I am not sifu but i guess i can answer u after my survey and study.

As my post earlier, I intend to buy two home plugs as most likely my BTU and DIR-615 will be located at First Floor Family Hall, then IPTV to be installed at Ground Floor Living room, so one home plug near DIR-615 and the other near IPTV/LCD TV. Is the setup ok?

YES u can use homeplug for that. As i willl using the same setup and someone already confirm work.

No my house is single phase and single consumer unit.

Not only that, you have to make sure it's from the same source, i.e. from the same consumer unit or distribution board; even if you are from the same phase but different consumer unit, I don't think it's work.

I bought homeplug from my fren due to his office unable to use homeplug. can't detect the network. not sure why. So i guess some power cable infrastructure also will affected.. maybe those old one. I guess la tongue.gif

I think the manual says you can plug any network device... have you checked the link whether it's green/red? Haven't really tried myself... can give it a shot but dunno when since already tidy up my equipment over the weekend.
*
Yah i got all light green in homeplug. but the router show internet in orange. mean is not connected. BTU show internet connected. hmm.gif

The only reason for BTU ---homeplug--- DIR-615 setups to fail is if your homeplug is blocking VLAN tagged traffic or broadcast traffic. If DIR-615 ---homeplug--- IPTV works then I'm guessing tagged VLANs are being blocked (since IPTV traffic is not tagged after going through the DIR-615). I've seen it done before though, despite a slight performance hit.

Hi Rizvan,
thanks for the reply.

many said wifi download will slow then cable. but i tested wifi with speed test still can get 20mb/s. is normal or i should be able to get more then 20 if u use cable ?? thinking of weather need to get another set of homeplug to move my custom router to my room so everything can use cable or just stick with wifi will do ?

thanks biggrin.gif

Guys,
I have decided to be a white rat.
I'm going to order a HP Procurve 1700 8 port managed switch to replace the DIR-615 for the VLAN bridging work.

Hope it will work. *pray*

If you're on VDSL based Unifi, you need one for the phone line going *into* the BTU from your building and on the power supply of the BTU.

If you're on FTTH Unifi, one on the power supply of the BTU is enough.

For FTTH its best to get a UPS so your phone line stays up during blackouts :3
*
thanks. i am using VDSL condo. will try plug in belkin extension come with phone line surge protector see will affect the speed or not.
oh ~ a very good idea to get an UPS so still can unifi if power blackout.. very comments issues happen in my condo mad.gif mad.gif

tested Router ---homeplug --- homeplug ---- laptop. The internet speed no drop. look's cool.
Will try enable the homeplug 110EW N-Wifi to test the speed later.

for those who plan to use homeplug to router or iptv or use it with power extension. U are good to go. 110E only Rm99. each smile.gif

homeplug 110EW N-Wifi is working good in team of speed in wifi. but not so recommend since u will lost all the security features that normal wifi router do.

Tomorrow will try custom router as per Rizvan's guide. the only different is will try

DIR-615 --- Homeplug ----- Homeplug ----- Custom router. Will see who's the speed. as far as i tested homeplug are doing great.
