Default Android lockscreen no good? I like it cos can adjust volume and see battery % while charging, but it's difficult to slide to unlock though
I'm going all out - by downloading underclocked ROM, flashing to 5.09.00.08 radio and bump charging. Hopefully I can get better battery life
Yeah, downloading it smile.gif
*
Well, that is too extreme for me tongue.gif I can live with 1 days+ battery life but only hoping for better. No harm trying the bump charge though tongue.gif

Asian Language ? Probably. But don't care much as the official FroYo already have Chinese.
Root it yo flex.gif

I did. Twice tongue.gif On Modaco ROM now but somehow, i wanted the official ROM. Not sure why tongue.gif Somehow the expectation from Eclair to Froyo from me quite doesnt feel the same when i switched from WinMo6.1 to WinMo6.5 tongue.gif

*
Gonna get the BT case tonite. Hopefully fits into the pouch perfectly tongue.gif

QUOTE(CKHong @ Aug 9 2010, 05:31 PM)
they said.. never make til ur battery go to 0/fully discharge...
its not good for the battery...
*
Well, that still shouldnt be the cause of the problem. I have emptied my battery a couple of times as well smile.gif

@iceman31, its its unrooted, then send back to warranty would be your best bet smile.gif

please comment it after you put in the CM BT.. see will it very hard to put in or not... biggrin.gif
thx !!!

ohh.. then maybe i got the info wrong about emptying the battery will make the lifespan of the battery become shorter  smile.gif

QUOTE(DecaPix)
@CKHong, so have you joined the endless fun of rooting and flashing custom ROM?
not yet join the rooting... wait for r4yz to tried out his class 10 kingmax.. see if its ok.. then get 8gb memory card then nie i join u all biggrin.gif
*
Well, just got the BT and one word - Nice! Fits nicely to the Desire and still give it a slim profile. Fits perfectly to the pouch as well. Its tight but not as in very hard to put in. smile.gif

Regarding the battery, well, there is report saying that the lifespan is shorter but of course, draining it fully wont kill it immediately tongue.gif

One thing though, the CM SP is slightly smaller than the screen. I didnt use it but applied another DC Mugen SP that i bought previously. I changed from Matte to Gloss and the difference is amazing. To be honest, running the AMOLED screen on matte SP really does not bring justice to the AMOLED. It looks so much nicer now that i have applied the gloss SP. Strongly recommended to anyone that is currently on matte though.

There is a few guys in the Garage Sales that are selling them smile.gif Some say Penang shops have them as well. Not sure in KL though.

QUOTE(nick67 @ Aug 9 2010, 09:17 PM)
Haha, I just changed to matte from glossy..Kinda loving it smile.gif Yes, it reduces visibility but I don't see that much smudges and fingerprints on it anymore! biggrin.gif
*
Well, scrolling is easier on the Matte as well as no fingerprints and stuff but i can live with that. I just love the screen to be so bright and vibrant now on the gloss and wouldnt mind wiping the smudges away everyday tongue.gif

but then since u highly recommend Gloss... i might try that..
actually whats the specialty of Gloss ?? i know few type nie.. eg : clear, matte, privacy, mirror.. but never heard of Gloss...

QUOTE(menghua84)
just got mine today as well.. and yeah.. the screen protector does not fit the whole screen though.. yet the case fits perfectly. I was thinking how to fit my phone into it without scratching it..
Hi, any good method to apply the CM BT ?? cus i saw one fella who try to sell his desire stated, he got a little scratch from applying the CM BT ~
Just ordered CM BT... biggrin.gif will arrive within 3 day
*
Mine is the DCMugen one that i bought previously from Garage Sales. It fits the screen better than the CM BT one as that is slightly shorter by about 1 - 2mm. Anyway, i fit in mine without scratching it. It aint exactly that sharp / hard to begin with so do wont worry smile.gif

anyone with SIS set manage to get froyo update already?

i just bought desire for my dad and thinking of upgrading the firmware before i give the phone to him..

None available for SEA units yet. Only root and get the EU FroYo version.

Anyone knows where can we get Chrome BT case except ordering directly from CM? So far, people in Garage Sales only offers Pink and Black.

Like removing some apps? Or move them to SD if you have Froyo?

No. Even FroYo doesn't work that way. And only FroYo have options to move the application to SD.

I just want the white color.. That's why ordering myself.

Thats inclusive of shipping? Too bad i got mine already but white do look tempting tongue.gif

QUOTE(chiahau @ Aug 10 2010, 01:49 PM)
Mind if i ask for the Beta version link to swype that works on FroYo?
Internet too poor here to really search and the default Keyboard is driving ppl mad~
*
Beta version is closed already. Many believe its due to Samsung acquiring it for the Galaxy S. Keep searching the web for older versions. Not many links available currently.

QUOTE(OFFSPRING @ Aug 10 2010, 01:54 PM)
So I have to bare with this problem until I install froyo?
*
Yes. Thats the only choice. Thats why people are insisting on FroYo to be released for SEA units.

