Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age II both had their positives and negatives, and it was the negatives that fans cried out the loudest about. The first Dragon Age was too staid and plodding, while the second game was too console-ish. Bioware states that the third Dragon Age will be a mix of the two games.

According to Dr. Ray Muzyka in an interview with PC Gamer, “What we need to do as developers is take that feedback from both sets of fans to heart and see about marrying that in future games in the Dragon Age franchise. I think that the team has actually got a great plan. I think the team is going to have some things that are going to surprise both sets of fans, both core fans and new fans with a marriage of these…the best from both games, Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2. And we look forward more to talking about that in the future.”

Played a few hours of DA2. Man, the first one is so much better

BioWare's Mike Laidlaw (who just joined Twitter!) was up at PAX in Seattle last weekend, dropping a few hints on future Dragon Age 2 DLC, as well as what Bioware is planning for the next iteration in the series, Dragon Age 3.

Neogaf has kindly summarized a few reports on the panel, and we'll go even one further for you "TLDR" types: Dragon Age 3 will feature the world of Ferelden at war between mages and templars, with the player traveling around to places as far as Orlais and Tevinter to try and calm (or maybe stoke, knowing Bioware) the fighting. One of the maps shown was "four to five times larger than Ferelden," and cited as the future of the series.

The story of the first game's Warden "is over," apparently, and while there's still more of Hawke's story left to tell, writer David Gaider hinted that the protagonist of the third game would be yet another new hero. Co-op is possible but not likely, followers will keep their "unique" armor designs but still change visually over time, and combat will revolve around "preparation, teamwork, and positioning," with less button-smashing and more thought given to prepping your team for battle.

In closer plans, Laidlaw said that we'll see more of Varric in upcoming DLC for Dragon Age 2, as well as Leliana and Flemeth. Morrigan will be back as well, and BioWare says that the Legacy DLC was received well, so that will be the model for updates in the future. Minus that last boss fight -- the team agrees that the AI in there wasn't quite as smart as they would have liked. Though it doesn't seem all that hard to program fire to equal bad, right?

Some high profile BioWare-ites have teased what the RPG studio has planned for the next major instalment to Dragon Age, and Hawke could return.

They could also go with an all-new protagonist - they haven't decided. In any event the world is tearing itself apart as Templars and Mages fight for control.

Creative Director Mike Laidlaw, executive producer Mark Darrah, Art Director Matt Goldman and Writer David Gaider were all at PAX and sitting on a discussion panel. Dragon Age III would feature an all-out brawl between the Templar and the Mages.

The player character, whoever that ends up being, will be travelling Thedas to gather allies and attempt to put an end to the conflict. The studio affirmed that an MMO is not part of their plans to further expand the BioWare created IP franchise.

Apparently the team is using Dragon Age II DLC to help fine tune the combat to help them decide what direction to take in the next sequel. For customisation of your party BioWare is presently treading somewhere in between Origins and II.

I finished playing the Hunted THE DEMON's FORGE, THE WITCHER 2 (NICE SEX SCENCES THOUGH hahaha!!) and DARKSIDERS!!

but DRAGON AGE 2 IS.............................. F***ing SUCKS!!!!!!!! Bad game interaction!! Poor fighting movements!! And I really don't like the F***ing cursor in the screen (I don't know why, but it just suckS..!!).

Dragon Age 2 is not even better than The Witcher 2 but i really don't know why the F**King Dragon Age 2 is rated above than The Witcher 2 in some sides, because i always do some researches before i buy some games but..... F**K the Dragon Age 2 because it wasted my money, F**K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People please don't waste your money to buy Dragon Age 2, for those who haven't bought one yet. Those who bought Dragon Age 2 try to sell it to other people as soon as possible, or at least trow it into the dustbin.

As first mentioned in 2010, Dragon Age is getting an animated CG feature. Today, MSNBC reported that it will be directed by Fumihiko Sori of Ping Pong fame. It'll be out in 2012 in Japan. [MSNBC]
