errm i using handcent message nw .. but how to remove default messaging ? cause when msg reach .. both receive
*
Read the first few post. There is a guide on how to disable it there.

QUOTE(KTCY @ Aug 11 2010, 03:51 PM)
How about paid ? Any suggestion ?
*
No idea, i never bought anything from the market. tongue.gif There are some recommendations out there for good, free apps but to be honest, they are exactly the same as the default player, except the synching software for PC acts like the iTunes which makes it easier to sync songs from the Desire to the PC.

QUOTE(triplexpresso @ Aug 11 2010, 04:29 PM)
No choice u gotta go AP or stick with Maxis for a year, I was a loyal digi customer for 5yrs but when I heard that digi was not gonna carry Desire, I was very disappointed. The 1 month block was also part of the reason i switched to Maxis. 2 years warranty + a free HTC car charger was quite a good deal I reckon.
But I still do miss Digi. Maxis is a tad overpriced in my opinion and I am looking forward to move back to digi after my 1 year is up with Maxis. Hope that they will have a more competitive smartphone plan when the time comes biggrin.gif
Do the calculation and compare which one can save you more $ over the course of 1 year (AP+Digi or Maxis Rm1599 but 1yr contract).
Ganbare~! You can do it. Any probs just report in, many people who are more than willing to help in here smile.gif
*
There is actually Original SIS sets available that are not bonded to Maxis smile.gif Personally would not go AP.

I'm finding OpenDesire rom too "stock" to my liking... any good froyo custom ROMs you guys stick to?
*
If you wanted more customization, the Modaco R8 ROM would be your best choice, having an online kitchen to bake whatever application that you wanted. However, it is a paid app smile.gif But for one time payment, you get unlimited and future downloads as well. Kinda worthy if you are willing to splash the cash.

QUOTE(carpathia @ Aug 12 2010, 11:59 PM)
sorry.noob here.
1) is it the right time to buy a htc desire since they are launching the super lcd models soon?
2) android 3.0 coming soon ....wtf...am i buying into old tech RIGHT NOW ?
*
1) SLCDs are already in the market. Beware with Maxis, cause their latest advertisement says Desire is on AMOLED. Its either they have old stocks uncleared or they don't know about the AMOLED switch.

2) It does not matter to be honest. So far, no create news on when it will come out. Most of the rumors out there stated October / November. By the looks of it, its going to be a Google Phone that is getting it first and will take another month or two to reach other people. Thats another half a year, and who knows by the time it is release, Android announces 3.1 or maybe even 4.0. Besides, there is a minor chance Desire might get 3.0 as well tongue.gif

Anyway, another browser choice for Android users. Finally the Google Chrome is here! Its already available in the Market.

Source : http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/12/chrome-...id-froyo-users/

But with ONE catch! Its only available for FroYo users! I now officially condemned HTC SEA for not bringing FroYo for us sooner tongue.gif

nah.. wont be using tethering

Basically just for office use to keep up-to-date with emails and occasional GPS use(does GPS use data? sorry very new to these things) nothing more.. not even FB or twit or youtube wan..

worst come to worst, check malaysiakini and thestar online daily..

for my dad, not for me biggrin.gif
*
Google Maps uses data + GPS. Other dedicated GPS program will not (like NDrive, Co-Pilot, Papago). For me, i havent even maxxed out my 1GB transfer from DiGi at the moment, even with occasional surfing of net, downloading of small files (about 8 - 10MB in size), facebook, tweeting and stuff. But beware with Maxis, many reported having problem with them overcharging. Whether its really overuse or Maxis's fault, i have no idea smile.gif

QUOTE(ho-ll @ Aug 13 2010, 10:58 AM)
Guys, I need some help here! I rooted my Desire and downloaded LeeDroid 1.8a rom to flash it. When I'm in the HBOOT menu, select the zip to apply, I cannot find the Leedroid folder unless I unzip it. But, once I unzip it, there are 3 main folders inside and many more sub-folders within them.

