QUOTE(Dickong @ Nov 6 2010, 12:21 PM) First thing first, are u using the signal amplifier, i presume u are not. For your info when i took out the signal amplifier the whole screen picture become blur compare when i install the signal amplifier the screen n picture is so clear until it very near to blu ray movie when u are on HD channel, so can explain why so much different when its only picture noise. Actually I did't notice any different PQ on byond when using signal amplifier.A few month ago, I got pixellate problem in a certain time and certain HD channel. Astro technical person came and he remove that amplifier. Until now that problem not occur again. |

in-line rf amplifier is quite useful when there is a very-very long cable run, but make sure it is rated at 2GHz for satellite TV use

QUOTE(neb @ Nov 6 2010, 02:45 PM) picture please It's quite difficult to do the screen capture especially whent he brightness was insufficient and the object on the TV screen was moving. The FTA HD channel that I get on the Openbox S9 was Fashion TV HD + Luxe HD + NatGeo Wild HD from AsiaSat 5, Fashion One HD + Life Inspired HD from Measat 3. As I mention in my previous post, only certain programme PQ quality was good and their average just like the HD channel on Byond.I have seen other people's screen capture from thai HD, although in wide-screen but picture quality is very blur not as good as astro byond Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(AjkR06 @ Nov 6 2010, 01:18 PM) What you mean by your picture quality are really blur before you install the signal amplifier? Up to u to believe it or not, i know what i am talking about becos its not through my knowledge, its through my actual usage that give me the actual benefit n not placebo effect.Picture become pixellite or frequently stuttering? Based on my very limited knowledge, Astro was transmitted using digital signal... and digital signal are only ON and OFF... Your picture will be always same when adequate signal can be received by your dish and LNB... regardless signal quality are higher or not, same quality of picture will be shown on your TV screen.... Picture quality are determined by Astro itself, at their broadcast center.... their compression method and bitrate that they use to transmit the signal to measat satellite... And if low signal are receive by your dish and LNB, as I said above, your picture will not blurry but it will become stuttering like when you watch stretched DVD or VCD, and when raining come to your area.... Sorry to say, maybe that's just a placebo effect..... You can search all of old Byond thread, there are a lot of discussion regarding signal amplifier.... |

Are you using Astro disc with third-party decoder then you could receive all these channels? For free? Any link for the instruction? _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ << EDIT >> I Googled and found more information, in case someone also needs to know: * OLI HD (Temporary?) * Astro Zhi Zun HD (Dynasty) * ONE HD (Preview channel) * HBO HD (Movies) * Star Movies HD (Movies) * National Geographic HD (Learning) * History Channel HD (Learning) * Lifestyle HD (Preview channel) * AXN Beyond HD (Preview channel) * AXN HD (Family) * FX HD (Variety) * Astro SuperSport HD (Sports) * ESPN HD (Sports) All the above information were collected from Googling and digging from Astro Facebook page etc... I'm not using the Astro dish but I believe Astro dish can be used to receive certain Ku-band FTA channel out there. Sarawak here plenty of those > 1m diameter dish and I'm using it for the C-Band |

QUOTE(wongsf @ Nov 7 2010, 01:16 AM) LOL....! Sarawak is beautiful, I especially saw a lot of nice photo of Kuching... By the way, does anyone know how long it will take for Astro to activate HD capability? Because they just changed me a B.yond decoder, but I'm still in normal package and cannot watch any HD channel yet. I thought of call them earlier but then I realized the time already over 12am, so I will have to call them Sunday morning. |

I just called Astro to activate my HD service actually, still waiting for it to take effect. |
