How about 7H's USB card , Ash ? Is it the same chipset they used ?  hmm.gif  hmm.gif  hmm.gif  hmm.gif  hmm.gif

I emailed steelseries the other day and this is what i got:

Dennis Lee, Aug 05 00:05 (CDT):
Is the 5Hv2 USB adapter usable for the 7H headset? Are there any differences between the 5Hv2s' USB adapter and that of the 7H?

Thanks.

Mike S, Aug 05 09:14 (CDT):
Dennis,

The 5Hv2 USB adapter is 100% compatible with the 7H and all of our headsets. There is an updated chip in the 7H USB card but you should not notice any difference in sound quality. Both cards support virtual 7.1 surround sound.

Let me know if you have any further questions, I'll be glad to assist.

Regards,
Mike S

actually. that translates as:

but you should not stop buying 5HV2 USB even though it's an older chip, because we still have so much stock.

this is my opinion
Steelseries usb does support virtual 7.1 surround
but overall it isnt discreet enough (maybe its me)
but then other soundcards like creative may be a better choice
furthermore price isnt that far away..
best of all is to choose real 5.1 than virtual 7.1
just my 6-cents
do correct me if i were wrong

But I'm using onboard realtek integrated audio. Eh but the sound very nice already leh. Any point getting a dedicated soundcard if i'm not an audiophile?

On the other hand, i do not think that the sound card is necessary for me.
Just use the onboard one would do except if i am using my laptop la.

Just playtested new 5Hv2 with SuddenAttack and some music. Still needs some time for it to burn. But first impression's are good. A bit trebly, but good. comfortable, and of course: really, really nice to look at.

How long do you all recommend to burn?
