definitely helps people who do weights coz trust me, BMI alone won't be accurate once your muscle mass starts increasing.

Hi there,

Start your cardio to lose all the fat first, like running on treatmill, join those cardio class such as body combat, Ritmo Zum, cycling before you move into weight training. 20kg in 2-3 month is bad for your health, 20kg in 2 or 3 year will do you good. If you lose weight in such a short time it will bounce back even worst...And also you have to control your food intake. Healthy breakfirst, light lunch and no dinner (if you can)......

biggrin.gif
*
Lucky for u, this is not /k and people here are still learning shakehead.gif . Don't give advice if you're not sure about it mate, I recommend reading more instead of just listening to what people say. 20-30kg in 2 or 3 years? Thats the biggest BS ever man, and seriously, no offense to u, just sharing my opinions. whistling.gif
And your "diet" plan is totally screwed up, but if it works for u, I've got notninh else to say.. yawn.gif

QUOTE(Max_07s @ Sep 24 2010, 10:40 AM)
i think u wrong, he can starts weight training and cardio directly.
no need to do cardio before weight training. in fact weight training can increase his metabolism well.
*
Some one who speaks sense, thank you. But I gotta disagree with not doing cardio before weight training. IMO doing it does u no harm, and if you're really into loosing weight, burning those extra calories on the treadmill will definitely do u some good. Not only that, it also serves as a good warm up, get the blood and momentum flowing so o speak. Oh, but don't push yourself too hard, no use using up all your energy early and having nothing for weight training.. sweat.gif

actually it's hard for newcomer to do this.
What are u r trying to do is bulking process.. the effect should be in the long term process.

during this process, your weight will getting high, but I'm sure it's just giving u depression.
Recommendation : try to review your diet schedule again, n reschedule ur gym time until ur weight loss (body fat loss) equal to muscle mass gain.. you should track ur progress in 3 weeks and able to justify the progress.

if you're keep doing above method, I'm sure, u'll have better body with same weight..
when u think it's enough with level of muscle mass, reduce to maintain mode, and start do cardio to reduce body fat..
*
Very well said..

Would like to add a bit if u don't mind ya...

Trust me dude, you'll definitely gain some weight because your muscle mass is increasing faster than your body can burn the fat because your metabolism is still adjusting to your new lifestyle. Give it a few more weeks, you will definitely be seeing weight reductions if you :-
1) Control your eating habits
2) Workout REGULARLY instead of going to the gym 1-2 times a week and do 4-5hour sessions per workout(I know its crazy, but I've seen people doing it). Try and make it AT LEAST 3-4 times if u have the time, and give yourself rest days in between if the next day your body feels too tired.
3) Get ENOUGH SLEEP!!! One thing many people don't really take into consideration is the amount of sleep they need once they start changing their lifestyle. Try to get AT LEAST 6 hours of proper uninterrupted sleep each night so that your body has sufficient time to get revitalised..

This is some of the sure ways of loosing FAT. Remember, its not about loosing WEIGHT, its always about loosing FAT! flex.gif

Rowing in the gym is a really good cardio workout. For those of u who hit those expensive gyms with rowing machines, by all means, go ahead and try them out. I've started using it recently, just joined a new gym in langkawi, expensive, but no choice but to make do with what I have, sigh

Atkins was all the hype quite some time ago, but some ppl stopped following it after further studies were carried out (go google it).
No offence, but doing only dumbell curls (assuming thats what you're referring to) cant be considered "weight training" mate, its called shiok sendiri. When u jog, dont stop when ur legs get tired, instead, always try to push yourself each time u do a lap, try to improve your time or number of laps every session. And whats up with the burgers mate?! Assuming ur getting the ramly burger patties, its nothing but processed done man, a really big no no!

Yup, which is why Atkins had a huge following but failed big time. Look at the type of food u find in the states, the people who kept up with Atkins eventually had a tough time keeping the up after months or even years of following it. Some succumbed to temptation, others just couldnt fit it into their lifestyle after a while. Look at what they eat, or are given the choice to eat, full of carbs and transfat. Minus the healts conscious, not many even bother about what they're eating, how much nutrients they're getting or what they're even supposed to be getting each day..

QUOTE(lilredridinghood @ Oct 7 2010, 12:31 PM)
That's a surprise, considering of all the articles I've read, the Atkins Diet is pretty popular in the States, but was hugely opposed by the heart institute as the high fat diet will induce the risk of heart disease
*
Thats what I mean mate, it is famous, but many people realise not long after following it that its not something they can follow as a lifestyle for the rest of their lives. Sure, maybe a couple of months just to loose weight, then its back to square one and they start consuming food there WERE used to before dieting. Here's where the burgers, waffles and pics start coming back into the picture. Not to mention all the soft drinks and snacks. So yeah, Atkins is a good diet for SHORT TERM but not really recommended for something to be followed over the long run. Got all these from watching Oprah and reading some ebooks. Cheers bro icon_rolleyes.gif

squat in term of weight training is it? not the normal squat right??

will try to start doing that this noon.. for starting how much will it do??

ok.. find it already..
squat dumbell
*
Do normal bodyweight squats first man, without dumbells. Make sure u do warm up first, if not tonight die from cramps, haha..
Your jogging was good, keep it up, slowly increase, dont need to try a 1km jog straight away. Your heart will get stronger as u train yourself more and increase the resistance. When I started 10months back, I swear I couldn't even do 200m on the treadmill without stopping. Then slowly push myself and now, can do 7km without a problem. It takes a long time to see a big difference, but dont give up and keep going at it, you'll be able to do it too. To me personally, keeping fit is 80% mental strength, 20% physical. Just psycho yourself, and you'll be able to push yourself more. Never tell yourself u cannot do something!!

Max, try the woodchop exercise with dumbells, use light weights. If u can train yourself to follow the proper technique and stance, you'll be loosing those love handles in a couple of months, I promise.

bro!
what is ur weight before??
*
Was 104kg in December last year if not mistaken, then went up to 108kg when I STARTED working out. After a few weeks, the fats just kept shedding off really fast, then as I started to put on more muscle, still went down, but slowly. Nowadays, I'm not really worried about my weight anymore as my bodyfat percentage is below 12, which is where I intend to keep it. Whatever weight I have on me now, I know is muscle, so not really bothered if I gain or loose 1-2kgs in a week because gaining or loosing it back is just a matter of spending a few extra hours at the gym each week.

QUOTE(Sarah Angelina @ Oct 9 2010, 06:30 PM)
Not stopping la, still far from my goal so can't afford to stop half way. It's just sometimes will be a bit lazy, wanting to pamper myself so cook a bit more fancy food such as chicken chop and etc, but instead of deep fried, my chicken chop is steamed type, the most also grilled  sweat.gif
*
HAHAHAHA, I know exactly how it feels. Nevermind Sarah, giving yourself a cheat day once in a while is actually recommended. Just don't do it too often, or you'll be tempted to go back to the "dark side". I've almost done it myself a couple of times, but thank God I've got friends who will shoot me kao-kao if I even think of it, I call it negatively giving positive reinforcement. tongue.gif
