I could have gone to Viewnet and RMA it for free but most likely they would replace it with the same 'E' model.

Besides, they told me it may take up to 6 weeks. sweat.gif

OCZ is not selling the newer (revised 25nm faster ssd) drive on the market? Can only get it through RMA?

Same price, double density ICs, i.e. same problem with the 25nm issue that hits the Vertex 25nm versions.

The speeds on them will be half of what they are for the G2 case.
*
I don't think the write speed for G2 is a problem,
unless you got another drive can do 200MB/s write speed
then your 2xxMB/s write speed SSD will be utilised else
Intel G2 and other brand SSD having 2xxMB/s read speed is more than enough. laugh.gif

I was saying that comparing the 310 with the G2 series, the speeds might degrade due to less memory channels used.
Sequential throughput is not very important once it reaches a certain limit, say 100MB/s, but the random reads and writes will certainly be affected no?

Oh cheh thought u say other model laugh.gif
the sequential read/write isn't that important but if you do very large file transferring.
random reads / writes speed should be the crucial one. biggrin.gif

how is the current intel x25-m G2 models? thinking of getting one from garage sale since it's so cheap now.. 160gb for RM 750..

I know in terms of speed wise, intel loses out to sandforce chips... but reliability wise? Looking for a drive to speed up my pc... and remain hassle free for some time.. (not one or two month).. looking at newegg responses (failed drives) makes me thinking a few times..

Added on March 22, 2011, 11:35 pmbtw, forgot to mention, i'm currently using the DFI P965-S motherboard with Windows 7.. can it support the intel SSD with AHCI and TRIM?

Mind you again those drive sequential write speed couldn't achieve it self. you are required another drive who can do that kind of speed to utilise the write speed.
ie. you using 200MB/S write speed SSD write into another 200MB/S write speed SSD

Just got myself the OCZ agility 2 60gb version. My P/N is OCZSSD2-2AGTE60G Is this the dreaded "E" series ? I've checked with crystal disk info, couldn't find out if its 25nm or 32nm. Will be running the benchmark on it soon to find out if its performance is reasonable or not. Do notice that the entire system is very much faster for loading of windows or any other applications. Using it in a laptop with AHCI enabled in the bios.

I wanna ask all otai here:

-- According to the forum in OCZ, was adviced to disable page file or put it under control at "2048". Is this advisable or just disable it entirely ?
-- Currently utilizing only 45% of it with all my required apps installed. Temp reading is 30C in CrystalDiskInfo.
-- What else i need to enable or disable ?

Everling: do u have any sample benchmark readings from the crystal disk mark ? I've search thru this thread and found not much of the readings from laptops.

I'm not too concern if my drive is affected, coz the current improvement is sufficient for me. Just worry more on it's reliability. Anyway, will google for more info in it. Thanks for the link.

as for the guide, yes, have followed it, and also this:

http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/sh...ABC-for-OCZ-SSD

Just that, wanna know what else i need to do to protect it coz in my laptop, no spare hdd for backup of data. All my crucial data is on the SSD and if it fails, i might lose it all.

Anyway, if i'm not mistaken, there's no way to recover lost data from the SSD rite ? I mean like the normal hdd which can be send for data recovery service, for SSD no such service yet ? sweat.gif

Nothing better to do, I did a RAID-0 array for 3 x Intel X25-M and this is what I get smile.gif

In terms of real life performance, it makes a bit of difference and everything installs/loads up slightly faster biggrin.gif

What thing you not sure?
I think all the SSD are same, you hardly notice the speed until you compare them side by side and also doing Raid.
But better to get stable SSD lah, dont later this and that firmware issue bla bla make you headache only smile.gif

based on performance,Crucial>Intel>Kingston
based on price,Crucial<Intel<Kingston

imo you might as well wait if you have around RM750 to spend as a 120GB Vertex 3 should be around that price and it totally wipes the floor with the other SSDs.
On the other hadn,if you don't mind getting an OEM SSD,you can get the Intel X25M/X18M G2 160GB rather cheaply at RM430-600