Thanks for the clear reply. So the problem where HBOOT 0.80 unable to downgrade to HBOOT 0.75 RUU is solved? or it's not a concern here?

As i understand, to Flash with the RUU mentioned above i just need to run the exe and get the zip file in PC and put it in phone SD card, use the Clockwork recovery and flash with that zip file right?
*
No. If you want to flash with the RUU to get back the unrooted version, all you need to is is make sure your phone have at least 30% battery, plug in the USB cable (doesn't matter whether its in HTCSync mode or Disk Drive mode), launch the RUU and keep pressing next. It will automatically finish up everything for you, including flashing to stock Eclair, stock radio etc. No need any Zip files. Zip files only required when you want to flash to Custom Roms.

Which step is it for flashing radio ?? sorry noob here XD
wahh thanks for the explanation ~~  back home will compile what u say as reference  XD
actually before that i read from xda also not very sure how to do... now know better  rclxms.gif
*
Flashing of Radio are exactly the same as flashing of ROM. Actually all of them have their risk. All you need to do is aware of what you are doing and just follow them step by step. Don't skip any and you are good to go smile.gif Be confident or else, don't do it smile.gif

Since flashing Radio is very dangerous and can brick phone, any tips to avoid that tragedy?

btw, does flashing official RUU will also restore the Recovery (from clockworkMod -> default) ? is there anything else which installing official RUU won't restore to default?
*
When you flash using the official RUU, everything will be back to stock, as the same when you purchased it.

QUOTE(LuffyPSP @ Aug 10 2010, 04:48 PM)
Yeah and flashing radio usually takes place when you want to use a ROM that require the latest or specific radio, else you dont need to flash it though.

the steps, as said by those above, are the same except on radio, the consequences are bit worst if you screw up. But the probablity to screw it is very tiny. Just make sure you dont touch! dont move! your phone at all. i flash ROMs freely but for radio flashing, i take good care of the steps. and battery should be 75% and above to be safe.
*
Exactly. The consequences and risk are actually very small nowadays unless you screw up big time. Just read the instructions given carefully before you do it. Anyway, just for a refence, except for maliqu3's blog, this is one of the steps that i follow to flash and root my phone. Its actually very easy and listed out step by step. Follow exactly what they say and you will be fine.

QUOTE(LuffyPSP @ Aug 10 2010, 05:56 PM)
Quite same guide when i use for my first rooting and flashing but different site.
1) Desire is newer, nexus one older, but they are brothers! the closest one i've ever seen...hehe...and nexus one are not produced anymore. well let others tell more about it as I have only use Desire only so far. Never touched N1 but i would love to!

2)If you mean 3g by browsing and such, i never experience those, as i'm online most of the time...and i'm pretty sure Desire dont have the front camera so i know you mean the browsing and such right? huhu...tongue.gif just make sure dont use it while you're charging, or else it'll be hot like a BBQ...tongue.gif

3)Depends. if you use lots of widgets that sync at specific time intervals on your homscreen, then might not. Not sure bout this, i have mine at 12 hours at most using a custom rom that is. with the stock rom, only 6-8 hours. some can get to 2-3 days but usually they turn off their wifi/data while not in use so thats why.

At the very first use you'll notice the battery will drain fast as hell. but in a week, it gets better. and there's a method to bump charge your battery too! i found my battery up to 10 hours so far with heavy use; 4 - 6 hours on wifi/data, normal msg/call usage (sometimes chatting with girlfriend, you know how long can it be..tongue.gif), youtube, camera/video recording(720p), and downloading stuffs from market too!...10 hours is quite good la for me.
*
Well, most of the guides are same with just some minor tweaks here and there. I got confused last time due to certain small differences but again, all of them achieve the same objective smile.gif

Bump charge never exactly worked for me. Even if it does, its barely noticeable on my side. I am still getting about 1 1/2 day of usage, with occasional browsing, phone calls, SMS, music listening and games.

err.. actually how do u use this 720p? is it big diff when using 720p?
*
720p is the quality of the video. Its basically a HD resolution video at a slower framerate but a higher quality.

QUOTE(Pennywise @ Aug 10 2010, 07:41 PM)
So all the talk about rooting and flashing, what mod Froyo are you guys using right now? I'm on LeeDroid 1.6. Feel its draining my battery too fast. Wanna upgrade or try another mod. SUGGESTIONS please.

What do you wanted to do first? Just purely to connect, you can simply plug in the USB cable and select Disk Drive. It will be detected automatically, as a removable drive (like a Thumb Drive) and no software is required.

From the link, get the ROM with Radio zip file. If you use that to flash, then you do not need to flash the radio separately. It will do it automatically.

Well, I'm kinda looking for good player that can play almost very very good audio.

Do suggest me smile.gif

Sadly, most of the music apps available in the Free Market aren't exactly much better than the default music player sad.gif Tried alot of them and none really is good enough for me yet.
