Who's here using both the Ikari Optical and Laser? I got this weird thing going on with my Laser Ikari.

Is the Laser Ikari a high sensitivity MMO/RTS mouse which is not really for FPS games?
I have right now in front of me both the Laser and the Optical, the thing about the laser is that, it can't track lightning fast movement, the kind of movement that you do when you're doing fast 180 degrees turn in fps games, the mouse stutters.
And if I rapidly move the direction from left to right continuously, the mouse will eventually freezes (all the buttons are working, but just the movement of the mouse stop moving for a while)

For a game like DA:O, this mouse works like a dream, high sensitivity with great accuracy.

So I want to know guys, is it my Laser Ikari a faulty hardware or is it suppose to work like this...

IMO, the Optical felt a bit better for all FPS games, the movement of the optical is more organic/natural as oppose of the Laser being too hopelessly articulate...

I'm pretty sure your Ikari Laser is faulty. My Ikari Laser works fine although I get some skipping randomly. My Ikari Optical however is still more accurate but not by much so I just use the laser since I can program macros for it as well as set a more suitable CPI.

yes
ikari laser isnt meant for fps due to slow tracking speed...

The thing is, how can the mouse be faulty when it's soo accurate? the movement of the cursor is well translate by the movement of the mouse, even to the nearest millimeter.
This mouse certainly awesome for games other than FPS like strategy games for example; I tried it on Dragon Age:Origin and and mouse was meant for this kinda of game.
I'm sure the DOTA gamers out there will find this mouse superbly suited for them...

Not jittery, it just stutter or pauses when I sling the mouse lightning fast across the mat, usually when I wanna do a quick 180 degrees turn in FPS.

Yes, that is a better term.

The Optical's tracking somehow felt natural, it's 'instinctive' when moving the crosshair in FPS games.

I can say about this two mouse is:
the Laser's cursor accelerate fast and also "brake" fast, this I felt great for high sensitivity gaming that requires pinpoint accuracy --> MMO/RPG/RTS/Strategy/etc.
the Optical's cursor accelerate moderately-fast (easy to maintain aim at fast moving target) and "break" or slow down moderately (easy to aim moving targets appose to the Laser which the target are standstill and stationary)

What you think bro? Are my opinion anywhere valid? tongue.gif

No jitter problems, just not suited for fast pace FPS games,
for MMO/RPG/RTS/Strategy/etc. and of course DOTA, this mouse is perfect,

For those kind of games: (non FPS)
-the Optical makes my hand feels tired only after playing for a while, but the Laser works effortlessly, I can play for hours and my hand still felt relaxed due to only small movement and minor correction of the moving hand, while the Optical my hand move all over the place sweat.gif

@pang: optical is not suited for dota since thumb trigger cannot be programmed and lack on cpi
@JoBigShow: i see you get the point alredy. bt its nt quiet accurate.
ikari optical have higher fps than laser.( i have no idea wat sps is) so higher fps is suited for fps games. cpi has nothing to do wit this issue, neither with acceleration

Thanks for clearing that out. biggrin.gif
Agreed with the suggestion for pang, the macro is proven very useful since it can record multiple commands is a single click,
plus, can change to specific dpi without exiting the game, this feature is excellent.

personally i would suggest an ikari optical. an ikari laser would probably cause you crosshair to move "up down" when you strafe your mouse in sudden attack. unless of course you know how to fix it by setting all the profiles correctly.

Since you are a DA user, you might want to try how the Ikari feels in your grip, some people who are previous Razer users didn't like the feel of the Ikari, and some love it.
Yeah, you might want to know know it feels like before straight getting the expensive Ikari Laser.
The Optical's tracking would much less feels like the DA, the DA's tracking should b a little bit tactile than the Ikari Optical, but the Ikari feels nice in your hand.

SS, professional gears indeed. If i had to tweak many settings to get it working, i'd probably stay away from it though..

i'm more of a get-up-n-go type of gamer. icon_idea.gif

between 6Gv2 and 7G...without a doubt take the 6Gv2 since it gets rid of the fat like the usb1.1 ports and the audio/mic input...pity lack of wristrest tho.
but since SS got a new distro, take blackwidow better tongue.gif
