right now C310 is showing "Road to civilization", subtitle is not working on my byond, can yours switch on the subtitle?

subtitle function is there since day one, astro only implemented switchable subtitle/closed captioning on a few SD channels only, they either do not have the resource or are too lazy I guess not much subscribers are making the complaint so they do not have the urgency to fix the problem, may be astro should outsource the job to India

ask your flat management for permission to install your own dish

astro need to hire more competent software programmers to program their PVR machine and fire some slacker programmers

who cares about whether it is based on linux/android/apple OS/windows/whatever, we want a piece of software that is stable and can run as intended

some of the up-scaled programs from FXHD are pretty good, must be using multimillion dollars up-scaling machine, on the other hand AXN HD produced very poor up-scaled video

you must surrender your old smart card when upgrading to byond

new smart card can only be used with single byond box, some sort of security measure

I think someone tried the new smartcard with old astro box, you will get audio only, no video

when balik kampung, bring along your byond box + remote control + new smartcard, byond box can use old astro dish

alternative way to check your astro account number is to call astro, just give them your IC details and they will give you your a/c number

astro released 2 type of High Definition box, byond and byond PVR, to watch HD channels you will need to pay HD fee of RM20/month, to watch HD movie channels you will need to subscribe to movie package, for HistoryHD and NatGeoHD need learning package, ZhiZunHD needs dynasty package, espnHD needs sparts package, only axnHD and fxHD are free

for byond:
compulsory HD fee: RM20/month
optional recording fee: RM5/month
to store recording you must buy yourself a RM270 WD my passport AV 320GB external USB hard drive


for byond PVR:
compulsory recording fee: RM10/month
optional HD fee: Rm20/month
this box come with free 500GB internal hard disk, please note however you need special 2-output LNB because byond PVR has twin tuners, so it needs 2 cables from the stellite dish to the pvr decoder box

new 65cm dish is slightly bigger, astro give new dish in the byond package, so just take it, compare to old 60cm dish, new dish will receive more satellite signal, if in the future astro give you 1m dish, even better

byond upgrade is free of charge, just return old equipment to astro

however Rm20/month HD fee must be paid

byond get its new channels automatically

byond box can not output 1080p full HD signal, max resolution for byond are 1080i or 720p

can, but analog video through RCA will not be in HD

buy HDMI splitter instead and connect all your HDTV to it to enjoy channels in HD resolution
