QUOTE(draco82 @ Aug 5 2010, 06:09 PM) Mine advise is follow only 1 method as these methods are known to be work and proven by a lot of people.... ohh.. then i shud go for the old method or the unrevoked ??Why want to follow the hybrid method? Dont you think it is more risky? At the end you get root phone, why not taking the safe path? Unless you want to prove the hybrid method is working or better... Just my 2cent, no offence on you or DecaPix who create the hybrid way...... need some advice... |

Hi.. question.. is it the only way to see the hboot version is by reboot the phone then press back button? Any other way to check the version?
Another thing is.. once I settle rooting by using unrevoked method.. then when I wanna go back to the original Rom.. I go download it from xda forum.. how do I go back? Do I need to unroot back? Got unroot one kah? After I root it, will my hboot version remain 0.80 or become 0.92??? Wanna know more before I started to root :-) This post has been edited by CKHong: Aug 5 2010, 10:18 PM |

QUOTE(DecaPix @ Aug 5 2010, 10:53 PM) @CKHong, here's what i done to root my phone. Thanks bro ~ appreciate it !!This guide is based on xda as well as from maliqu3’s blog Xda site is as below: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709146 maliqu3’s blog: http://smarty-money.blogspot.com/2010/07/g...-phone-new.html First of all, make sure your phone is fully charged. Having your battery die on you halfway flashing will quite certainly brick it. Download the stock ROM from XDA at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667 Keep it in safe place label it as Stock ROM or something. You need 3 files. 1. Unrevoked - http://unrevoked.com/recovery/ You will get reflash_package.exe 2. Android USB driver - http://c40c9a9c.linkbucks.com/ You will get android-usb-driver.zip 3. HTC Sync - http://www.htc.com/sea/SupportDownload.asp...cat=3&dl_id=933 You will get _HTC Legend_HTCSync.exe Run the reflash package and extract it to a folder. Name it unrevoked or something. Extract the Android USB driver into another folder. Name it Android USB Driver or something. Install the HTC Sync on to the PC. The go to Control Panel and uninstall it. But leave the HTC driver installer there. Reboot PC if required. Turn off your phone, then boot it into the HBOOT menu by holding power and volume down. Connect the phone to your Windows machine with a USB cable and wait for the phone to say HBOOT USB PLUG on screen Open Device Manager. Click Start, then right click on Computer, then click Properties, then click Device Manager. Under Other devices, you should now see the Android 1.0 device. With a “!” mark Right click on Android 1.0 and click Update Driver Software. Click on Browse my computer for driver software. Click on Browse and select the Android USB Driver folder on your computer, click ok, then click next You should get a status bar indicating that the driver is installing. If you get any warnings, just click Ok. Your driver should install. Click Close and make sure Android Bootloader Interface is listed under Android Phone. Reboot PC if required. Disconnect the phone and switch it on as normal. With Desire go to Settings > Connect to PC > Default connection type > Disk drive then Untick ‘Ask Me’ Then go to Settings > Applications > Development > Make sure USB Debugging is ticked. Then go back to Applications and make sure Unknown Sources is ticked. Start the reflash.exe in Admin mode (Right Click > Run as Admin (Only required for Windows Vista + 7) Connect your Desire. Wait (it should take about 1-2 minutes) Then, your Desire should be in recovery mode! Hit reboot. You should now have 'Superuser Permission' in applications menu (it means your phone is rooted now) and you are done!! The phone is rooted! Go to the Android Market and download an app called ‘Titanium Backup‘. Open it and tap the ‘Problems‘ button to install BusyBox. Then hit Menu Button > Batch > Backup All Apps + System Data Wait for it to finish. Turn off your phone & turn it back on holding POWER + VOL DOWN then use vol up/down to scroll down to ‘Recovery‘ and power to select. When you see the recovery screen, use the trackball to scroll to ‘Nandroid‘ and press the trackball to select. Then select ’Backup‘ (You can also use ‘Restore’ to restore) Boot up the phone as normal. Connect the USB cable. Find the Nandroid folder with a “backup” folder in it Copy this to your PC Find the Titanium Backup folder and copy it to your PC. All done! Now it’s ready to flash new ROM! Question bro : Keep it in safe place label it as Stock ROM or something. > keep in my phone memory card / my pc ?? now downloading all the file that needed first... QUOTE(samurai1337 @ Aug 6 2010, 11:17 AM) I'm doing the same thing now - it should take 30-60 minutes to become green and your battery will be good to go ehhh... sounds like danger...EDIT: Even it goes green before 30 minutes, just leave it charging for a bit longer Added on August 6, 2010, 11:18 am Yes, when your device is USB bricked http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691187 will i get USB Bricked if i use unrevoked method ?? or whenever we root our phone, it will have % that it will get usb brick?? i read the link u gave, not reli understand.. it stated some doesn't have this problem.. but till they flash 10 time like that, then they got usb brick... danger eh ~~~ thanks for informing me ! |

QUOTE(samurai1337 @ Aug 6 2010, 01:42 PM) Rooting is never risk free, but I think the chance of getting USB brick is quite low. If you make sure you follow all the steps in the unrevoked method, it should be fine Question :In any case, your phone is still under warranty Lets say I root my desire, i got superuser permission... then I download the original ROM [someone post it at xda... found one version which exactly same as what i'm having now 1.19.707.7] Next time i wanna go back to the original.. izzit i just flash to that original ROM then htc won't be able to track I've root my desire ?? i saw others says they can only track on nexus.. but not desire |

QUOTE(akachester @ Aug 9 2010, 05:45 PM) Gonna get the BT case tonite. Hopefully fits into the pouch perfectly please comment it after you put in the CM BT.. see will it very hard to put in or not... Well, that still shouldnt be the cause of the problem. I have emptied my battery a couple of times as well @iceman31, its its unrooted, then send back to warranty would be your best bet thx !!! ohh.. then maybe i got the info wrong about emptying the battery will make the lifespan of the battery become shorter QUOTE(DecaPix) @CKHong, so have you joined the endless fun of rooting and flashing custom ROM? not yet join the rooting... wait for r4yz to tried out his class 10 kingmax.. see if its ok.. then get 8gb memory card then nie i join u all This post has been edited by CKHong: Aug 9 2010, 06:54 PM |