So which folder should I choose to flash my rom?
*
You should not unzip the folder. In recovery. select "Choose Zip To Install" and find the LeeDroid file. Before this, you need to put the LeeDroid Zip into the root directory of the SD card (meaning, the first layer of folder when you plug in via USB drive).

thanks !
Another question
how do we determine the read/write speed ??
From my computer > window 7  I tried
Original 2gb from maxis (class 2 if not mistaken)
Copy from sdCard to computer > Speed = ~7mb
Copy from computer to sdCard > Speed = ~6.5mb
[the speed i see when i expand "more details" during copying

Kingmax 8gb(class 10)
Copy from sdCard to computer > Speed = ~11mb
Copy from computer to sdCard > Speed = ~5.5mb

which one is the reading speed ??
cus froyo they said the most important is the reading speed rite?
is there any other more accurate test on it ??
*
There is a USB Drive speed tester program called Sandra that can do that but that is on USB drive. Not sure whether you can do that on Memory Card or not. Another program that is quite reliable is called ATTO. Do remember, even OS will affect the speed of the memory card.

btw, did you notice red and green line on the slide to answer bar in nextsense 5.1?

and how to set the setCPU to save battery? just down-clock it thats all?
*
That is on the default FroYo Slide to Answer. Not a nextsense specific smile.gif

*
Previously on Eclair, they have this text message at the bottom of the bar, indicating something like "Slide Up to Reject Or Slide Down To Answer". I rather have the lines, rather than those texts tongue.gif Might be confusing though for those that never use Eclair before.

You want to read more ? I guess Iphone thread can tell you so much more about over billing.
*
You can be safer with the Desire compared to iPhone if you are on Maxis plan. The thing with iPhone AFAIK, is that they could not turn of the data connection if they do not jailbreak. And even with the WiFi turned on, they could still be using data connection (depending which is faster). For Desire, you have the option of turning it off in the Mobile Networks. However, whats the point of turning them off if you have taken the Maxis package. Its just how they calculate the total usage that causes problem which often does not seem you use that much.

QUOTE(akira de aimbuster @ Aug 14 2010, 01:58 AM)
so is it confirm that HTC desire will use SLCD from this moment onwards? or until the AMOLED is available again... hmm.gif
*
With Maxis's stock finishing so fast, doubt they still even have the AMOLED around unless you are getting it from shops.

is nDrive good?  i will still stick to papago ... but if there is garmin for android ill use it more wink.gif
*
NDrive is available in the market for trial. Try it out and see whether its good or not. I tried it before and it was ok. Abit complicated when it comes to finding places because they allow you to state the street, the town and stuff. Otherwise, the guide was good enough for me.

I wanted to try Papago but somehow it seems to be in Mandarin which i don't understand tongue.gif Which version of papago you using?

1. Just checked out the SLCD screen at Android Garage, though not much difference, but it was still visible especially in terms of contrast and gradient. Glad that mine is Amoled.

2. HTC SEA confirmed that Froyo will be available to Desire owners latest by the end of September. From the horses mouth. ;-)
*
Any source of the confirmation? Would be great if its true.

QUOTE(samurai1337 @ Aug 14 2010, 08:24 PM)
How do you find the trial?

I don't really like ndrive after trying it for a while, the UI isn't very intuitive especially you want to find a location. Prefer Google maps [brut] - it would be good enough if the voice isn't that robot-like
*
Thats the only complain i have with NDrive. Its not exactly easy to find a location but for nagivation and guidance, its ok for me, having compared it with Garmin that i used previously.

AP Desire? Is it from Europe i presume? If it is, just go to Settings -> About Phone -> Software Update and you will get the official FroYo. No need to root.

Tempting with NextSense5.3 tongue.gif Probably i should reroot again tongue.gif

Btw, higher quadrant score = higher performance? And with higher performance = higher battery consumption?

Btw, anybody here on FroYo that is on this radio - version 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04 ?

Its reported to increase the 3G speed by 10 times shocking.gif Do you see any difference? Or is our 3G speed already at max with our provider tongue.gif

Please try and report back regarding the 10x speed brows.gif
*
Well, i am on stock Eclair at the moment, and wanting to shift to NextSense. However, it comes with this radio - 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20 and a newer version than the 10x speed. Not sure whether its available on it or not though. Btw, for NextSense, is this the way to do it?

- Root the phone
- Wipe all the data + SD card + cache
- Install the ROM
- Install the Radio

Do i have to do this :

- Install App2SD+? Is it a default or is it optional?
- Partition my SD with ROM Manager? If partition, use EXT3 or EXT4?

Thanks.
