if u want sense, modaco r8 is quite good and stable. no sense try the latest nightly cyanogenmod 08182010 it's now has better battery life, coz the OJ bugs should be fixed by now.

Am using r8 since I rooted my device. Will try out CM mod later.

QUOTE(akachester @ Aug 18 2010, 05:57 PM)
Exactly. On paper, R8 seems to be the best out there for Sense FroYo. Too bad i don't have a premium account to test it out tongue.gif

any other ROM u wanna recommend me ? for my first ROM on flash biggrin.gif
*
i dont like nextsense or leedroid. it takes too long for the first boot, i hate that. my recommendation is modaco r8, cyanogen nightly (the latest one, it even beats the rc2) or delite. if i'm not busy on friday, i'll help u.

I finally rooted my desire using the unrevoked method after considering to do or not to do for a long time and reading and rereading instructions from a few sites. You know lah, scared I mess up the phone. Anyway, finally took the plunge and everything went smoothly and at the end of the process, after rebooting, my Desire had the Superuser Permissions icon which I take it to mean my device is rooted.

Now, as soon as the phone got rebooted at the end of the rooting process, my phone suddenly had a notification saying "low on space" .. phone is low on memory space or something like that.

Before I rooted my phone, I had been running on 15MB of available memory for a couple of weeks and this notification never came up. As soon as it got rooted, the memory space showed 14MB available along with the "low on space" notification. I rebooted the phone but notification wont go away.

Did a search on google, but not much help.

I deleted one 12MB Talking Tom program just to test out and the the notification finally went away after rebooting. I hope the stupid notification wont come back as I read a couple of threads that your phone cannot istall stuff or receive mail/sms as long as the notification is up.

So, 2 questions I have for the gurus here please:

1. Why the notification only appeared after I rooted the phone, while I had been running on virtually same amount of memory space (15MB) for 2 weeks unrooted.

2. Why do I have so little memory available on my Desire? I dont install any games or GPS maps at all, except for the Talking Tom thing for my kids. Other than that, it's all just productivity type software and stuff. From what I can see on the stats on the phone, the available disk space is 147MB only on my Desire and if I had 15MB left, means that I used up 132MB on not many programs/data.

When I backup all my apps using mybackup Pro, the whole zip backup file for ALL applications (minus 12MB Talking Tom) is only 32MB and Data backup is only about 1MB. So, where the hell did the remaining 100MB of disk space go? I can't find any useful info in "manage applications" interface in settings.

Someone out there can help me shed some light on this problem? I hope the notification wont come back but at the same time, my phone memory needs sorting out and I hope rooting my phone will help solve the problem.

Thanks.

1. if i'm not mistaken the notification will show up if ur memory has less than 15mb
2. u should format ur phone first before rooting it. if u have less memory, probably u have to much cache on ur phone. u need to clean it. try install cachemate to clean cache.

non sense is like on nexus one. the interface is different, it's simpler and lighter than sense. so it's good if u like to play 3D games and dont want to feel any lag.

u dont have to go to recovery just to clean cache. if ur rom has busybox u can try to install cachecleaner, it's a good cache cleaner.

you still can add widget on no-sense (vanilla), but cant add htc widget. try to add widget on ur phone now and see below the apps' name. you will see two different types, htc and android. so, if u flash no-sense rom u wont find htc apps.
