No u cant, Unifi is using the diff kind of network. Thats TM intention of not mixing up the numbers, so it is easier to their telco engineer.

There are no other way. You have to pay the rental if u want to keep that number. if you hate that problem, stick back to streamyx.

They will not find that router.. there is no one router to fit everyone's needs. I set to work looking for alternatives since April because any idiot can see that users do not want to be locked onto and fully dependent on a single piece of equipment. They could have configured the BTUs to remove the need for VLAN tagging but they chose not to.. same sh*t with their SIP and IPTV system.
*

I have that thinking too but since I have limited knowledge about fibre optics and networks, I wouldnt be bother asking is it possible to setup this way, but since u just mention it. It makes sense now, why the heck they need to use that DIR-615, the BTU multiple ports enough to connect to IPTV and Internet separately.

Why not just include the estimate roughly ~price on top of this long list? biggrin.gif Easier right?

btw guys, does the TMnet automatically cancel ur old fix line(telephone number) if you were streamyx combo user?

I dont really like to lose my old number suddenly without notice. sweat.gif (got a few more day to Unifi installation)

I asked them before, they said I have to do it myself ....
So I don't think TM will cancel any current telephone/streaymx automatically I asked them before

I was on Streamyx+Celcom combo and I have to run 2 separate places just to cancel my streamyx... sweat.gif

I'm still keeping my old number, just too many contacts listed with the old number la .....
as for the new number, i use it to call any TM number since it's free ! nod.gif
*

hehe thats what I have been wondering. the old number really got a lot of old contacts, not a good idea to lost it automatically. sweat.gif

As for the new number may be I treat it as Family/relatives/close friends number. Gonna make this number for private use tongue.gif

Ok guys I followed Rizvan's guide on the custom router part. Things work flawlessly for now, 615 is still showing no sign of failing.

I disabled the 615 wireless, but one thing keep me wonder, would it be possible to use the remaining LAN port 1 & 2 become another 2 LAN port? It seems the 2 LAN port become useless after I follow Rizvan's guide. Is to possible to set WAN connection 4 to tag 500 for internet connection while keeping the Internet on custom router alive? I still dont think we can do pppoe on the custom router then and 615 at the same time. Or is there another way?

Someone enlighten me.

Hey Riz, would it be possible to use the remaining 2 LAN ports as normal switch LAN port? After making the port 3 Bridge, keeping port 4 for IPTV?

It seems the 2 LAN port become useless after I follow Rizvan's guide bridging 615's LAN3 for custom router. Is to possible to set WAN connection 4 to tag 500(basically factory setting of WAN connection 1) for internet connection while keeping the Internet on LAN port <-> custom router alive? Not sure if we can do pppoe on the custom router then and 615 at the same time. Or is there another way?

I don't understand what you mean, what are you trying to achieve? Why would you want PPPoE on your own router and also on the DIR-615?

I also never used WAN connection 4, I just modified 1 and 3 and applied 3 to a physical port. I believe I changed the VLAN ID of WAN connection 1 (the default PPPoE profile) to 700 to prevent some kind of conflict but I can't remember what that was.
*

thats right. I wanted to use my custom router for Internet connections as well as the 2 remaining ports the 615 unit have. Is it possible to do it?

Something like this.

BTU<--->615<--LAN3--> Router<---->Desktop

615<---LAN1/2--->Desktop

There's not enough ports and its not possible since the DIR-615 is wired into the WAN port of your router (which automatically blocks off all rfc1918 traffic).

Oh jeeez. doh.gif

I got my IP CCTV DVR beside my 615, and my own router on another floor. sweat.gif

I have problem with my Aztech Homeplug 109EP connecting STB, there is no powerline activity (even I press and hold 2 sec for both homeplugs, wait for 2 minutes, result still the same), there's only two out of three lights lid, please advise me, homeplug sifus.

Thanks in advance
*

At first not sure which LED is not on, iam using 110E here, it is only 2 LED if u dot not plug ur LAN cable. Do you? tongue.gif the 3rd LED is Ethernet LED. May be swap another LAN cable to test it out

if u follow the advise in the manual, initially it ask you to put 2 homeplugs that u want to paired up side by side, then press the button for 10sec for one of them.

If the center LED then the network ID might be diff. You might want to repress the button again and go back to process again.

Mine is Powerline Activity is not on, power and ethernet led is on.  If I do not plug LAN cable, there is only one power led on.

I did not paired side by side. Do I need to have LAN cable connected to modem/STB for pairing? Thanks for replying
*

Try putting them side by side, if not reset back to factory setting. You probably mess up the powerline security settings.

Since STB is pretty much a streaming machine, any idea replace it with a HTPC or desktop PC for recording? tongue.gif

TM does not want this because the security they have for maintaining user->stream access control is through the STB's firmware itself. I'm sure there are many exploits that still work but even if I (or someone else) continues to develop them, we'll keep it private as TM patched the last few ones using info from this thread within 24 hours.

good to know that. The discussion ends here for now. smile.gif

Was told that VIP5 subscribers may end up having to pay for some of the "premium" HyppTV channels but free for VIP10 and VIP20 subscribers. Don't ask me what those "premium" channels are
*

well not everyone of us would be bothering that anyway.

if they really want to promote more local content, they should provide more flexibility on the STB itself. Right now it is rather limited, no recording is MEH. doh.gif Why should I bother Restream my TV programes when I can get from other source and record it, and watch it offline again and again without bothering my internet.

Besides i not even know how to use all the bandwidth here. 3 days already I barely hit 5GB DL sweat.gif

I saw a note on their hypptv web page a month or so back saying that certain channels will be premium channels (cbeebies was one of them) and chargeable on 1st september onwards.

I only got my unifi on 1 sep, and when I choose cbeebies there's a charge of 3 or 5 "points" per month to subscribe to it. I'm not sure if there was such a charge before 1 sep or not.

You get 100 free points a month, the technician said you can top up by calling their call center and it will be charged to your bill. I don't know how much it costs though.
btw, does anybody know where I can get a cheap HDMI switch? What are the prices like in Pasar Road? My TV has only one HDMI which is being used for my mythtv pc right now. I saw a HDMI switch in all-it for RM400, not worth paying that to watch hypptv.
*

the 100 points per month cannot be carry forward.... which is A HUGE MEH. doh.gif If TM actually give us a decent STB and provide some decent channels, they can easily eat a huge chunk of Astro's market share. They got a perfect network and infra now. All they need is a good execution. At this rate I can see my STB is nothing more than a alternative of Free TV platform.

Offer me VOD on F1 race live, then I definitely will pay for it. I am not going to pay the entire Astro sport package just for 1 sport that I am interested. Thats what I am hoping they™ can make such offer.
